Driving by and decided to give Rio Mambo's happy hour a try. It was not bad but not great. The margaritas, prices, and service for HH were good but the food was just ok. All of the food was really pretty bland. We tried the queso, flautas, and cheese quesadilla. The flautas were light on the chicken and no seasoning. The cheese quesadilla was just boring. Let's just say I had higher hopes for dinner. Our food was fine but nothing was excellent. Most people left food on their plate and that wasn't due to portion size. Service was sad. Our waitress didn't even bring us waters for 20 minutes and the place wasn't busy. The wait staff kept standing around talking to each other completely ignoring most of the tables. It just seems like there was no one managing them and they knew it. Someone at our table was always out of a drink and we had to go find someone to fill it. Overall the experience was not great. Glenda always gets sour cream chicken enchiladas, and she loved the chicken and spinach enchiladas. Chowed them down! My heart throb is the Rio Grande appetizer plate. Everything is delicious. Start with the brisket and onion quesadilla. Then the spinach and cheese quesadilla. Both beef and chicken nachos. Regular bean and cheese nacho. Add some flautas and some guacamole. We've been eating at Rio Mambos ever since it opened in 2001 & it has become our favorite go-to Mexican food restaurant. We especially like their fajitas & quesadillas. Their frozen Miami Vice is a favorite of mine, also. And their crispy chips & queso are as good as it gets. However, on a recent visit I noticed what disrepair their seating booths are in. On almost all of them the faux-leather cushions have become badly cracked with the underlying cushion material being exposed. And I noticed as we were leaving that the weather stripping on the front door had become detached & was flopping around as you entered or exited. I hate to see an otherwise great eating establishment become tarnished by repairs that should be so easy to make. It really takes away my appetite to be seated on such damaged furnishings. Rio Mambo, you can & SHOULD do much better. read more

My friend since Middle School wanted to meet here for brunch. I agreed so, I could catch up with her. We meet here at 10:30 am on a Saturday morning. There were a handful of people on each side of restaurant and they were fully staffed. My friend wanted to sit by the bar. I would not suggest that because, the cold draft comes from the front door. We had a very attentive Server named Chris, who was giving John Cusack vibes but, Mexican. Lol. He was very friendly and a bit sarcastic. Not complaining sarcasm is funny. Lol. Chris was very welcoming from the get go. He also made a lot of suggestions to order. He was very enthusiastic as well. Then when we ordered he was reinforcing our order choices. For example, I ordered the Chicken Tortilla Soup. He said, Ahh, a hot bowl of Soup on a cold day! Chris brought out my soup and even poured the broth on top of soup. It was a nice touch. He checked on us several times even though he was serving the other side of the bar. Also, a Hispanic lady asked to refill my drink. Her timing was perfect. My Tortilla Soup was warm with lots of Tortilla Strips and a hearty chunk of Chicken with a few pieces of shredded Chicken. It was salty and flavorful. Mmmm so good! We sat a the bar and ordered a Fort Worth margarita. They are strong and a lot to drink but it does the trick every time. I ordered fajitas that were great. Well seasoned protein just wish the veggies were cooked a little longer but no biggie.
