Overpriced white-washed Mexican food. For the amount that we paid I was expecting a meal worthy of the price tag. We did not find that. $17 for veggie fajitas....no meat in them.....and they were $17. For what?! Our tacos came out lukewarm and weren't anything special. Steak and chicken fajitas were average, but the portion size was rather small for a $23 price tag. They do offer vegetarian and vegan options. We did experience good customer service. Just disappointed with the food. It seems a lot of people like this restaurant, but we won't be returning. read more

Duuuuude!!!!!! I had THE best margarita of my life here on Christmas Eve (the tres amigos margarita). The moment it touched my lips I was in love. I thought for sure that if I ordered the second one it couldn't possibly match up but it did. Both were equally delicious! Never in my history of eating and drinking at a Mexican have I EVA has such a margarita. From the GODS. They came from the GODS. It was so smooth. Like...seriously. Ok. Now for the food. I had the Jalisco fajita platter which is a combo of steak, chicken and shrimp with the usual accoutrement i.e sour cream, guacamole and rice. Everything was so flavorful. I don't know where this place has been all of my life. The ambiance is pretty cool. Very old-timey Mexico. They have this chocolate piñata dessert that sells itself. First it looks pretty cool. Then you got to whack a big chocolate ball and out falls a lot of fat stuff. We didn't order it but dammit. It smelled AMAZING. A solid 4.5 stars. Easy. read more

Pretty good service and their taco bowl was pretty tasty. Never ate here before and it was well worth the stop!

I had such high hopes for this visit. The restaurant has everything in place for a successful business. Good location, good ambiance and great menu. The only bright point was the queso. My enchiladas were inedible. The corn tortilla was tough and hard to cut. The rice dry and the beans appeared to be undercooked. The salsa was too smoky but overall the evening was a disappointment. The service was subpar. read more

So I wish we could give half stars. The food was good. Solid dishes. Tasty. Good chips and salsa. Just not worth the wait or fighting for reservations. Good service. I got the honey chipotle fajitas and the raspberry margarita. The fajitas had bacon on them. It was too wiggly for me. (I have issues, I know) hubby ate it. Not enough veggies for my taste. Meat was juicy. It was a large serving with enough toppings to cover everything. Maybe a hair too sweet. Still it was good just not worth the price. Margarita was good as well. Hubby got the carnitas tacos. He ate almost all of it. The meat was shredded the wrong direction so it was extra chewy but good flavor. For two entrees, one margarita and two beers $70 just seems excessive. It was also very loud. The whole place. It didn't help that the table directly behind us was at 11 already. Even our server commented on it. Also the tile floor was slick. Not sure it it's because it was new or what but my boots slid a couple times. I doubt we'll be back. There are other places with as good if not better Mexican for cheaper and you don't need a reservation for a weekend night. read more

My experience at The Annapolis location was very dissatisfied. I originally told my server I had a coupon for a free guacamole, he assumed it was the small guacamole instead of checking my coupon he said we will handle at the end. The guacamole had large dice onion in it as if I was eating an onion salad coated with mashed avocados. I recommend cutting the onions in small dices or mince. The seasoned shrimp fajitas were very flavorful and the beans. The rice was very gummy and flavorless. I also tried the margarita of the month: watermelon margarita which was watered down and not sweet I do not recommend. Once the bill came out, my server got the manager to approve my coupon, but he stated that my coupon was only valid for a free table side guacamole and refused to accept my coupon. The server should have looked at my coupon before to confirm I was getting the correct menu item. I ultimately had to pay for the guacamole that I only ordered because I had a coupon. The manager should make sure the servers check coupons first, so it doesn't cause confusion at the end when customers are trying to pay. read more

Had a date night here with my S/O for the first time. The wait was relatively long and you have to go in to reserve a space in the queue ( no call ahead, here buddy). Once we were called and sat down everything moved quickly. Our server was amazing in his understanding of the menu and recommendations of what to get. The chips and dip was yummy and the food was sensory orgasmic !!! We enjoyed every bite and every sip of our mango lemonade. I highly recommend if you ever find yourself having the taste for some Tex Mex cuisine read more

Cocktail was delicious and bartender was lovely! I'm giving one star because of the hostess ( Stefanie ). I came to Annapolis for vacation. Unfortunately my battery was about to die. I ordered a drink and ask to bartender where to charge. She said hostess station will help me. I went to hostess station and ask for help( I have the cable btw). She was extremely rude to me. She even didn't look at my face. I can't believe you're hiring these impertinent teenagers. Thankfully I was staying at crowne plaza( where is very close to the restaurant ) so I wasn't hopeless. Even I talk with the manager but they weren't professional. It's funny to see these kind of people running that nice restaurant. read more

We've been to a number of Uncle Julio's, but this is the first time we've dined here. Ethan was our server and he was one of the most pleasant people I've ever come across. He was patient, attentive and very courteous. We ordered fajitas. My first time getting the lobster tail and I was not disappointed. My only issue is that the salsa was too watery. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and this might be the location of choice now. read more

