Re velvet and raspberry lemon (It doesn't come with the vase and filler) Tiffany blue

Big "thank you" to Kathy for making my cakepops for my birthday on such a short notice! They came out to be perfect - EXACTLY the way I imagined/wanted! I looked up a lot of the custom cake places for my birthday cake 4 days before my birthday party. (I know, it's my fault for giving such a short notice, because it's wedding season, a lot of the places don't take appointments now.) Through yelp, I found Kathy's kakes - I read through a few reviews and looked through a few pictures, and decided to give Kathy a call. I wanted 2 dozens cake pops, both with swirls on top. 1 dozen tiffany blue color base with white swirl - raspberry lemon. 1 dozen white color base with tiffany blue swirl - red velvet. I put in the order, and picked all of them up on Saturday (2 days later). They looked absolutely amazing! I couldn't believe it! I'm very particular with things I want/like and I was so stunned when I opened the box and saw the beautiful cakepops. My party was on Sunday (1day after). The cakepops were moist and delicious. They were individually wrapped and boxed together. All my guests loved it, especially the red velvet ones! It was definitely one of the best party favors I had. Kathy was quick with responses, attentive and nice about the order information, and very great at what she does! The price was very reasonable with the quality of the product. I previously found another shop for 35 dollars a dozen(basic) but if you wanted swirls or toppings it goes up to 60 dollars a dozen. So when I found out the price for Kathy's Kakes (24 dollars per dozen), I was very happy. :) Thank you Kathy! Can't wait to order some more soon!

Cute box with cute cake pops!

    I. LOVE. CAKE. POPS. Actually, Kathy's Kakes was my first experience with cake pops, and what a darn good experience it was! I bought the $12 for a dozen LivingSocial deal a while back, and I found the perfect opportunity to redeem it. I emailed Kathy on Monday for one dozen regular cake pops (half white chocolate, half red velvet) and requested them for Saturday. She confirmed my order and arranged the pick-up time for 11 AM at Sunset Stationers. Saturday morning, I picked up a cute box of 12 precious cake pops, each individually wrapped. The white chocolate cake pops were wonderfully sweet: rich, dense vanilla cake surrounded by a sweet white chocolate coating. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/kathys-kakes-san-francisco-2?select=LToMGaRAlYr96t4W0zwSNw#wS_cRQ_fsNFIuxcdAe0rDw) From the looks of it, the cake pop is held together with butter--mmmmmm. But my favorite (of 2 haha) was the red velvet. I think it's a yellow cake dyed red, surrounded by the same white chocolate coating and topped with red sprinkles. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/kathys-kakes-san-francisco-2?select=LToMGaRAlYr96t4W0zwSNw#-djSHyOvcytJFMgucuD23A) The cake is not as sweet, which better complements the sweet outer coating of the cake pop. The cake pops were delicious and well-presented, which made them a hit among the recipients. Thanks Kathy!

I purchased a Livingsocial for Kathy's Kakes, and emailed her to place my order. For a dozen cake pops, you can choose up to 2 flavors, but since I had a deal I could only choose from Red Velvet, Vanilla, and Chocolate. I opted to go with Vanilla and Chocolate since I am over the whole Red Velvet craze, and prefer to avoid food coloring in desserts. Kathy was responsive and emailed me back right away to set up a time and place to pick up the cake pops. They were ready when promised, and everyone oohed and aahed over the presentation of it. I only tried the Vanilla (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/kathys-kakes-san-francisco-2?select=ECWJEzQXfm02vjNRWhIFsA#ECWJEzQXfm02vjNRWhIFsA), but it was really, really sweet. I actually cut it up into little pieces and only ate maybe 1/4 of the pop, but my teeth almost started aching. However, someone else tried the chocolate flavor and really enjoyed that one, but did say it was very rich. I don't think cake pops are for me, but if you enjoy them, please give Kathy a try!

    Lovely packaging

I found Kathy in yelp and was extremely happy with my order. Kathy was able to provide 26 cake pops within the 48hr notice. They were delicious and will definitely order again. Tina

I'm always hunting for spots like this because I have a weakness for those over-the-top, Instagram-worthy desserts that look like diabetes in a dish. Like most places in this genre, A Buttercup is small, modern, and minimalist with limited seating. If you plan to go, aim for off-hours unless you enjoy waiting in line for sugar. The decor is cute and trendy, perfect for photos if that's part of your dessert ritual. As they say, "you eat with your eyes first," and when it comes to presentation, this place definitely gets an A+. The desserts look stunning and set high expectations. Unfortunately, that's where things started to crumble. It's like going to see your favorite artist live. You've watched the videos, memorized the songs, and paid for the experience. But instead of the electric performance you imagined, you get someone lip-syncing and barely connecting with the crowd. That was this place in dessert form. We ordered the Mango Bingsoo on our first visit, and when it arrived, we were surprised by how small the portion was. The guy next to us even looked over and said, "Whatever that is, I'm getting that next time." He shouldn't have. The Bingsoo looked great but was bland, and the "snow" was more chunky ice than soft shave. The Thai Tea Roti was also not what I expected. It came with Thai tea ice cream and sauce alongside a roti that was fried to a crunch. Interesting idea, just not the best execution. The sauce and ice cream needed a stronger Thai tea flavor to balance the crispy roti, and the flavors never quite came together. Overall, A Buttercup nails the aesthetics but misses the flavor. If you're here for the photos, you'll be happy. If you're here for the taste, you'll leave with a full camera roll and an unsatisfied sweet tooth.

The coconut strips were also the perfect addition. Super decadent and overall the perfect sweet treat I agree with the other reviews that portions + presentation are a bit disappointing, but it was still undeniably tasty food

Service was nice and prompt. We ordered one of their new items. The salted duck egg bingsoo, as well as a Thai tea lava cake. The Thai tea lava cake was rich and cocoa-y, pairing so well with the Thai tea ice cream. The star of the show, however, was definitely the shaved ice. The portion size was nice and large, and the mochi on top was so soft and chewy. The salted duck egg topping tasted like the filling in the lava egg yolk buns from dim sum, so earthy and rich and sweet with a perfect umami hit. It paired perfectly with the milky, not too sweet shaved ice. I love salted duck yolk everything and this is yet another item to add to that list! Naya is a bit pricy but so worth it for that bingsoo.

The flavor is so strong and I love the nuttiness to it. I think their matcha is from stonemill matcha! The thai jasmine green tea latte was also surprisingly really good. It was unique, and I liked how I could taste both the thai tea and the jasmine tea, they were both present and strong. I especially liked the jasmine aftertaste that lingered. Super floral! The japanese milk coffee was less bitter/strong compared to typical coffee ice cream, probably hence the milk. I think I would've enjoyed a stronger aroma of coffee flavor more, but it was still yum! The genmaicha is like a green tea with toasted rice, so it had a nutty flavor to it. I really don't think you're going to go wrong with any flavor because they all tasted so amazing to me. Workers are patient, I like how they let you sample the flavors! They usually have a line out the door especially on weekends, but it moves pretty quickly!
