As a cake baker myself, I was really picky about who I would want to make my wedding cake. After trying three different bakers in the area, here are the reasons we are so glad we went with Cake Coquette: + BUTTERCREAM DREAM! I was adamant about NOT using fondant on my cake, but still having a beautiful cake. Their buttercream is not too sweet, and she was able to commit and deliver on complex piping that lasted for hours on our wedding day. + CUSTOM DESIGN. I had a very specific sketch I wanted, and Cake Coquette worked with us on making it come true. We also cut our cake with a sword (lol) so she understood that it needed to survive the cut. + FLAVOR OPTIONS. Of all the cake boxes we tried, they had the widest range to try, and they were all solid choices. + COOL STUDIO. If you get a chance, try to see their studio in SF. It's really beautiful, and they have display sizes of different cakes so you can get a sense of what you want. + PROFESSIONALISM. Timely responses, reasonable rates. + DELIVERY. Our venue was in the Santa Cruz area, farther from SF, through windy mountain roads. The cake made it perfectly. Thanks all for making my cake dreams come true!

I can't thank them enough. I reached out to them 3 days before the event and they were happy to accommodate my request. They even suggested me ideas to make the cake even more customizable. I loved how the cake turned out. It was the highlight of the party. My husband loved it. The taste was amazing! In my experience fondant cakes are more for seeing and not eating - the fondant tasted fresh and delicious. The kids loved it! The cake was fresh, spongy and delicious! I highly recommend them.

I emphatically recommend Gabby from Cake Coquette. Not only was our wedding cake absolutely stunning, but it was also one of the most delicious cakes we've ever had. From the cake tasting, Gabby was professional, creative, artistic, and truly passionate. I showed her a picture I found on Instagram, and she took our vision and turned it into a masterpiece. The flavors were outstanding--every guest raved about how flavorful the cake was. The attention to detail, from the intricate design to the flawless execution, was simply breathtaking. Gabby went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, and we couldn't be happier. Thank you!

I've ordered custom cakes from Cake Coquette three times. Always excellent cakes, design, and service.

The best. We got our wedding cake here and have gotten every cake from here since. Whether it's a birthday, bridal shower, baby shower, or gender reveal, the cake comes from here. The baker here, Gabby, is incredibly talented, friendly, and creative. I used to have zero interests in cakes. My wife used to handle all of our cakes for events. But for our wedding I wanted to be involved. We were shopping for cakes for our wedding and that was finally a time I wanted to have a say on our cake. The baker had us over for a cake testing and every single piece we tried was delicious. We knew then we had found our cake. AND THEN we started talking about the design and things got even more exciting. This is when I became invested. We looked at pictures of cakes she had done in the past and they were all inspiring. We went with the raspberry chocolate cake and I still think of it today. Safe to say our cake was one of the stars of our wedding. I believe she took care of delivering our cake to the venue as well. 5 months after our wedding it was my birthday and I wanted something special. My wife knows I love Jordan sneakers so she surprised me with a cake in the shape of an Air Jordan 1 in the traditional white/black/red color!! It was the coolest cake I've ever seen. Everyone was talking about it. Design: she can do anything! Taste: we've had the raspberry chocolate cake every single time. It's unique. It's yummy. You'll have the leftovers for dinner and won't be able to wait! Communication: Gabby is fast. And it's much appreciated.

I asked Gabby at Cake Coquette to design a two-tier Frozen-themed cake for a 5-year-old girl's birthday party. I emailed her some samples that I found online. And she did not disappoint! The cake was a huge hit at the party. We chose Devil's food chocolate cake with coconut cream and chocolate ganache, and the outside was fondant. I highly recommend this bakery for custom cakes.

My husband and I went to Cake Coquette to order our wedding cake, and met with Gabrielle. The tasting was delicious, and she was designing the cake based on our input in front of us, like an artist, which in itself was a very cool experience. The cake was absolutely stunning, and delicious. Thank you so much Gabrielle for contributing to making our day extra unique!

Ordered a cake on super short notice. Cake Coquette killed it! Quality craftsmanship, delicious outcome! My family loved it. Thank you Gabby!

