They brought the bowl of queso but at that point we had just crumbs in our chip basket...no chips...I didn't want to wait for the queso to get cold so I went to find the manager and asked for chips for our HOT bowl of queso and also asked him about the drink confusion. The manager did bring more chips and did come to the table and said he would find out the mixup on the drink. Food arrived, bowl of soup(s), fajitas. Beans were stone cold! We were brought 3 tortillas, THREE. Asked for drink refills....never showed up. Food was subpar, new menu is not good. Service was just okay, not very good. We always leave 20%+ but not this time. The service was awful. It took a very long to be acknowledged and refills were nearly impossible to come by. Our waitress would disappear for long stretches of time. When another waitress brought our food, my order was wrong. Again our waitress was nowhere to be found. So the second waitress asked the manager to fix it. He even brought us refills and checked on us. It wasn't just our table. Another table went and tracked her down asking for service. I've waited tables before and I give a lot of grace and mercy, but this was just inexplicable. She only had 4 tables in her section. but only 2 were occupied. I have no idea where she was going when she would disappear. I don't normally post negative reviews, but I haven't had service that bad in a long time. I am so iffy about this place. The first time I came back in December, the food was amazing and I couldn't wait to come back, however the next time I came, the food was very gross. My girlfriend and I ordered enchiladas which were extremely rubbery and someone else at the table ordered medium for their $40 steak and it was bordering rare and also very rubbery. When I tried their dish, I had to spit it out because it was so hard to chew. The rice was also very, very dry. On the other hand, the place has great ambience, the table set-up looks great, the lighting gives nice ambiance, and it's very big. The service was great and when my girlfriend sent back their plate, the manager came and made sure we were satisfied in the end by comping the dish and even made sure we didn't want the enchilada remade to-go before we left. The food is standard Mexican fare. But at a price higher than expected. I had the tortilla soup, which was good. A little lacking in the avocado. I also had the carne asada, which was good as well. That said, I can make the exact same thing for way cheaper and just as good. The prices are ridiculous. $36 for a carne asada and three tortillas? Wow. Likely not returning. I have not been to uncle Julio's in a while. We were looking for something to eat on a Saturday evening. We ended up here at this uncle Julio's. I wasn't sure what to expect. The pictures on the menu looked good and the place had a lot of people in it. There is a lot of parking and the facility looks nice. I think it's off of 30 but we came the back way so not exactly sure but the parking lot was big and it looks like to be on its own. I ordered nachos. My son had tacos. My son's friend had enchiladas. The food presentation was OK. I told the server I wanted my beef cooked well done but when I got it, it was medium. So she sent it back and once I got it, it was cooked better. The only thing is they really didn't have much of a taste. The nachos are the lay flat kind that I like but there wasn't anything special about them. So I had a couple and then gave up. I thought the chips and the salsa tasted pretty good. It didn't appear that my son's friend liked his enchiladas. I remember him mentioning something about them being too wet. My son wasn't crazy about the tacos as well. So once we got home, we both were hungry and I had to warm something. The bill wasn't too much, but I do not think I would come here again based on the food that I tried. The restaurant was clean and again it was a nice size. Our server was fine, but I actually ordered some ice cream for my son and then she never came back. She said she thought that we were not getting the ice cream. Typically, I always hit up Uncle Julio's when I'm in Texas, but this was a bummer of a visit. We were seated in a section without a specific staff member to oversee our table, so, by the time we got our meals, our food wasn't really warm, we had 3 different people waiting on us, but no one checking in on drink refills or anything else. There was no lunch rush as it was around 3 pm, so the place wasn't super busy. It seems like there was just poor communication.
