While sampling four different, high-quality delicious flavors she had baked that day, together we designed a gorgeous, natural, unique wedding cake full of inspiration. It combined elements of our venue in the rice paper frosting, a unique square tiered asymmetrical shape that harkened back to a private memory, and the beauty of the surrounding natural environment of our wedding location. The cake speaks for itself... it is exactly as we designed and her hand spun sugar California Poppies were even more gorgeous than we envisioned. We saved the top tier, where it is secured with extra packing tape because we are so tempted to get another taste before our one year anniversary... which will make the day even more special!

Jasmine asked not just about our preferences but about who were as as people and as a couple. She is extremely insightful and after listening patiently and drawing out our personalities, she came up with some awesome ideas the really felt like they represented the core of ourselves and our relationship. We learned about ourselves that day and she made us feel so seen. Once we had a design in mind we worked through size and pricing. For a wedding cake prices were in the mid thousands, which sounds expensive for a cake but we believe is an *extremely* fair price given what you get (especially considering other places in the wedding industry charge through the nose for much less). The price covers a full custom sculpture as well as the incredible design experience mentioned above, a tasting session and high-end flavor experience, and transport. Jasmine took care to work with our budget and gave us a variety of options trading size vs. amount of cake vs. number of flavors in order to get us something we were happy with at a price we were happy with. Then we got to do the flavor tasting, which was ....goodness. We tried three flavors, all of which were unique and delicious and exactly what we had described wanting to try. Jasmine was more than willing to work with us to incorporate minor changes to one of the flavors, and we ended up going with all three. Throughout the process, both Jasmine and her assistant were polite and professional. When we arrived, the cake was set up beautifully. We quite literally gasped when we saw the way the light shone through the petals. It was so perfectly us and felt like an extension of our love. It was a top 10 wedding moment. The first bite was amazing, and the flavors were just as good as we expected from the tasting. Everyone really enjoyed it. At the end of the night, we did have some trouble figuring out how to get the top (styrofoam) half of the cake home, but eventually managed to transport it carefully back. Jasmine gifts both the styrofoam portion and the cake stand to you as part of the package, and the fondant does not go bad so you can keep the sculpture forever. It now adorns our living room. This year we got a Peppa Pig-themed cake for my child's 4th birthday, and it was a 2-tiered cake for people size 30-35 guests. The design was absolutely stunning. Undoubtedly, Pastel creates some of the most beautiful custom cakes. My kid and all of our guests were absolutely thrilled when they saw the cake. Via the website chat feature, Adhiti helped me make my choices and place my order. Payment and pickup at her micro bakery in the Sunset District were easy to coordinate. I wanted a sheet cake with an ocean theme and chose the shrikhand flavor. Adhiti created a completely custom ocean-inspired design with frosting waves and shells, and saffron sugar for sand. She even made little signs. It was completely unique! I worried whether the flavors -- cardamom, saffron, and nutmeg -- might be a bit unusual for the children, but everyone loved it. I also got the strawberry rose and haldi doodh cupcakes. DELICIOUS. The haldi doodh was my personal favorite of the three items -- delicious and beautiful, striking just the right balance of sweet, savory, salty, dense, fluffy, crispy, smooth. SO good! Adhiti's cakes and cookies are delicious, she's very flexible and easy to work with, and she delivers on-time and at a reasonable fee. Most recently, I ordered 2 sheet cakes from Badam Babe to serve about 100 guests at my Dad's 80th birthday party. I ordered one Masala Chai cake and one Haldi-Doodh (tumeric cardamom) cake, and they were a hit! Our party guests were amazed by the unique flavors and multiple people asked for Adhiti's contact info. My favorite was the Masala Chai cake! Previously, I ordered a Shrikand cake from Adhiti to bring to a holiday potluck, and it was incredible - both incredibly flavorful and stunning! My first order from Adhiti was last fall, when I ordered her Rangoli cookies for a Diwali party I hosted - the cookies were truly remarkable. Brownies: These are exactly how brownies should be. Rich and gooey on the bottom with a light crust on top. Came in a package of four, but I could only eat one in a given sitting since they're so filling. Not fancy schmancy or anything, just a classic done very well. Oreo Mini Cake: A long oval of cake that feels like more cake than a cupcake and you can eat it with a fork. The Oreo taste was rather subtle with a few bits mixed into the yellow cake, so it was hard to notice. The frosting had more bits and kinda reminded me of cookies & cream ice cream. A fun way to say you ate a whole cake by yourself! Cake Pop: Looked like a mini ice cream cone. Tasted just ok though, with cake underneath the chocolate shell tasting more pasty than cakey. I'd recommend the mini cake instead. Red Velvet Mini Cake: Seeing how Red Velvet is one of my favorite cakes, it was hard to pass on this on. Definitely did not disappoint with the rich red cake base and the creamy thick frosting. I like the mini cake design since it's a lot more portable than a cake slice. Carrot Cake Jar: Ok, if you like frosting then this is for you! It looks like one of those healthy jar salads, until you get a closer look to see that the layers are just cake chunks of frosting. Much better in my opinion. And the frosting layers seem a lot more generous than on a normal cake, so get ready for that. Lemon Bars: Huge curd-to-crust ratio, just the way I like it. So much so that it might fall apart in your hands, so better to eat with a fork. Strong lemony taste without getting that curd funk aroma that sometimes happens, so really well executed.

I wanted our family's name printed on the cookies, but in the style of The Sopranos logo, making it recognizable but not an exact copy. I wasn't sure if I communicated it well in my initial message, but George promptly responded and knew exactly what I meant. I mentioned to George that we would have a lot of balloons at the party. He took that detail and created our own family name logo that was hand-piped beautifully onto every cookie. Throughout the entire ordering experience, both George and Yana were prompt with their responses and really made me feel like this wasn't a business-client relationship - it felt more like we were a team. They understood how important this event was to us and how I wanted every detail in my mind to come to fruition. As someone who has planned her fair share of events, it is such a relief to work with a vendor who understands and can execute your vision. I truly feel like a valued customer, as Yana and George made every effort to ensure that this whole process was at my convenience and to my satisfaction. Even though our cookies were a simple design, our entire family was impressed at the precision and uniformity of their work. Simply put, Yana and George are awesome.
