I had a good time at Uncle Julio's Restaurant enjoying fajitas with my foodie friend. We came to a monthly meetup with my friends living in the north Houston area. Getting here from where I live was really convenient, only 40 minutes. The freeways took us here. Traffic wasn't too bad on a Friday evening. The restaurant is located in a fancy mall with waterfront views. I was told by the guests that last month's dinner was more efficient as they had 2 waiters and everything was fast. This time, the wait was horrendous. We waited over 30 minutes for water jugs refilled. Our fajitas were missing tortilla and it took them 10 minutes to deliver. Food was phenomenal. I could taste the chargrilled on the chicken and beef. They were tender and juicy. Oh the chips were so delicious. I had to get a second bowl from the adjacent table. My friend ordered a birthday surprise for his friend. It was a dramatic presentation. I wish I lived nearby. I would have come here more often. read more

Decided to try out a new spot. I originally wanted to come for happy hour but I came for lunch. I got the steak bowl which came highly recommended by the server & in my opinion it wasn't anything special. I felt like the steak was a bit chewy. I also got the chicken tortilla soup which was delicious but could've been hotter. For my drink I got the swirl which is sangria and tequila and that was a hit. The service was good and lots of seating inside and outside. Parking is also easy and free. I'd come back but probably only for the happy hour drinks. read more

I stopped in for take out. While the experience of customer service and atmosphere was nice, I was extremely disappointed with the nachos I ordered. Chips completely soggy! To salvage this I am in the process of digging out and scraping all the topping off the chips. I guess I add chips to my grocery list for tomorrow. Overall the toppings and cheese is just OK. I should have gone to Taco Cabana, or Tony's Tacos. Anyway, I won't be ordering this again. By the way, there was a complimentary bag of chips incuded but the oil on those was overwhelming and not in a good way. I had to toss those. In all likelyhood will not return. read more

Food was great but service was terrible. The place was empty for a Saturday night and we still had to wait on our server to check on us. By the time he came by to see if we needed anything our food was cold and we were still waiting on the rest of our meal. Hopefully management gets it together and things improve. I first ordered a Margarita! It was amazing! Thanks Sandra! Made with love to perfection. I decided that I did not want any meat so I ordered the onion and cheese with tomatillo sauce, black beans and cilantro rice. I asked for extra tomatillo sauce to go and it was $2.50 which was extremely expensive for two ounces. However, this simple cheese enchiladas dish was fabulous! Spicy and textured. The beans mixed with chipotle pepper sauce. The cilantro rice flagrant. I think it needed a squeeze or two of lime and to be cooked a bit longer but overall very nice. Good job Tio! read more

Food use to be good, however the quality has gone down. I use to love their Tortilla Soup, instead of corn, they use hominy. More hominy than anything else. I don't remember them using hominy years ago. I understand prices have gone up everywhere, however if you are going to charge more like some of the other well known Mexican restaurants at least ensure the quality is there. First, service was slow and awful. It took about 15 minutes to receive lukewarm queso and cold chips. Next, our food took OVER AN HOUR. We placed our order around 6:30, did not receive till 7:45. It took ten minutes to receive an extra plate for the fajitas order. His margarita was spilt on the table and on him, and we were told that we would still have to pay for it. The worst part, all of it was that none of the food was right. My boyfriend received cheese quesadillas after ordering chicken, and I ordered a half order of quesadillas, received the full and had to pay for the full. We had to walk inside to get refills on our drinks because we were waiting over 20 minutes for a refill. We will not be returning! Worst service ever! read more

