In Rock City Gardens at Lookout Mountain we were a bit hungry after doing some exploration of the grounds. Cafe 7 was strategically located at Rock City Gardens where Lover's Leap is. Order at the counter and find a table to dine at. All the tables are outside. Great views everywhere you look. Purchased Catfish tacos to share with my fabulous bride. It was pricey, but it was quite tasty. Actually, everything on the menu was pricey. Guess it is to be expected at a touristy place with awesome views. Make sure you clean up after yourselves. Don't want any trash flying away. Rock City Gardens and Lookout Mountain is too lovely a place to allow trash to ruin its beauty. read more

This is one of the restaurant options in Rock City and the only one that comes with table service. The menu is very concise and certainly could use a few more options while the beer menu is decent. The views you get to enjoy from your dining table are hard to match unless you are at a ski resort or other mountaintop establishment. Rock City is on Lookout Mountain so as far as I know this might be the only place in the world where you can look out over 7 states as you eat and drink so that is worthy of having a beer and some food at this establishment at least once in your life. Beautiful view! This cafe is so strategically placed - even if you are not hungry, I recommend stopping by for a drink of two, and breathe in that fresh air. We went during covid, and restaurant was diligent with social distancing. Their fried green tomatoes were delicious! One of the best we've had. My fish sandwich was rightly done - tender and flavorful. My husband opted for chicken sandwich which was delicious too. We absolutely loved their Mojito. You can tell it was freshly done, with lots of mint. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant, and soaking in that view with delicious food and drinks. read more

Worth the cost of mediocre food for our table and the view, and I guess that the staff behind the counter were super friendly. The "fresh/seasonal" chalkboard menu had about 4 or 5 things on it, if that, and maybe there was somewhere else nearby to get kiddy-chow like the hot dogs and pizza that I saw nearby tables eating, but we must've missed that. Wound end spending way too much for my kids to eat frozen-heated chicken nuggets, and for my husband and I to eat a pre-made strawberry and greens salad with rubbery grilled chicken. BUT if I were at Rock City again, I'd eat at any of these places that had a view like this for sure. read more

There are two restaurants, one is sit down the other is grab and go. Not sure if they have the same menu? The cookie dough was tasty, maybe both places sell it? Located inside the Rock City Gardens. Awesome food and service with an unbeatable view overlooking the valley. Shared the chicken and waffles with my boyfriend for a quick pick me up. Great spicy pickles. He had the draft Son of a Peach and I had their house blackberry honeysuckle spritzer to drink. Our server, Lori, was over the top great. Situated at Lover's Leap in Rock City, the restaurant is only reached with admission. The blue trail takes you there in 5 minutes, or you can take the scenic red trail to get there in about 15 minutes. The views from every table are stunning, so 5 stars for ambience. Our server did a great job at first, but dropped the ball halfway through, leaving us to scavenge for condiments and waiting for a bill when we wanted to go exploring. Most of the food was mediocre. My husband's burger was probably the best of what the 7 of us ordered. Three of us ordered mac and cheese as sides. It needed salt. A lot of salt and a little pepper made it pretty good. My girls both ordered chicken fried chicken. They only told me later that it was terrible, but didn't want to wait for something else to come out because service from the kitchen was slow despite the lack of guests. My fried green tomato sandwich was swimming in mayonnaise and sauce to the point that it was very unappetizing, but the way it was put together, you couldn't really take the sandwich apart to take off sauce. We enjoyed the view immensely, and I recommend Cafe 7 for a snack and drink, but personally I'd skip the meal. read more

Not the same restaurant anymore. Limited menu and the shrimp and grits cheese sauce sounds gross. Settled for the salad which was good with fresh made dressing but couldn't add protein. What? No table service. Great view that comes with the price of admission into Rock City of $37 each. So there's that. read more

We had such a great time eating at Café 7 while visiting Rock City. The Café is located at the midway point and has both garden and scenic views from the bluff. Customer service is very upbeat and friendly. We had a great time talking with the different members of the staff that came by during our visit. Very dog friendly as well. This is probably one of the most pet friendly place I know and we had an absolutely wonderful time. read more

We became Chattanooga tourists today and went to Rock City. A beautiful sunny day. The flowers and scenery were beautiful. A leisure walk through a well known favorite spot. When we came up on Cafe 7 and decided to give it a try. We selected a table overlooking lovers leap. The food was amazing. BBQ smell in the air that makes your mouth water. Such a great place to have lunch while walking around rock city. It's about mid way through so plan accordingly. This place has such spectacular views it's nice just sitting outside and enjoying the view. On top of great views our waiter was one of the nicest ppl I've come across. Young guy, very attentive and kind. Funny we were discussing how ppl in Miami are never as nice as ppl from more up north and when we asked him where he was from he was from ft. Lauderdale which is right by Miami. I couldn't believe it. The pace of living elsewhere makes ppl more approachable and kind I guess. I digress. So the service was excellent and so was the food. I ordered a shrimp pasta which I loved and babe got the chicken pasta. Only problem was we sat outside by the corner where there a big bush, right by the house of the owner of rock city and there was hornets flying right on us. It was a little nerve racking as I kept trying to shoo them away without hitting them and getting them pissed off. They asked if we wanted to be moved but really the view was so perfect we stayed. They also were very nice and brought a bowl of water for the puppy. My sister ordered shrimp and grits and said it was fantastic. My brother in law ordered a burger and loved it as well. My younger cousin was the only one that didn't quite enjoy his plate because a spider fell on the corner of it when they put the plate down. We were sitting outside and it wasn't a big deal at all. My sister moved it off before he could even really see. He's a picky eater and easily turns finicky about things. At some point he mentioned he didn't want to eat it and told the server when he got up to use the bathroom. They later came to tell us they were going to take it off the bill. We were so embarrassed not knowing he had even mentioned anything and were very upset at him since he had eaten most of the chicken from the plate. This is a great little restaurant in the middle of Rock City. The view is spectacular and the food was very good. I especially loved the Garlicky Linguine with added shrimp. The Fried Green Tomato appetizer was delicious and it came with pimento cheese and bread. The nachos were also very good. The burger was quite large and delicious. The kids all enjoyed their kid's meals. This is a great spot to take a break from the trail and enjoy a nice meal at a very reasonable price! Highly recommended! read more

