Was suggested Cake Coquette for a friend's baby shower. Gabby was easy to work with and I sent her the size of the party and some inspiration. My friend loves the Hobbit and the baby shower also had bunny theme and Gabby knocked it out of the park. Everyone including the soon to be parents were so impressed with the cake's look. Beautiful wedding cake and great execution! I sent her an inspiration photo, and she really delivered on that vision. I would highly recommend doing a tasting box so you can try all of her innovative flavors. Gabby did a wonderful job making cake for our wedding. When we first met up, we were able to try small samples of cake, which all were pretty tasty but we ended up going with a vanilla cake with cream cheese filling and strawberry and passionfruit flavour. She was super fun to talk to and was able to easily make a sketch to turn our vague cake ideas into something tangible. She was also able to add a dozen vegan cupcakes for our vegan guests. Everything turned out amazing! My only regret is that I wasn't really able to have some of the cake on my wedding day. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to eating the cake saved for our 1st anniversary! If you're looking for a baker for your wedding in the Bay Area, look no further. read more

I reached out to Cake Coquette to make a very small wedding cake for my City Hall wedding. I'm from from out of town so I didn't get the chance to try and flavors or check them out beforehand but everything was great! Gabrielle was very responsive via email. We ordered the vanilla buttermilk cake with cream cheese frosting, fresh strawberries & raspberry jam and it was really good! We are so sad to write this review because we really like Gabby when we first visited her for a cake tasting. However, I am so disappointed with the lack of communication on details and her own decision making approach for our once in a lifetime wedding cake. Two stars because Gabby is sweet and the cake flavors were delicious, and she offered a partial refund. We took away three stars because she made her own "judgement call" on how our cake should look like without asking us any questions or communicating any details to us. I could not give Cake Coquette five stars after I almost DIED when I saw our wedding cake for the first time at our traditional Military and Fairytale wedding. I am all about details. Details are especially important to a bride who is extremely meticulous and CLEAR with her expectations. My close friends immediately knew how I would feel after they saw the styrofoam cake topper and told me to look away - yes, they knew how upset I'd be because there was barely any work done to the cake topper that was supposed to be custom made. The styrofoam castle that WE purchased and provided to Gabby was difficult to look at on our wedding because it was worse than looking at a castle cake topper for a fairytale princess birthday party for a one year old -- this was our first and only WEDDING! I could've decorated it better; in hindsight, I wish the company we order the cake topper from shipped the castle topper to us directly so we could've decorated it and then provided it to Gabby because she obviously thought leaving it styrofoam for a black tie wedding was fine. We had no idea our cake would have a styrofoam castle on top that wouldn't be decorated - why was this NEVER communicated to us until AFTER our black tie wedding? We emailed Gabby the day after our wedding asking why a picture was never sent or even a single description via email of what our cake would look like (whatever happened to communication?!). Why was the castle topper NOT decorated and left as STYROFOAM? Yes, can you believe it?! A STYROFOAM (literally) castle on top of an elegant wedding cake at a Black Tie wedding with military officers and the most important people in our lives gathered together?????? Ugh, we were so upset! Gabby's response was: "...we did make a judgment call on the walls of the castle based on budget, as they would have had to be completely recovered in a fondant redesign of the topper in order to change the texture, a several hour process in itself. We did use a shiny white dust on the walls, which had the same look as the styrofoam itself." "Judgement call" on OUR wedding cake?! We will pay you ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to have made our castle cake topper look ANYTHING OTHER THAN STYROFOAM. This castle cake topper "budget" and details were never discussed with us. We only discussed the cake layers and delicious flavors. My heart breaks that we put so much effort in researching a castle cake, purchasing a $70 castle plan white styrofoam castle topper, purchasing a $300 gold cake stand, and putting time into meeting with Gabby for a cake that looked like it had a styrofoam cake topper straight from the craft store. We asked why didn't she send a picture before our wedding, and her response was: "As a general policy, we never send pictures out before delivery of a cake." I was livid. I stepped away from writing any reviews from my wedding day for five years - just to let that emotional side of me to pass by. I am still really upset after five years with this experience. We paid so much for a wedding cake that we wouldn't ever have approved of if we knew that the cake topper would look like styrofoam. Our photographer got some good shots of us and the cake from far, far, far away so the styrofoam did not show up in the pictures. Unfortunately, our castle cake topper was "good from far, far from good." Five stars for the taste (delicious) and five stars for being a sweet person when we met you, but the lack of communication for details is what makes me give the fair rating of two stars overall. We really wish Gabby had gone through the details with us before moving forward with any detail that was made for our wedding cake. read more

