Although I'm from the south suburbs and usually go to Harold's, I LOVE this fried chicken!! It's more expensive than Harold's but I actually like it better. For 4 wings and fries it's $10.59 before tax! Fortunately, on Mondays and Tuesdays they have buy one get one free which is a much better deal. What seals the deal for me with Uncle Remus is definitely the sauce. My order was made fresh and hot. The service was good and the restaurant was clean, including the restroom. There are tables for those that want to eat there, but most people take their orders to go. There's convenient parking on the side of the restaurant or on the street. Growing up I would hear people talk about Uncle Remus chicken. Back then the only location I knew of was in the city so I never tried their chicken. Fast forward and now they have a location in Broadview. Its been there for some years and I am just now checking it out. The place has a few tables should you choose to eat your food there but I got mine to go. The table I sat at while waiting for my food could have used a quick wipe down. It wasn't filthy but it had sauce remnants. The cashier was very polite. I ordered 4 wings with mild sauce (and hungry girl syndrome did not kick in...I remembered to take a picture before I started eating...lol) The wait for my order was pretty reasonable. The chicken was freshly prepared, nice and crispy and the fries were hot. Now was I blown away by the taste? NO. I felt the chicken could have used a little salt and pepper and the sauce was kinda "different" compared to other sauces I've had. It was very sticky and, to me, was a bit on the sweet side and I am not a fan of sweet sauce. I loved the crispiness of the chicken though. I started a new job in the area and grabbed food for my family in the South Suburbs to take home with me. I ordered their Monday special waited patiently for my food. With adverse weather, I had a longer than normal transit home. I pulled over a decided to try some of the food I'd just purchased. I found only one chicken wing in the package. I called back to the store and verified how many pieces should have been included with my special. They confirmed 8; I only had 7. I called back again and told them I seemed to be missing 1 chicken wing. The gentleman that answered my call told me to just come back to the store. Upon returning, I identified myself to the gentleman taking orders. He referred me to a young lady preparing meals in the back. She came to the front and rudely demanded that I go and bring my entire order back into the store. I did. Upon my return, I let her know that if removed the one wing and some fries from the container. She rudely informed me that the package had originally contained two wings, because she remembered having packed it so. I said I had absolutely no reason to LIE about ONE piece of chicken. 5 stars for consistency. I've had Uncle Remus and was afraid that if I tried this location, I would receive mediocre chicken. I was surprised to have the same taste from both locations. I called in and ordered their lunch special. It came with 2 pieces of chicken, bun and fries. Covered in mild sauce and hot sauce. And it was damn delicious and very inexpensive for what you're getting. I have to come here for lunch more often. As far as their customer service? I've never had any problems. They have always been polite. I feel like the phone order system sucks and I feel that they don't drop the chicken till you pay anyways, but I'm used to it.