I have been to rock city so many times and I don't know how I have never eaten here! It was incredible! The views are just stunning. We walked right up and got a table with no wait at lunch time. This cafe is located inside rock city so you need to buy a ticket to eat here just FYI! Food was delicious. We split the pork sandwich and both wished we had gotten our own because it was fabulous! This is the perfect romantic spot or just a great spot for friends. A little pricey but totally worth the splurge! Will definitely be back! read more

What a unbelievable view! Visited rock city to hike solo while on a mini vacation/work trip. Had no idea that there was a place to eat here. I really would like to go back with my fiancé and have a glass of wine here. I was really interested in getting the frog leg app but opted for the fried green tomato and pimento cheese app instead. The app was plenty of food for myself with a glass a wine. The view was breath taking. The wait staff was Pleasant and moved me inside when a passing by shower came and gone. Great food with beautiful views! The tables are spaced out properly so no one is blocking your view of the mountains.

My expectations for places in touristy spots are usually set pretty low. I thought I'd just grab something small to tide me over but was enticed by the nice menu. We sat outside on the beautiful but windy day. The service was spot on, friendly and quick. They were busy so I didn't expect the food to arrive fast but it did. I got the nachos with pork, house made potato chips, bbq sauce...there was a generous amount of the flavorful pork and the chips, while doused with toppings remained fresh and crisp, The others at the table were equally happy with their choices. Obviously this place is all about location. Great views with outside seating. However, food was pretty bad. Kids chicken tenders were inedible- rubbery and tasteless. The rest of us had the bbq sandwich which was middle of the road at best. We were warned the chips were spicy, and although they were - they tasted like bland chips with tons of packet Cajun spice thrown on. Added to the fact that we think the server forgot to put our food in - the simple tenders and bbq sandwich took over 30 mins with multiple tables being served before us. Beer selection was ok and made the experience just bearable. Problem is, this is a captive customer base - you will eat there due to the scenery and location. read more

An unexpected surprise! A nice place to eat , enjoy the view and take a break from the Gardens. This restaurant is in the middle of Rock City. I expected to pay a bit more because we were in the park and we did. The meals range from $8-$15, kid's meals $6. (Drinks $4). I didn't however expect the food to be as good as it was! We ordered lunch type foods, hamburger, hot dog, spicy chicken sandwich, and bbq nachos. The homemade potato chips were awesome. I'd highly recommend the bbq nachos! Although an appetizer, it made a great meal! We didn't order the dinner type meals (steak, salmon, shrimp creole), but they sure did look scrumptious! Our server Micheal was very kind and helped us to be compfy during a coming thunderstorm. Consider 2 things: Weather and schedule. Cafe 7 is at the top of the mountain INSIDE Rock City park at the overlook. and has outdoor seating. Also, if you plan to eat there, this restaurant has a limited serving schedule closing at 4pm and may be only open on the weekends during peak season.. All in all a good choice for lunch if your planning a trip to Rock City. Next time, I really must try the creole shrimp and cheese grits! read more

There will be few times (if ever) in your lifetime that you will be able to enjoy a delicious, relaxed meal with this kind of view. Absolutely, words-can't-describe, stunning. During our visit, a solo bluegrass musician made for some amazing ambiance as we ate and drank...it was a perfect moment which I'll never forget. I found the pricing to be VERY reasonable considering the location. I had the Catfish po boy (great), mac n cheese (great, just needed some salt), and the berry cobbler (deelish). The food and service were 4 stars, the location adds a star all by itself. Some caveats - they have weird hours so call ahead. Also the seating is OUTDOORS, and not all of it is shaded, the sun exposed tables can be very warm in the summer. There are a lot of shaded tables as well though. We got one which was half & half and it worked fine since there were scattered clouds passing over during our meal. I'd give this place my highest possible recommendation if you are visiting Rock City. Ideally I'd try to hit Cafe 7 (which is halfway through the park) around 1-3pm for lesser lunch crowds. read more

The view is absolutely fantastic. They really took advantage of the location and made sure you were able to enjoy a nice relaxing meal while enjoying the breeze. The hostess and our server were extremely friendly which was nice! The hostess chatted with my grandmother about the.m swinging bridge and our waitress seemed to be around when needed but not in a hovering way. As for the food, it was good. I got the Cafe 7 salad which had a great dressing but really needed more strawberries for the amount of lettuce and other toppings that were present. My mother and grandmother got the first salad (essentially a wedge) and seemed to really enjoy their meals). I would say having another option to add to the salads other than chicken would have been beneficial. That being said I was only worried about that because it was Good Friday. Pricing isn't terrible and the food exceeded my expectations seeing as it's right in the park. Definitely worth stopping at! read more

Our party of four happened upon Cafe 7 on our tour of Rock City. We were told to choose our table, which was nice so we could grab a seat with a great view. The menu proved to offer more choices than anticipated and, once our food arrived, we found every plate to be very tasty--from salad and pasta to sandwich and fish. Was just touring Rock City & stopped in for lunch to enjoy the amazing views. Was greeted by the sweetest lady. We briefly shared stories & she gave me the biggest hug & flowers.