Gabby is an incredible artist and her team was great to work with. We had our wedding in May 2019 (so a review was long overdue!!) but just wanted to make a quick post because memories of the cake is still something I fawn over. Everything about the process was so smooth. We had a neat tasting and design session and the final product turned out exactly as we hoped it would. (Gorgeous and delicious!!! Vanillla with salted caramel and toffee) Delivery of the cake was excellent also. They got to the venue and set up before I even arrived! And it held up the whole time (8 or 9 hours?) looking pristine. Great experience and so happy to have worked with them for such a special occasion! read more

When planning a wedding what you really need is someone who listens and follow through, without meeting more than once or twice if that's what you're looking for this is the place to be. Though it was a tough decision in the first place deciding which vendor to use for our wedding cake, what we really liked about Gabby was 1) the flavors, and 2) her creativity: with some sample photos & a description that we came with, she sketched her version of what she would make live while we waited. The pricing was reasonable, and she was fast with responses to the few questions we posed in the intervening months between contract & wedding day... And then when she delivered the cake on our wedding day, it was absolutely perfect! We were impressed, many of our guests commented on it as well, and it tasted exactly as we wanted. Our only regret was that somehow in the chaos of the evening, it didn't get communicated to the caterer that we wanted to keep some to take home, as our only taste of it that night was during the cake cutting ceremony. I guess we'll have to engage her again for an anniversary cake! read more

This is a long overdue review. Gabby made a wedding cake for us last year in Thanksgiving weekend. There was a mix-up and the cake arrived late. I was on pins and needles waiting for the cake. All my anxiety dissappated when it arrived and it was exactly what I wanted. The cake was beautiful---so elegant decorated with fresh flowers. We chose the red velvet cake. It was moist, flavorful, and sooo delicious. Everyone commented on how the cake was so moist and tasty, without being overly sweet. This year, Gabby gifted us a small red velvet cake in November because of our cake arriving late last year. That was really sweet and I appreciated her thoughtfulness. The cake was just as moist and flavorful as the wedding cake last year. We enjoyed it so much that our family decided that Gabby's red velvet cake will be an annual tradition. I was a little early booking my wedding cake (11 months) but Gabby and her team were so accommodating. I met with her in person once to go over my ideas for our cake and to do the cake tasting. I changed my mind a lot in terms of the design and felt bad but Gabby and her team were nothing short of friendly and helpful. They really do want you to have the cake of your dreams! I couldn't have imagined it turning out any better. We picked the hazelnut chocolate cake with rum and then the classic vanilla with amaretto soaked cake. Since we had children at our reception we asked for the top tier to be no alcohol and to have funfetti cake. My only regret is not being able to have each of the flavors at our wedding (we were so busy!). The bites that we did have of the classic white were moist, flavorful, and effing delicious! I can't wait for our anniversary when we return to SF; we will have to order our cake again! read more

