I've been here 3-4 times and only ever purchased the chocolate piñata. Because who's ever heard of a piñata you eat the inside AND outside of? It's so good! The menu is pricey but it's a fun splurge every so often. There's plenty of dining inside and out. The place is quite huge. The service is fairly good. Anyways, once we sit down, I just tell them we want waters for everyone and the chocolate piñata. 10-15 minutes later, voila! Out comes this massive tray with chocolate and caramel sauces splattered throughout and mounds of whipped cream in each corner. Usually the birthday kid gets to take a crack at spilling out the contents. So a wooden baton is handled gently by swatting at the top of the piñata. Out pours churros, strawberries blackberries and pineapple. Everyone grabs a skewer and digs in. It's a fun, creative dessert that feeds our family of 7. We ordered almost $100 worth of food online to go, only to show up and realize they had given it to the wrong person when we showed up to pick it up. At first they were actually argumentative until they realized the mistake was on them. We had to wait 30+ minutes for them to remake everything, and the manager (Samantha) offered absolutely nothing to help make it right... a small discount or something would have been nice for the inconvenience of our time and our guests. The patio and gas lamps are beautiful and it is a lovely patio to sit and enjoy the views. The queso blanco with ground beef is really good! The rest of the food was bland. The Tex-mex combination had cold sauce and unmelted cheese and the taco shell definitely came from a cold box. The sauces themselves were nothing to crave again. The size of the drinks for the price is downright absurd. It is completely filled with ice and literally they put a whole lime in my drink. (The picture is AFTER the ice has melted down) and it's still up to the top of the glass. Who charges $15.20 for a whiskey glass? Frauds. The manager laughed at us when we said we wouldn't be back because of the absurd drink prices and did nothing to make it right, he obviously doesn't care about customers returning. My wife and I had a reservation for a table to celebrate my birthday. It was a Friday (we anticipated a lot of people being there) we arrived and notified the girl at the front who told us there is a wait (which is fine). We sat outside and noticed people arriving and getting seated and thought well no biggie. After 3 or 4 people went ahead of us I reminded the girl at the front and lo and behold there was a table ready in about 5 mins. We are seated at a high table (which was unstable and rocked left and right) waited 10 mins for someone to notice us. Finally I flagged the girl who sat us down and asked if we could change tables. Her response "Sorry I cannot do that all tables are booked" they were three tables available and I had a reservation. I told the manager who said that simply wasnt true. I understand in this environment of COVID we all need to social distance, realize service may be a bit off and patience is needed, but to be ignored.... Come 'on Julio! The food is average, but the price reflects premium service and deliciousness. Neither of which are present. We have fajitas and enchiladas. We really thought Taco Cabana would have beaten Julio's in a taste test. Save yourself time and money. If you want the 'view' there are plenty of restaurants next to it. Maybe they are under new management or something but they seem to have hit their stride. Everything you would look for in service and quality was met with a high standard. The tables looked nice. Known for their chocolate piñata with fruit, this is a popular place for large groups. The interiors were nice. We sat in the patio near the water. It was a little hot. The salsa was pretty sweet, guacamole a little too chunky and the queso a little salty. The chips were delicious but were so thin that it was stressful eating it because it kept breaking. We split a Coronado Pollo platter..two chicken enchiladas with red sauce, one chicken enchilada with green sauce, one chicken taco, one chicken tamale, one chicken taco, beans and rice. The food is always good but the way they are handeling covid19 is way ridiculous. We come here all the time but this is our last time coming. The reason why we didnt leave is because we got here in two separate cars and our friend drove all the way from Sugarland. We had to wait for our table and you cant wait 1) inside and/or 2) under the tent. They suggest you go to your car or wait outside in benches by the water. I am pregnant and was carrying our 2 year old and they made no exceptions. We go to Pappasitos, El Tiempo, and Lupes and we have never been asked to wait in our cars or outside during the pandemic. I spoke to the manager and general manager and both of them claimed those rules come from the owner. Clearly, the owner doesn't know anything about customer service. But they sent me a decent coupon, so I thought at least one more try so I didn't have to cook that night. I guess I should have saved my money. I ordered the family kit of beef fajitas using their App. The app quoted me a pickup time and so I planned to be there at that time. When I finally got my food, I had been waiting an additional 40 minutes. When I got home, my order was missing the queso I ordered and the beef fajitas were not cooked enough.
