Absolutely the best fried catfish in town! And the service is always served up with a smile I had the catfish plate with white beans and also greens. It came with a big portion of fish. My partner had the perch sandwich. It was all delicious. It's a small place that absolutely packs a punch!

Great southern style fish. They have grilled or fried options. Sandwiches or Plates. Best turnip Greens I've ever had! Fried catfish with their hot sauce was super delicious.

Great food and service! Very friendly, and the catfish was amazing! Wish I had room for dessert cause those looked delicious.

This was so so good! The food was amazing and crazy fresh and the service was wonderful. Everyone was so kind and made sure we were well taken care of. The greens and hush puppies were actually great and flavorful and the fish was hot and fresh. I highly recommend. Also great value, very dec portions.

So I recently got a order of food from here. My sister was visiting coming this way from Nashville to so this place is on the way. For the longest my sister said that I should be doing videos about my foodie adventures because I've been doing this for awhile. I started on TripAdvisor and Google platforms also. I saw this place on line a video of the back story of how they got started and I definitely needed to try this delicious looking food! I got myself a 3 piece Perch plate for me and mom. I got my sister s 3 piece whiting fish plate and I got a 10 PC whiting fish only plate. The fish is fried to a crisp and crunchy with hot sauce and tartar sauce on the side. The sauce is boss. One thing about whiting bones will be there more than Perch no bones but whiting is different. The Perch is delicious and crispy how the original Bankhead Seafood used to be. I can't speak on the renovation building because I have not visited. The whiting fish is delicious also and the pieces are big not small at all. I took a picture of my Perch fish plate I put the whiting fish plate in the fridge at the time. I ate from here on 9/11/2025. If you are ever in the area pull up and support them! Man if they had a location down here in the area it would be game over for some places ha lol.

Cajun perch, Mac and cheese, hush puppies and Cole slaw

Great food and super friendly service. We tried the cajun style perch and lemon pepper catfish, with a side of coleslaw, hush puppies, Mac and cheese and beans. My dad who lovesss catfish said it was the best he's ever had, which is saying a lot!

Visited the South for the first time and heard great things about this catfish restaurant! I got the fried catfish and my friend got the fried tilapia. The catfish was so soft and buttery!! It is definitely a softer fish than the tilapia. The breading is a little too salty for me but I think that's also a personal preference. I got my fried catfish with a side of fried okra and turnip greens. Fried okra was delicious but the greens were also a little bit salty for my taste. I'd get the baked beans next time. The restaurant has more of a hole-in-the-wall vibes and is causally run. Service was fast and staff were attentive and helpful.

I thoroughly enjoyed my first time visit to Uncle Larry's Fish!!! Food is cooked to order so don't go in being hasty! Signs posted set the proper expectation for all orders. This isn't a huge place but you can dine in comfortably. I placed a to go order to take back to my room. I ordered the 2 piece small whitening plate (Cajun). The plate came with two sides, which I went with white beans and fried okra. I opted for hush puppies instead of white bread. I didn't request fried hard on the fish nor the fried okra, like I normally do. It was a test & they passed!! Everything was so delicious, perfectly fried and well seasoned!! The customer service was personable and the inside of the restaurant has a very inviting vibe.....Felt like the inside of a loving home. I will definitely be back here whenever I'm in Chatt! My only regret was not ordering more food!

It just looks more like a bar rather than a place that would serve high quality fresh meals. Everything was clean and the service was great. We got a high top in the bar area and they had a high chair that was tall enough for our son to reach the table. It was great! We ordered the caesar salad to start.... made perfectly. Then we got our entrees. Pictured below.... Both exceeded our expectations! We got our son the kids buttered noodles and he ate a lot of my chicken that I ordered. Great dinner and we ALL highly recommend!