So glad I chose Gabby to create a cake for my baby shower! I sent her an email with a example of what I wanted for the nautical theme and she said she would modify the design to fit within my budget. I was expecting something way less elaborate than the photo I sent her but it turned out to be exactly how I had wanted it! Not only was it beautiful, it was moist and the vanilla with raspberry and strawberry filling was well-balanced, fresh, and not too sweet. My guests raved about it and kept asking where the cake was from and did not hesitate to take all of the leftovers home with them! Majority of the time bakeries put so much time and effort on the outside of the cake, the inside and the taste gets compromised, but not with my cake! She offers delivery service for a fee but I opted to pick the cake up myself at no charge and she was communicative and made it a breeze. Will definitely order my next cake from her! I threw a 50th birthday bash for my wife at a venue in SF that has art deco vibes. My wife's Chinese zodiac sign is the tiger, so there was a tiger theme element to the party. I reached out to Gabby at Cake Coquette, and ordered a 3 tier cake. I informed Gabby about the tiger theme and she asked me about the venue. Within a few days she sent me a sketch of a cake that incorporated both the tiger theme and the art deco vibes of the venue. The end result was a beautiful and delicious red velvet cake! The cake was absolutely stunning and perfectly complimented the party themes. Beyond all expectations. My wife loved the cake and we received compliments on the cake all night. The compliments continued the following evening when we had some family over to finish the leftover red velvet cake. It was so good. Cake Coquette is now my go to cake bakery in SF. I reached out to Gabby (2.5 weeks before my mother-in-law's birthday celebration) to order a cake. Gabby was super accommodating and answered all of my questions. I chose a citrus buttermilk cake with citrus cream filling and lemon curd. I told her that my mother-in-law loves jade and pearl jewelry along with what type of flowers she likes. Gabby was able to incorporate the pale mint green theme/jade along with adding my mother-in-law's favorite flowers into the cake design. She created this most beautiful mint green/jade marbling in the fondant and added specks of edible gold flakes. She even delivered the cake to the restaurant before the scheduled dinner and had them refrigerate it until the party began. My mother-in-law absolutely loved how beautiful her cake was and loved how it taste! I can't thank Gabby enough for such a beautiful cake! read more

Established in 2007.

Cake designer, Gabrielle Feuersinger, was born and raised in San Francisco (Go Lowell High!) so there was only one option for the home of her cake business. Cake Coquette is fairly new on the scene, but Gabrielle has been honing her skills for years in the industry. With formal training from the CCA (California Culinary Academy) she set off for a stint at the W Hotel Seattle and then to Los Angeles to work for the well known Cake Divas. In Los Angeles the orders where often extreme, challenging but always fun. Making cakes for celebrities and movie sets prepares you for anything so Gabrielle can grant any request. Gabrielle's inspiration comes from ornamental art such as Faberge Eggs, Italian and French ornament, Art Nouveau patterns and so much more. She is happy to create new designs based on a clients vision as well. Every cake is different so the possibilities are endless.

I agree it's definitely a top jambon beurre and I also tried the chicken caesar baguette sandwich was also great. The cinnamon bun here was also one of the better ones I have had in a very long time so that was a nice treat. We grabbed a couple different pastries to try, and the pastries were good, but the savory selection was delicious! Banana loaf slice: this was a generous slice that was moist and tasty, but it really missed with the overall flavor profile of banana. Almond croissant: a properly made croissant should be late and buttery and the almond croissant just wasn't. It tasted more like a dinner roll than it did a croissant. There was barely any almond flavor in it, and I would take a pass on this next time. The seasonal Cherry tomato pastry: go now! You want to try this while they are making it. This savory pastry is such a perfect breakfast/brunch pastry. The flavor profile is absolutely phenomenal, and it is mouth watering and delicious. It's filled with different cheeses, and topped with tomatoes. We heated up, and that was the game changer. The cheese was gooey and melty. Mmmm, mmmm, good! The staff is nice and helpful, and they were very welcoming. The case is filled with so many options, there's something for everyone!

Charter Oak Food Pick-up has bad reviews, but it was very easy process for me. The parking location can be a little cramped during busy hours as the building is located at a dead-end. One inside, I showed the worker my order and she grabbed it from the fridge for me. She definitely wasn't the most polite person, but it didn't bother me. The slices have to be refrigerated at all-times, so if your ride home is longer than 10 minutes, I would suggested bringing your own ice or cooler as the cakes aren't packed with any ice. I was worried that the slices weren't going to taste fresh, but they were so delicious! The creme is very rich and the layers are so thin and delicate. Definitely enjoyed the Hokkaido flavor. For the price (2 slices for $24), the cakes are more so for special occasions.

