I eat out a lot and love, love love sweets but rarely leave reviews unless a place or business is absolutely spectacular. Michele's cupcakes are AMAZING, super fresh, and not too sweet. She baked 6-dozen cupcakes for my baby shower this past weekend and several guests asked where I got the cupcakes. Flavors ordered: strawberries and cream, oreo, mascarpone, triple lemon, vanilla latte and dutch chocolate. My personal favorites were: strawberries and cream, oreo and dutch chocolate. Cakes were moist, strawberries tasted super fresh (versus artificial strawberry). Michele was so easy to work with. Thank you so much for the amazing cupcakes! I will definitely be ordering from you again, :D!

Triple Lemon Cupcakes. Lemon cake, lemon curd filling, with lemon butter cream. Refreshing and just the right amount of lemon sweetness.

My sister bought these delicious cupcakes from Gateaux. They are moist, flavorful, not too sweet and beautifully decorated. My sister highly recommends this bakery. The owner Michelle is the nicest lady and is a pleasure to work with. Our family will definitely do business with her in the future. We ordered the Triple Lemon and Raspberry Lemonade cupcakes. When we got home they were all eaten in 10 minutes.

Would you believe that you wouldn't find a better cupcake in town? That's right. Gateaux has that extra ingredient that the rest of San Francisco cakes lack. You may ask yourself what is that ingredient? LOVE. Pure love. This is a woman owned business who puts everything into her product. For me, it was love at first bite. Buttercream frosting is out of this world! I suggest ordering a box of cupcakes and you will agree there is nothing better out there.

What a great find and positive experience it was to order and enjoy custom made cupcakes created by Michele. Gateaux is hidden gem in our neighborhood for some of most delicious, moist, and flavorful cupcakes. In my opinion, they are better than many bakeries out there. I ordered three dozen cupcakes for my daughter's 8th birthday and Michele was able to accommodate us with some notice. The pickup was easy and seamless. The presentation was beautiful. The flavors were very fresh and authentic, instead of just all sugar. Needless to say, the cupcakes were a huge hit at the party with many raving reviews, especially from the birthday girl. Michele is very personable. We ended up chatting it up and finding out that she knows someone I went to elementary school with......what a small world. Needless to say that we will be ordering again. If you're looking for some delicious customized cupcakes at an affordable price, then look no further than Michele and Gateaux. You won't be sorry.

Michele and Gateaux were the BEST! I placed my order the day before and Michele was so accommodating. The cupcakes were DELICIOUS! Had the perfect taste and balance of homemade and gourmet! Will definitely order from here again and recommend to everyone!

Custom order of A dozen Chocolate Cupcakes with 1/2 Espresso Frosting & 1/2 Salted Caramel Frosting ~

Michele is just a sweetheart! I was scrambling online to look for a bakery that was able to deliver in SF and her Yelp page came up. With so little reviews, I was skeptical, but boy was I lucky I took the chance. She was able to accommodate my last minute order of a dozen Chocolate Cupcakes with half Espresso Frosting and half Salted Caramel Frosting a day before delivery! On the day of delivery, Michele texted me the finishing touches of the cupcakes to see if it was to my liking or not. She wanted me to see the cupcakes before she made the delivery, which was great. I love the fact that when she made the delivery, she made sure the person who was receiving the cupcakes actually gets them. My friend's housemate was the one who answered the door, but she didn't just hand it to him like other delivery people do. So the housemate had to get my friend out of bed so he can get them. Ahaha The cupcakes were delicious! According my my friend and his housemates. The espresso frosting was bomb for a coffee lover like my friend. The cupcakes look so good! I really wanted to eat them, but I'm all the way in LA. T_T Minimum order is a dozen. Cupcakes range from $3.25-$3.75 with a delivery fee of $15. You can pay with credit card or PayPal. Thank you again Michele! You are a life saver! *\(^___^)/*

We went late in the day which I assume affected the texture of the cake (They were a little dry). We got chocolate salted caramel which had great flavor. We especially liked the frosting which was fluffy and not too sweet, red velvet which had an artificial taste, banana which tasted too fake, and lemon which had a delicious custard or pudding filling. All in all, we enjoyed the cupcakes but next time we will try to get there earlier when they're fresher.

