My son's birthday cake
Preksha S.

Jesse was a pleasure to work with from the very start. She was able to provide me with design inspo and feedback so I had a very easy decision. Cake pick up was easy and swift. She worked with my timeline. She also sent me updates and pics throughout the process and the final product! For the cake - cake was amazing quality. I could totally see the precision and care that went into crafting my son's first birthday cake. The cake stayed moist and flavourful until cake cutting time. Our friends and family loved the cake and I got so many questions on where I got this cake! Definitely will be placing orders with meowvelous in the future.

I started taking Jesse's baking classes in December 2025, and I'm honestly kind of obsessed now. My very first class with her is what got me into baking in the first place, and since then I've been going almost every month (or every other month). I've made so many cute, impressive desserts that I never would've thought I could make- macarons, cookies, cupcakes, cakes...! Jesse is not only super talented, but also just genuinely fun to be around. She's kind, encouraging, and you can really feel how passionate she is about baking and sharing that joy with others. She's always coming up with new class ideas, themes, and designs, so it never feels repetitive- there's always something new and exciting to make. The classes are small (usually around five people), which makes such a big difference. You get lots of personal help and it never feels rushed or intimidating, even if you're newer to baking. Every class makes me happy, and I always leave feeling proud of what I made (and excited to eat it). If you're even a little curious about baking, I can't recommend Jesse's classes enough. I'll also be posting photos of everything I've made because honestly... they're too cute not to share.

Absolutely loved everything Meowvelous Bakes created for my 40th! The cake, cupcakes, and macarons were beautiful, delicious, and perfectly captured my dark masquerade theme. Every detail was gorgeous, and everything came together even better than I imagined. Highly recommend!

Macarons vs. Chai

I ordered a custom 4-tier macaron tower with round macarons & faces of my dog (Chai) in strawberry cream, pistachio, and Hojicha flavors for his 4th birthday party. I ended up using my own tiered dessert stand though because I was worried the excited kids might knock it over while grabbing the macarons. The entire process was seamless from beginning to end. Website was straight forward and easy to use - I was able to upload a few photos of Chai for Jesse's reference. Jesse communicated promptly via emails and texts, kept me updated, and provided very clear pick up instructions. I especially loved receiving the macaron preview photos & videos the morning of the pick up day as I'm a bit of a control freak and not a fan of surprises. The macarons turned out sooooo cute and delicious. You can clearly taste each macaron's distinct flavor, which I really enjoyed. Everyone kept asking me where I ordered from. We will definitely be ordering more in the near future! Thank you Jesse (and her husband)!

Custom sea turtle/under the sea themed macarons in flavors ube, hojicha, strawberry, and chocolate.

The cutest, most delicious macarons ever! Jesse was such a dream to work with. She reached out almost immediately after my initial inquiry and we discussed the theme, flavors, and she gave me a quote. She was communicative throughout the process and gave very clear pick-up instructions. The macarons were SO adorable and exactly what I pictured for my event. On top of that, they were incredibly delicious, perfect in texture and flavor. Definitely some of the best macarons I've ever had! Already planning my next order. Thanks so much, Jesse!

I ordered Christmas macarons and a macaron cake, and they were absolutely delicious and adorable. Everyone loved them. Highly recommend! She also makes amazing custom cakes--I'm always impressed by her creations on Instagram and can't wait to order one for my next birthday.

Jesse at Meowvelous Bakes is absolutely wonderful and her macarons are super cute and super delicious! I hade some custom kitty macarons of our cats made for my daughter's 8th birthday and they came out so great! They were a hit and everyone loved how they tasted!

I've been following Jesse for a while now on Instagram and just really admire her work! I have a go-to baker but she wasn't available one day so I was finally able to try a Meowvelous creation... Well, Jesse is a breath of fresh air! So attentive, communicative, and super nice. My daughter's cake turned out the way I had imagined it to be and yummy too! I ordered some regular macarons on the side as well and she threw in some decorated ones to match the cake's theme. I thought that was so nice and thoughtful of her. I highly recommended Meowvelous Bakes!!

Inspiration pic

I met Jesse through her macaron making class. My wife & I had a good time and she was easy to work with so I decided to order a custom cake from her for my wife's birthday party. The process for ordering the cake was quite simple. I sent Jesse an inspiration picture and we discussed details about flavor, size, & when the cake was needed. Jesse took over from there. All that was left for me to to was to pick up the cake on the day of the party. Coordinating the pick up was easy. Jesse sent detailed instructions on where to meet her and when. The cake turned out amazing. It was pretty and tasted good. People at the party loved it. It could not have turned out any better. I would definitely go to Jesse again. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for custom cakes, macarons, or anyone interested in learning how to make those things.

Jesse has done such an amazing job baking various cakes, madeleines, cupcakes and other baked goods for my baby shower, holiday events and even housewarming gifts! We are impressed by the craft evident in her design, care she puts into baking each piece and the undeniably amazing taste. Highly recommend her macaroons, cakes, madeleines and cookies! She goes above and beyond to make customers happy!