There's a small, devoted cult of bagel people in this city who line up for what they swear is the best bagel in san francisco. You can't get a bagel sandwich here. It's not that kind of place. It's more like the neighborhood baker showing up with a basket of something special for the community. The bagels are naturally leavened and sourdough-based, so they're crustier, chewier, and more rustic than NY bagels. It's a different philosophy. The cream cheeses are made in house, and some of them are unique - like the horseradish and shallot -with freshly grated horseradish, minced shallot, and parsely - I loved this one. But my favorite thing to get here is called a Dog Log. It's an beef hot dog...wrapped in a bagel. Hell yeah! The one's a "pumperknickel everything bagel, wrapped around all all beef hot dog." There's a lovely parklet outfront where you can eat your bagels amongst dog walkers and coffee drinkers, but most people get a dozen to go, with cream cheese and lox on the side. Alex started selling Chickendog Bagels out of Pizzahacker during the pandemic before moving to Avedano's in Bernal. It's not a big business. And he's not really growing the enterprise. Alex just wants to make high quality bagels, surf, read, and balance his life. Yet every time I post a bagel review, somebody in the comments says "Chicken dog bagels are the best".

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Cake Coquette. I sent a clear reference photo of the star-shaped cake my daughter wanted, and we specifically discussed the decorative edible gems. She confirmed that she could use edible gems that would look like real jewelry. Despite that conversation, she apparently made no effort to obtain them. Instead, the cake was covered with large, dull, unattractive pieces that looked like stones picked up from the ground and stuck onto the cake. They looked nothing like sparkling gems. The cake was completely different from the elegant and delicate design we had agreed upon. The decoration was extremely crude and showed a complete lack of refinement, attention to detail, and professional skill. When I arrived and questioned why she had not used the edible gems we had discussed, she offered to start calling around to see where she could find them. By then, I had already driven from Oakland to San Francisco, the cake was completed, and I was on my way to my daughter's birthday. That offer was obviously far too late. Edible gems made specifically for cakes were readily available to order online, and obtaining them should have been handled before the cake was made--not when the customer arrived for pickup. The pickup location was also extremely difficult to find and appeared to operate from an industrial warehouse rather than a clearly marked bakery. The entire experience felt careless and unprofessional. A custom birthday cake requires trust. If a bakery accepts a specific design and confirms that it can provide an important decorative element, it has a responsibility to prepare properly and deliver what was agreed upon. If that is not possible, the customer must be told in advance. Her lack of preparation, responsibility, and attention to detail caused enormous stress and disappointment and negatively affected my daughter's birthday celebration. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Cake Coquette for detailed custom cakes. read more