I was wearing a Star of David necklace. The employee on duty initially interacted normally and offered a small promotional incentive with a purchase. During our conversation about flavors, the employee asked me, "What side are you on?" When I asked for clarification, she proceeded to ask whether I was a "Zionist" and "Orthodox." I responded politely and honestly that I am both. Immediately after this response, the employee withdrew the previously offered promotion and stated that I would need to pay full price. The questioning and subsequent change in treatment appeared to be based solely on my religious identity and perceived political beliefs. The way the term "Zionist" was used was hostile, and the interaction became uncomfortable and inappropriate. I remained polite throughout. My friend suggested that we leave due to the employee's behavior, and we did so. As we exited, we stated that it did not seem like this was a business that wanted our patronage. The employee responded that she was not the owner and "just worked there." Regardless of her role, no customer should be questioned about their religion or identity or treated differently because of it. I am sharing this experience so that others are aware and in the hope that the business addresses this conduct and ensures that all customers are treated with respect.

I even added significantly to the order about 28 hours in advance. They delivered on time, everything was packaged nicely. Their prices are reasonable ($35 for a dozen mini donuts, mixed flavors), plus they had both vegan and gluten-free options (must buy a dozen of each if mini cupcakes). They were easy to contact by phone or email. When they delivered, they dropped off with a colleague and texted me the confirmation. The only downside is you cant' choose your flavors in the mixed dozen (I'd requested carrot cake in the form but we didn't get any).

We had very short notice (Less than 16 hours) to order 40+ croissants. Many bakeries declined our order due to short notice, but Yoel at Tartine came through and was able to get our order in. We placed the order around 5PM on a Tuesday for pick up at 8am on Wednesday - which is unheard of! Lovingly, they arranged for us to meet up for dinner Friday night. We had discussed with my cousins before visiting them that my wife wanted to check out two renowned bakeries in the Bay Area, Tartine and Arizmendi. My cousin and her husband graciously and kindly offered to drive us around downtown San Francisco Saturday morning to visit these bakeries and we had such a great time on our personalized Bay Area foodie tour narrated by my well-informed cousin-in-law (CIL). Our first stop on this belly stuffing foodie tour was Tartine, which served one of the yummiest almond croissants I've ever eaten. That pastry alone warrants a visit to this highly rated and highly reviewed bakery. Since our CIL was in the know about The City's downtown eateries and bakeries, he recommended that we start out early to visit Tartine because he said that lines to these places could get crazy long. Thankfully for us, we got to Tartine before it opened and were second in line to enter. Tartine is a well chronicled bakery with locations around the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Seoul, Korea. The location we visited is on Guerrero and 18th streets in the Mission District and it's across from Pay And Save Grocery. Parking might be challenging with street and metered parking. As soon as you enter the bakery, there's a hipster and local mom and pop business vibe. You're greeted by glass cases displaying beautiful cakes, pastries, breads, loaves, scones, and cookies. There are stool seats and elevated chairs where you can eat on planks of wood either facing the steady flow of customers or looking outside. I liked how there were paintings hanging from what appeared to be from local artists. The staff were friendly and took care of us pretty quickly. Tartine was our first stop in what would be a fun foodie adventure. Since I always start my day with a cup of coffee, I ordered caramel cappuccino. The foam on top had a beautifully designed heart from the barista, but I like my coffee sweet and after my first sip, I knew I had to add some type of sweetener. I used a lot of their complimentary honey to make it sweeter. My wife, who works in the baking industry, had placed Tartine on her list of places she wanted to visit to experience their scones and pastries. If my wife knew about this bakery, then I knew that I'd be indulging in baked goods of the highest caliber. Of course I let my wife pick what she thought were the best items, but I asked the customer who was the first person in line what Tartine was known for and she said their almond croissants, so when it was our turn to make our selections, I asked for Tartine's Frangipane Croissant, which has almond-cream filling and brandy. Brandy?!!?? Honestly, I don't remember tasting any brandy, but what I do remember was flakiness of the croissant, the thick cut almonds on top, the heartiness of the croissant, and the generous amount of almond-cream filling. It was a beautiful looking pastry and the taste was even better. Seriously, one of the most memorable croissants I've ever eaten. My family and I are blessed to have family willing to take time out of their morning to take us on a guided foodie tour to some iconic bakeries and local eateries. Our first bakery stop was Tartine and after eating that delectable almond croissant, the other bakeries would be hard pressed to beat them.