On a recent trip to the area, we decided to stop here for lunch after reading the great Yelp…read morereviews. I must admit that the reviews were spot on. Everything about this experience was top-notch! From being seated quickly upon entering, to explaining how the ticket validation thing worked (more info at the end), customer service was some of the best I've been shown. The ambiance is chic but casual-great for both cozy date night or fun family night. Our server was so friendly and patient as we asked questions about the menu. I ordered the grilled salmon with spicy crab remoulade and my guy ordered the smoked wings with a side of fries. I was happy that I was able to select my own sides from the ones on the menu so I opted for the fried Brussels sprouts with maple and bacon and the buttermilk whipped potatoes. After a short wait, our food was brought out. This was truly one of the best salmon dishes I have ever eaten! The salmon was cooked to my liking, the potatoes were soft and fluffy and the fried Brussels sprouts were absolutely divine and perfect. The remoulade was a little salty but it may have been just been my taste. The potatoes helped with that so it was not a deal breaker. My guy was pleased with his food as well and I could tell he enjoyed everything he ate. We agreed that we would take this trip back just to eat this meal again. It was truly a wonderful experience, from beginning to end. I highly recommend trying this gem out! Pro Tip: The restaurant validates parking. If you park in the lot across the street, do not prepay on the app or online. Ask the servers at the front to validate to save the $18 parking fee before you order and within 15 minutes after entering. Unfortunately, we didn't do this and the restaurant cannot reimburse the money after you've already paid. You've been warned!

# Scottie's on the River -- Chattanooga, Tennessee…read more **A Beautiful Setting, Remarkable Potato Soup, and a Few Delightful Surprises** There are restaurants one visits for the food, others for the atmosphere, and occasionally one discovers a place that manages to deliver both. Scottie's on the River is one of those places. Our party of four had traveled from Murfreesboro to spend the day exploring Chattanooga. By Monday afternoon, our sightseeing had given way to a more pressing consideration: lunch. As luck would have it, we arrived during happy hour. The restaurant's setting is simply magnificent. Overlooking the Tennessee River, it offers the kind of waterfront ambiance one might expect to find in Paris, New York, San Francisco, or Los Angeles. The delightful difference? We didn't have to endure a ninety-minute wait for the privilege of being seated. We settled in with a martini and margaritas, followed by a selection of fish and chips, hamburgers, and fried shrimp. Before our entrées arrived, we shared a bowl of potato soup, accompanied by cornbread and hush puppies. The main courses were perfectly acceptable, though hardly extraordinary. My fried shrimp were fine, while the hamburger was a little on the dry side. Nothing particularly disappointing, but nothing that would have me planning a return visit, either. **But the undisputed star of the afternoon was the potato soup.** Imagine everything that makes a perfectly baked potato irresistible, transformed into a beautifully composed bowl of soup. It began with an inviting aroma that promised something special, followed by a rich, deeply satisfying flavor, a wonderfully balanced consistency, and a texture that was almost impossibly silky. It is remarkable how often the simplest dishes reveal the greatest culinary skill. There is nowhere to hide behind elaborate presentations or exotic ingredients. Everything depends on technique, seasoning, balance, and execution. This soup delivered on every count. And then there were the hush puppies. I must confess that my experience with this particular Southern delicacy has been somewhat limited. I am reasonably certain that no cardiologist would recommend making them a dietary staple. Then again, I hadn't come to Scottie's for a consultation on preventive medicine. I had come to enjoy a good meal. And enjoy them I did. Absolutely delicious. In fact, the potato soup and hush puppies alone would be sufficient reason for me to return. Now, a small confession: I am something of a martini purist. My request for a stirred rather than shaken martini earned me a slightly puzzled look. The drink arrived a touch over-diluted, but without the slightest harshness and, most importantly, beautifully cold. It was garnished with two olives, however, and as martini folklore would have it, one olive is customary, three are generous, but two suggest the bartender may have taken a personal dislike to you. As I wasn't sitting at the bar, I chose not to take offense. **And then there is that view.** The Tennessee River provides a spectacular backdrop, lending the entire experience a sense of occasion. I would venture to say that the scenery alone accounts for a good 45 percent of the pleasure of dining here. Fortunately, the kitchen, particularly when it comes to soup and hush puppies, makes a persuasive case for the remaining 55 percent. **My conclusion?** Scottie's on the River offers a thoroughly enjoyable combination of good food, memorable surroundings, and the kind of relaxed atmosphere that makes an afternoon linger pleasantly in one's memory. Was every detail absolutely flawless? No. But perfection is not always what makes a restaurant worth remembering. Sometimes it is a remarkable bowl of soup, an unexpected culinary discovery, good company, and a magnificent view. I would happily recommend Scottie's to anyone within a 50-mile radius of Chattanooga. And if your travels take you farther afield, I would suggest making the detour. **Four well-deserved stars.**