It is my first time ordering this type of cake for my daughter's first. Communication through email was fast and easy. Pickup instructions were also very clear. I'm pretty satisfied with this. The price was also super fair for such a beautiful cake. I can't wait to order more from Cake Coquette in the future.

Best cake design ever! They helped make a cake for my daughters birthday and even were able to have it delivered. The cake turned out so beautiful. Thank you! I will be a return customer!

For my wedding, I had a concept but not a lot of inspiration pictures (surprisingly, I didn't think it was that unique of a concept) in that I wanted to do cupcakes of animals that mate for life. I also needed a mix of regular cupcakes, gluten-free (my now-husband is extremely allergic) and vegan (bc this is the bay area...). I loved working with Gabby because she didn't scoff at my idea and really made it come to life, even when I asked last minute "and can all the pairs be different, like some boy-girl, and some same sex?". The cupcakes were adorable and so well done but also DELICIOUS. Like someone accidentally ate our lovebirds and so we settled for a gluten-free owl and I was so blown away from the first bite I wasn't even upset over the lovebirds. I also ate the vegan and regular cupcakes and had a similar reaction. I didn't think I'd want to deal with leftovers, but the leftover cupcakes I happily took home. I highly recommend Gabby for special occasion baking needs!!

Beautiful & Yummy at the same time!

Gabby did it again! An amazing job for my mother's 90th birthday and she made it happen after I called her only the week before. I only told her the colors I wanted and she created this beauty! Also, the chocolate cake was very fresh and the cream cheese filling was a wonderful alternative to the usual buttercream. Thank you so much, Gabby! your cakes are wonderful!

we went for two bites because it was SO GOOD

We hired Gabrielle to make our wedding cake and cupcakes. I am gluten-free and dairy-free and really wanted to have a wedding cake that I could actually eat and she absolutely delivered! The cake was a lemon cake with a delicious "butter-y" lemon frosting. I wanted the cake itself to have dried flowers on it and she went above and beyond to collect flowers, press and dry them, and arranged them on the cake. She was also just so delightful to work with. Now I need to come up with another reason to order a cake! Thank you Gabrielle :)

I arrived at the bakery before it opened on a weekend morning, and there were already a couple of brave souls in line. I waited only about 25 minutes for the bakery to open, and once doors officially opened to customers, I was in and out in no time with my fresh pastries in hand. I enjoyed my almond croissant as soon as I got back home, and now I fully understand why Arsicault is at the top of everyone's SF bakery list. The almond croissant was still warm, the inside struck the perfect balance between fluffy and gooey (from the almond paste), and the exterior was nicely crisped. The almond filling is super rich and decadent yet not overly sweet. I also noticed - and appreciate - how Arsicault's almond croissant doesn't include toasted almonds on top, since these can often get over-baked and taste bitter. I definitely agree this is one of the best pastries in SF now.

I definitely feel like the team implementing the 7:45AM start time to line up has helped a lot. Not only is it better for the neighbors, but it also makes the whole experience feel a lot less chaotic compared to showing up super early and scrambling to get in line. Everything feels much calmer and organized now. As for the pastries: To be honest, it really depends on what you like. I'm one that gravitates towards pretty much anything with meat and chocolate. Because of that, most of their savory/meaty and creamy pastries are always a must for me. They're super flaky, flavorful and decadent. You can really tell how much time and effort they put into making everything as high quality as possible, especially since you can see them making everything from the window while waiting in line. All in all, I think there's been a lot of improvement over the past year with some trial and error. Their pastries have always been delicious and I personally think it's worth the wait. I recommend getting to the area closer to 7:45AM so you have a better chance of being towards the front of the line. If not, it's still better to come before opening, I just wouldn't recommend getting there right before they open. By then it's not guaranteed that you'll get everything you want since they do run out depending on how many people are there.

We had the drinks right away and I enjoyed their honeycomb toffee latte ($8.25) while my husband ordered a flavored lemonade. The Honeycomb latte wasn't overly sweet and the honeycomb on top was a nice treat. The honeycomb itself was sweet and crunchy and you can either pick it out and eat it or stir it into your drink and let it melt.