Second time at this restaurant. The first time I went I had enchiladas and it wasn't that bad. The second time was horrible. The food was cold. I had a steak bowl. The rice was cold the steak was room temperature. It was not good. Chipotle has better steak bowls. The margaritas are good. I love mango so I ordered a mago margarita and it was good. I ordered cheese enchilada and got a massive plate of food for $14.00. My husband got the fajitas for $32.00! And got two small strips of meat. I don't mind spending $100 or more on a meal. But this is outrageous! I have been to many Mexican restaurants and they all serve fajitas and the portions are great. This was nonsense and definitely not worth it. I will not be back. I literally picked out the trio because we were going to try it for our first time. The trio costs more and usually that happens when you get more. It was quite disgusting to see a meal that wasn't even enough for one person. They were not busy at all. Service was good. The chips were amazing! Fresh and warm. They give two different types of salsa, my husband liked one and I liked the other lol, all about preference. The grilled chicken was good with veggies on a sizzling plate. Quesadillas are this with cheese and grilled nicely. They have indoor and outdoor seating and a great ambiance for either choice. YUM! First time at this location and had great service at the bar. Complimentary freshly fried tortilla chips and two different refreshing salsas were on point. One salsa was a little bit thicker and had a little more heat, but both full of flavor. The fajita beef & chicken nachos were the perfect combination of crunchy and cheesy. Beef was tender and chicken was moist. Both were seasoned well. The skinny margarita was a refreshing blend of tequila, orange liqueur and lime juice. Churros were served warm. Deliciousness covered in cinnamon-laced sugar, crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. Served with chocolate and caramel dipping sauces. A little pricey for lunch but delicious all the same. Last night was a complete letdown. We used to love this place and very much looked forward to enjoying it last night but the service was practically non-existent. I'm not sure what was wrong with our waitress, but she was not mentally present. I suppose she was having a bad night. It was not very busy. What's worse is the food was below standard and tasted off. The chips and salsa had a bad aftertaste and left an odd feeling on the tongue like a film. My wife ordered the tortilla soup and said it tasted like it was from a can. I ordered the steak tacos and the steak tasted off as well. I was thankful to have made it through the night and woke up feeling well. This may be the only Mexican Restaurant where the fajitas are worth it. We came to this place on a whim, the ambiance caught our eye. Sitting by the water? Sign me up. The food, however, is what makes me want to keep coming back to this place. We got the queso, and it was probably some of the best queso there is. We then proceeded with the fajitas for two and like I said earlier, they were worth it. The picture doesn't do them justice - They are everything that you expect fajitas to be. The chicken was flavorful and juicy, and the beef melted in your mouth. The beans were so good and so was the Mexican rice. As for the actual establishment, it was clean and it had a nice upscale feel to it. Sitting by the water is also a plus - even in this heat, we did it and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The food was pretty good. I had the crab and shrimp stuffed poblano pepper and my husband had the fish tacos. I would absolutely order these again if we ever go back. However, I was very disappointed with the drinks. My husband had a spicy Bloody Mary, which was $13, so pretty standard, and I had the Cadillac margarita, which was $15.50 and absolutely nothing to write home about and for the size, extremely expensive! I took a picture of it next to a tortilla chip for size reference. The manager came by our table (he stops by all tables apparently) and asked how everything was, when I brought up the margarita he simply said "oh, sorry". It's a sad day when uncle julios cuts ALL corners on their "from scratch kitchen". As someone who has been eating at uncle Julio's for 15+ years ( from VA) i had the worst experience yesterday. This restaurant use to have the best tex mex food. They don't even ask you if you've ever been here and they don't say it's a from scratch kitchen anymore. No one Making fresh Tortillas in the middle of the restaurant. No table side guac offered. And it wasn't even that busy. The food was the worst part. We had the nachos which I guess you can't mess it up too bad they were okay. Then shared enchiladas and omg the saltiest food I've ever had from the beans the green sauce to the packaged chicken taste the hard rice pieces the salty charro beans and the dried up black beans so salty and low quality. And why was there fermented Cole slaw (cortido) on every plate?? I felt sick all night trying to keep my food down and the soreness from my throat and the pit of my stomach from eating such salty food. I've been here a countless amount of times. The food is always hot and made fresh. Bomb chips and salsa. The customer service is also great!!! Nice restaurant space, not super bright inside but they have outside seating. The consistency in the food and customer service keeps me coming back. Unfortunately, I have to say that a lot of the menu items that I was able to eat- such as the shrimp enchiladas and the shrimp salad are not there anymore- and for that reason I am docking off my stars. I don't know why restaurants are trying to fix something that's not broken, but there are not many vegetarian or seafood options over here. Whether you eat mostly seafood for religious reasons, or for other reasons such as pregnancy or just don't want to consume as much meat. I don't know why they made the restaurant worse but they have. The only thing that's good here now is the chocolate piñata, and they did not have that for so long with the excuse of it being covid, but at least they have that back. This is a lively Tex Mex restaurant located in Grand Parkway Marketplace. We stopped in for a farewell dinner before my mom returned to Maryland. We arrived just in time because about 10 minutes later the place was full of people. That being said, the service was surprisingly quick and our server was helpful and enjoyable. For dinner, we started with queso blanco and fresh made guacamole which were both really good. The portion sizes were plentiful and my skirt steak fajitas were tender and seasoned very well (my mouth is watering just thinking about it). Everyone commented on how delicious the food was. We had an outstanding service tonight. The staff was super friendly, and the service was fast. You must try the queso birria for an appetizer; it was a hit. For dinner, I got fish tacos, my husband got steak fajita, and my two boys got the fajita bowls. Overall, the food was good, but I did not like the cilantro rice that came with my fish tacos. I am a frequent customer, and have never been disappointed. The food is great, the service is wonderful, and Yasmin (Manager) is out of this world! Yasmin goes well above and beyond to ensure every visit is your new favorite trip, and works twice as hard as any of the staff there. We always have a manager stop by, making sure the atmosphere is more like a gathering than a meal, but Yasmin will make a point of stopping by at the beginning of the visit and once more to make sure the customer is happy before leaving. Very disappointed on how the manager on duty Jasmine handle our large party group. A reservation was made for the private room for a rehearsal dinner and unfortunately there were other guest in our seating area. Which I understand you can't kicked other guests out however the manager could have made arrangements to better accommodate our large group. Instead they sat us at two different tables and only provided one waiter for a group of 15 people. The service took too long due to only having one waiter. Kuddos to the waiter he did an amazing job having to take a large groups food and drinks order. Since we spoke to the manager upon arrival, we never saw her again to apologize for the inconvenience or to at least offer a complimentary desert for the mishap.