Her artwork is outstanding! I admire her details and creativity into making this art :) She is very understanding and optimistic about the choices you select. It's not too sweet too! I would recommend booking atleast 2 weeks in advance since the booking does get busy. Overall, I'm happy and my family is happy!

He's a great teacher, a fun person and was full of energy and kept the program moving. It was 1AM in Madrid and you would never know it from his abundant energy, fun personality and professional teaching skills. That is not what happened. There was essentially no hands-on cooking. My wife and I repeatedly asked how we could help, and the only participation we were given was washing lettuce and chopping a small amount of pepper. There was no meaningful instruction, no real teaching, and very little engagement. The ingredients were also very disappointing for the price. Store-bought tortilla chips were used despite the menu advertising homemade chips. The carne asada was supposed to include chimichurri, but it was seasoned with store-bought seasoning from a jar and no actual chimichurri was prepared. I contacted Cozymeal immediately with detailed feedback. After delays, they refused to refund the booking and offered only a 15% gift card toward another Cozymeal experience, which is useless because I would never use them again. This was an awful experience and Cozymeal did not stand behind it. I would strongly recommend avoiding this platform.

7/27/25 Zach…read moresurprised me with a ramen cooking class at The Story of Ramen. I lovvvve ramen (and noodles in general) so I was ecstatic for this experience. The Story of Ramen is located in the Mission so parking was a little tricky. We got to the general area 20 minutes before so that we could get a decent parking spot. We did the 4 hour advanced workshop where we learned about how to prepare the broth, marinated eggs, chasiu pork, tare seasoning and how to make the ramen. For that day, there were 5 other pairs. Our teachers Manville and Jeff, guided us through every step of the arduous process of making the perfect bowl of ramen. The workshop started off with a lecture about the history of ramen and the creation of The Story of Ramen. Of all the tasks we did, my favorite was making the ramen itself. After learning in detail how much work goes into making ramen, I appreciate ramen more than I ever did before. This was a great team building activity and something new for us. I highly recommend this and of course you get to eat the bowl of ramen you make at the end of the workshop!

Classes start at $70. Whether you're planning a cozy date night, friend hangout, or the perfect foodie gft, this ramen-making class is it.

We made a total of 5 items - tamagoyaki (egg sushi), a cucumber roll, a rainbow roll, a smoked salmon nigiri, and a spicy tuna crab roll. The class was really insightful of how to roll sushi as a first time sushi maker, and all of the fish was really fresh. You were able to plate your sushi to enjoy after, or like me, you could just eat it as you made it.  Throughout the class, the instructor gave us helpful tips for success and went around and helped anyone who had questions. Afterward, we were given some mochi and miso soup.  At the end, I was full, although I do wish that we were able to make one more roll. Also, some of the ingredients in the spicy tuna and the sushi rice were prepared ahead of time, so we didn't get the full experience of making it. However, after the class, the instructor did email us photos they took through the class, as well as the recipes to try and recreate it at home. Overall, this was a really fun experience.

I live right around…read morethe corner from Civic Kitchen and remember being skeptical about another business in our neighborhood that was out of my price range. For a few years I received their mailing list, looking at all the amazing cooking classes they offered and never took part thinking it was too much to spend on myself. Coming out of COVID, I decided to bite the bullet and enroll in the 6 week Learn to Cook I series. BEST DECISION EVER! While the overall price might seem scary, you get your money's worth and MORE! It truly is an investment in yourself that greatly benefits your loved ones as they reap the benefits of your new culinary skills!!! When you break it down, the culinary tips and tricks you get, intensive small group instruction, a gourmet dinner complete with wine and your new cooking friends, as well as the occasional left overs, it really is a steal. Walking in the door, the kitchen is absolutely stunning. It is so tastefully designed with local Heath Ceramics, natural wood, stainless steel, Le Creuset, and the most beautiful kitchen tools. It is a treat to learn and cook from this kitchen. They use only the highest quality ingredients and help you learn about great places to source produce and meat in the neighborhood. Each week they send you the recipes and techniques that will be covered. I highly recommend doing all the recipes again after class at home as "homework" to continue to refine your skills and have experience substituting when what you're looking for might not be available. I've said a lot about the value and space but let me tell you about the PEOPLE! A fine team of people run The Civic Kitchen. Jen Nurse and her husband Chris are the fantastic owners. Jen previously worked with the non-profit 18 Reasons and is highly committed to the community. The culinary director Carrie is great and comes around during class to provide support and helpful tips. Frances is the incredible cooking instructor that is just a joy to watch and learn from. They also have a rotating dishwasher who each week has been super nice and friendly. Truly a grade "A" team, trust me, I'm a teacher. The course starts out sitting at a long communal table with snacks and Frances going over the day's recipes and techniques. The rest of the class is a combination of observation and working hands on with a few other people at your station replicating the dishes. All skills welcome and no one is left behind. Jen, Frances, and Carrie all float around to check on your skills and provide support. The evening concludes feasting on the fruits of your labor with fantastic wine. It's the best night of the week. Disclaimer, I went a little overboard with the photos but the pictures speak for themselves. Overall, come for the food and stay for the people!