After reading all the reviews we headed south and are pleased to share that everything and everyone we encountered were absolutely top notch...food was prepared perfectly from the breads, calamari, trout and swordfish; and the proportions more than enough to require a stroll along the river after the Chocolate chocolate cake. Our server was amazing and you can't beat the riverfront location and views. They don't take reservations and those negative reviews usually involved large parties and special needs that take time to accommodate. Check Scottie's out, and enjoy! I would have given 5 Stars except for the pay to park phenomenon and QR codes that can be just annoying and have appeared in every major city. Nothing is free anymore including parking. We will be back.

Not for food because I had other plans, but I heard they had some of the best cake in the city so I made it a point to go try their cake. And let me just ask you have you ever been kissed by a group of angels?! Because that's what this experience is like. I walk in look at the cake. The lady at the counter is very friendly very helpful very attentive. She smiled the whole time she was friendly. She answered my questions with no attitude. I mean it was full on top-notch customer service. So she cut me this massive slice of cake hand it over. She already put the utensils in the bag. She put the napkins in the bag and everything I needed was there. I didn't have to ask for anything. She had it all ready for me for a smooth transaction. And that's all fine and dandy, but let's be honest. We're here for the taste. We're here for the quality of the cake and my God those angels came back with all their friends and all their family and just grabbed my taste buds and massage them and just made my pallet feel like it's never felt before. The carrot cake is moist, it's fresh, it's not too sweet, there's no weird random additional items mixed in it. It's a classic well balanced, top-notch slice of carrot cake. And I'll be honest at first I almost didn't get it cause I was like man over $10 for a slice of cake is a little bit steep but I'd pay $20 for this slice of cake. That's how delicious it is. With all that Saide, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The cake was delicious. The service was phenomenal all in all well worth it would try again. And don't tell nobody I was trying to wait till later to eat it, but I cracked it up at a stoplight and had to get a little taste and boy did it take a lot of willpower to close that container

The cheesesteak was super fresh, loaded with cheese, and exactly what I was hoping for. One tip: make sure to ask for coleslaw and a pickle if you want them with your meal. Of course, I couldn't leave without trying one of their cakes, so I went with the Oreo cake. It was incredibly moist and delicious! The restaurant was pretty busy during our visit, and service was a little slow getting started, but overall it was a good experience. We enjoyed it enough to come back for breakfast the next day. This time I ordered biscuits and gravy, bacon, and home fries. Everything was good, but the bacon was definitely the star of the show! It tasted so fresh and was absolutely delicious. The home fries were good, although I thought they could have used a little more seasoning. Naturally, I had to try another slice of cake! This time I went with the mint chocolate chip, which reminded me of an Andes mint candy. Just like the Oreo cake, it was super moist and full of flavor. The menu has plenty of options, and the cake selection alone is worth checking out.

We ordered the sample platter, which lets you choose five different dishes. We tried the shrimp gumbo, étouffée, and red beans and rice--and somehow, the chef surprised us by bringing out six dishes instead of five! Talk about going above and beyond! Several members of our family normally aren't fans of New Orleans-style food, so we honestly weren't sure what everyone would think. Well... every single person loved it! The food was so good that the bowls were literally licked clean. Everything was packed with flavor, perfectly prepared, and clearly made with a lot of love. Then came the surprise dessert: fried blueberry bread pudding bites with a bourbon caramel glaze. WOW! The plate didn't stand a chance--we cleaned that one too! And whatever you do, DO NOT leave without trying the beignets! They were absolutely amazing and the perfect way to finish the meal. What really made the experience special, though, was the hospitality.
