I've been to this location many times. I enjoy the taste of the chicken and I've ordered for parties as well. They recently went up on their prices.. This disappoints me because the value is no longer worth the price paid. I was gonna order 100 wings for a party.. The price is now $125.. I clipped a coupon for popeyes and I got a 100pc mixed for $60. I purchased 4 wings mild today for 7.73. I love uncle Remus. The problem is they are right in the ghetto. Independence blvd. and Roosevelt is where no one should be. If you don't get robbed or shot you'll love the food. They put the sauce on with a huge brush so it's loaded perfectly. The fries are good as well. I always get wings fried hard with extra mild sauce and fries. The fried okra is also good. Originally from Cali but in town for the week and saw this place on Yelp with a little under 4 stars so decided to give it a try for lunch. The place is a bit barren with a few small tables and the customer service was not present at all, so not a good start. Ordered rib tips but they didn't have any available so decided to go with the chicken and tilapia combo. After about 10 minutes, I received my order which turned out to be okay. The chicken and tilapia had the hot sauce drizzled on top of it versus dipped into it so the whole piece actually was not flavored the same, with parts of just fried chicken. I asked if they had any dipping sauce for the fries and fried okra, like ketchup or ranch, which they did not. My orders are specific. I told the guy to make sure my food was fried hard. He said it will be 15mins. I wait the 15mins and my order still wasn't ready. First, they need to update their menu. Since they changed their prices, all you see is product description. They don't have any alternative menus. You have to ask the cashier for pricing. Second, the chicken was well cooked. Nice, crispy, juicy. Yet, it was bland. The only way it was edible was with the sauce. That somewhat sweet, yet tangy mild sauce was ok. As for the sides, the fries & fried okra was bland. Maybe I went on a bad night. There were a lot of customers in the place, but the service was a bit slow. After waiting for an hour, I log into the text from Uncle Remus, and I attempt to see where my food is. THE ORDER WAS CANCELED by the store, supposedly because they were unable to fulfill it. AFTER leaving me waiting an hour. By this time it was 10 pm, and everything was closed. I wouldn't have known that I will not be receiving my food had I not checked to see what was taking so long, and now I get to go out and try to find something else to eat. The text says my payment will be refunded WITHIN THREE BUSINESS DAYS. So, you screw up my order, take my payment electronically, leave me waiting for an hour, cancel my order, and I have to wait three days to receive my funds back? No phone call to acknowledge the screwup on the part of uncle Remus? Wrong answer, not the first time this place has kept me waiting an unreasonable amount of time, and this is definitely the last time I will be wasting my time money at this disaster of a business. Placed an online order and was said to pick up at 9:25. Got there at 9:20 stood in line and by the time it was my turn it was 9:25 and to my surprise Order was not ready and they was just dropping the meat. Stood here while the staff laughed and talked shit towards one another and complain about a caller who had called in because they order was wrong. As a matter of fact several orders were wrong as I was standing there and people coming in saying they either was missing something or the got the wrong stuff. Get home to find out no mild sauce on my fries and the extra mild sauce I paid for was not there. Black businesses always complain how we don't support one another and this is why. You can't take your job serious and you lack attention and customer service So why not support non black businesses as they seem to make sure they are doing their jobs by supporting the customers that keep them in business. Trust the more negative reviews they get the less money they will make and eventually they will close ALL LOCATIONS. My advice would be to get your business in order and look to hire people that understands time management and professionalism. The chicken was pretty good. Unfortunately the service sucked. The menu had items they no longer served. They were out of potatoes and I get the impression they no longer served mashed potatoes. The fries I got were soaked and soggy. They made them first and let them sit in the mild sauce while they waited the "20 minutes" for the chicken to be done. It took about 35 minutes from ordering to eating and the fries sat there getting nastier and nastier. They also had no drinks to sell. The soda fountain was not working except for water and ice which they didn't even mention. They had a large Coca Cola cooler in the back but it was empty. To get drinks I had to go next door to the liquor store. The dining room was grungy and not well maintained. They weren't cleaning the tables after the customers left and it left people looking for clean tables. I'd recommend skipping them until they get their act together. read more

This review is for the inability to call in orders. I have ordered from this location before and have called an order. Additionally, I have called on multiple occassions to place a catfish order, and they have constantly been out. An item listed on the menu, should never run out. The chicken was fried twice the inside of the chicken was dark and the skin of the chicken was so over cooked you could've seriously broken a tooth. This restaurant has fallen off a great deal over the years. I went in today & ordered wings. My fries were on top with no sause instead of under the wings as usual. There was such a small amount of sause on the wings until I have to add my own sauce at home.