i cannot say enough good things about Gabby. She made an anniversary cake for my husband's and my 50th wedding anniversary. At first Gabby said that the smallest three-tiered cake she made was for 130 people which was way more than we needed. But when Gabby found out it was for our 50th anniversary and that this cake would be our first "professional" wedding cake, she said she could make a three-tiered cake for 30 people, which was just perfect. I really wanted a three-tiered cake because we were married while in college and didn't have much money. We were married at my husband's parents' home and his mother made my wedding dress and the cake. The cake was good, but it was only two-tiered and did not have flower decorations. I explained to Gabby that I wanted a cake with yellow roses and purple violets because both of those flowers are associated with a 50th anniversary. She make the cake exactly as i wanted it. It was more than I could have expected! It was gorgeous, complete with gold piping and a gold 50 on the top. But, it doesn't stop there, The cake was absolutely delicious. The bottom layer was devil food chocolate with chocolate fudge filling. The second tier was butter milk vanilla with carmel and toffee bits filling. Cake Coquette did my wedding cake and I can't tell you how many of my guests have contacted me afterwards to ask me where I got it. Cake coquette is amazingly flexible and accommodating--my now husband and I couldn't decide on a flavor so we did a different flavor/filling combo for each layer. One was almond cake/mascarpone cheese with fresh strawberries and it was phenomenal!! The cake is incredibly moist, the butter cream is not too sweet, and the white chocolate fondant-like wrap was amazing. I was so bummed after the wedding because I didn't have time to taste the cake, but the next morning my in-laws brought over the leftover. You would have thought I had won the lottery as ecstatic as I was. I was so pleased with how it turned out. Cake coquette will not disappoint you if you go w/ for your event. We went w/ a simple branching flower design on the outside. I will honestly say that the cake decorating is okay, but didn't blow my mind. 6 stars please!!! Cake Coquette created a fabulous and yummy cake for our wedding last year, inspired by modern & whimsical elements. Not only did the cake look good, but it also tasted good. We chose two flavors, a traditional white cake with fresh strawberries and then her signature red velvet because hubby and I just LOVE us some red velvet! We did have a hard time choosing flavors, since so many of the ones we tried at our tasting were really good and different from what we were used to. Then again we only ever eat cake from Costco, hahaha, so that's not a good comparison. We loved our cake so much we will be going back to Cake Coquette for an anniversary cake and maybe this time around we will choose one of the flavors we didn't get to select for our wedding cake...yum! read more

Just wanted to drop you a note to say THANK YOU for such a beautiful and DELICIOUS baby shower cake. Of course it was the hit of the party and blended in with the decor. Words like Beautiful, amazing and outstanding were words to describe the exterior of the cake and then when we cut the cake word like HEAVEN and lots of Mmmm Mmmmm good! I actually found this place from Michelle aka @sfcheatdays, as she posted the cake for her bday! Ordering online was quick and easy and Liz will confirm your order within the next 24 hours. Once my order was confirmed, she included her address and very detailed description of where to stop on her busy street in SF. I actually had to make a change in pickup date and time and Liz was very accommodating! I had requested silver font instead of gold and she was very detail oriented asking if I wanted the topper to be coated in silver as well, since it was usually coated in gold. I appreciate she took the time to ask vs. just doing silver font and gold coating. Pickup was so easy, even though it was a busy day. She dropped off the cake on the floor of my front seat to make sure it was stable as well. Onto the taste of the cake! I ordered the Earl grey with brown sugar icing and it was soooo good! Tasted like a boba milk tea hehe! You need to take the cake out of the fridge at least 2 hours in advance of serving and we did just that. The cake was still a little chilled but so moist and fresh! We were so full after our dinner so we had so much cake left. We followed the instructions to wrap in Saran Wrap and we had delicious cake the next couple days! Also I'm so happy to be supporting an Asian AND woman-owned business in the Bay Area! I highly recommend Liz and her cakes and her customer service is on point! Every single asian female at my wedding said it was "Not to sweet!" which is THE highest compliment one could give a dessert. So many people came up to us saying "this is the first wedding cake I've ever liked" or "I don't like cake at all but what an interesting flavor combo." I had a crazy idea at one point to bake my own cake, but I am SO GLAD that everyone talked me out of it because I could never bake a cake as delicious as Liz and if I had done it, I would've never gotten to meet this incredible artist.

It was Jesse's first time making the characters I requested, and they still turned out perfect! She offered helpful suggestions on which designs would work best and accommodated an early pickup to make my commute easier. She was responsive throughout the process and provided clear pickup and macaron aftercare instructions. The macarons turned out really cute and my wife loved them. They were designing these elegant two tiered cakes and wow what a great sight to see. The lady that helped me with answering all of my question did not disappoint. She was informative, professional and even let me try their popular lychee raspberry cake and the cookies and cream. BOTH were delish but since this cake would be my sister's elopement cake we went with the lychee raspberry with their homemade buttered cream icing. It was an absolute perfection. When the cake was delivered, I was getting live updates on how far my courier was and that was comforting. The cake arrive in a spectacular shape And my family and the newlyweds most certainly enjoyed every bite.