My experiences at this Uncle Julio's has been 50/50. The last time we ordered curbside only to be told, it's not available, although they're designated parking outside for it. This visit, my salad was good but the chicken was a tad burnt and because of it tasted bitter. I would've returned it but didn't notice it until I got home, 30 minutes away. All in all I would go back, but I'd check the food before leaving read more

So, to give you an update, management did respond to my email and issued me a refund. I returned to this location, and the food was much better than the last time. I hope this continues to be the case. I enjoy this restaurant, so when the food is prepared properly, my day usually ends perfectly. read more

Great service by Sam and my food delicious. However... our Our food took FOREVER to come out. I would recommend this restaurant because the spices and taste was amazing but we starved and emptied the chips and salsa OUT before our meals came. I don't know what the hold up was. When everything arrived it was good though. I ordered the grilled fish tacos and they were tasty. read more

Covid Update: Really great time this past Saturday night! Was very happy that I made reservations in advance (OpenTable), because when I walked up there was quite the crowd and I heard it was about at 40 minute wait. They have the check-ins outside, the hostesses text you when your table is ready. We ate inside because it was starting to get chilly but the tables were very spread out. There is an option to scan a QR code for the menu but where our table was we had horrible service so they brought us paper menus. They were out of a few items on the menu and only one dessert but tis the times and I understand that. Our server was very kind and attentive. She recommended a few dishes and everyone loved their food. I had the steak and chicken fajitas which were really good! My drink was wonderful I had the tres amigos margarita. Very tasty! Will definitely go back. read more

This was my second time, it was busy but no wait we did make a reservation. We were seated but no menus or silverware. We couldn't get service to work in our phones for the WR code. We waited about 7 mins for the server to take our order of drinks the. She came out with water not tea. Then server came back quick to take our dinner order And the food came out quick but it took till the end of the meal to get salt for the chips LOL. The food is great the service was off this night. read more

Been to Julio's a few times. Happy with the quick service every time. The free chips and salsa are very fresh, but you should buy some queso to compliment. I keep ordering the steak fajitas and I'm always happy with that. My wife has ordered the salmon, fajitas and honey habenero shrimp. She's enjoyed them all, except the last time we went, the shrimp was too spicy. read more

Sooo the Rio location made me stay away from UJ, but a friend convinced me to give it a shot. We were greeted by the hostess and sat down promptly. However it took 10 minutes to get some wait staff to take our order and that's only after my friend went to say something. They apologized and after that service was perfect. We got tableside guacamole which was the best like mine. In house salsa like any other Mexican chain awful. Watery, running and probably comes out of a container. Spices are not balanced well. Salsa is never to be runny or messy. We had a nice waitress Tina. Excellent service from her. I ordered Cozumel shrimp tacos and my friend ordered fajitas which was delicious. In house margarita was good but severely marked up. I'll definitely return. Sorry folks, I forgot to take pics. I was too hungry and my phone was at 5% lol read more

My gf and I came here on around 2pm on a Sunday afternoon. She had looked up wait times on Open Table, the 1st available was 4:45pm. We took a chance and found 2 seats at the bar. The restaurant was packed! Plus at least 15-20 people waiting. I love restaurants where you can see your food being made. Sitting at the bar, you have a perfect view of the kitchen. Our bartender was pleasant, gave great recommendations. I had the seasonal margarita, mixed berry. So good! Not too sweet or too strong. Food was very good. Fresh chips and salsa, the salsa was spicy but not overwhelming. I had the taco salad. Huge salad with black beans, corn, cheese, tomatoes and avocado. They did not skimp on avocado. The ranch dressing made the salad. I could have taken a bucket home with me. Creamy and spicy at the same time. My gf had the matador carne platter, 2 cheese and onion enchiladas, a beef enchilada and 2 ground beef tacos. Along with rice and beans. She loved her food and ended up taking half of it home with her for dinner that night. It was so much food. Dessert was sopapillas, fluffy with the right amount of cinnamon and sugar. We've already decided when we return, we are ordering one of the chocolate pinatas for our meal. I can't wait!!! read more

Always great food and service! You can't go wrong with the table side quac, so yummy! They have fun margaritas too!

The food was very Good! We had the Guadalajara Fajita (Shrimp, Steak and Chicken); Seared Ahi Tuna Fajita. Both dishes were very flavorful and hearty. We arrived during the lunch hour on a weekday and was escorted directly to a table. No wait. Service: Attentive, Knowledgeable and Timely. As we watched the servers around us, it was obvious that the training highlights teamwork! Atmosphere: Perfect for a family night out or Couples dinner (booth only). Not so great? The Guacamole. I had to add salt and pepper to give it flavor. Maybe tableside service will result in better flavor. A definite place to revisit. read more

Group of friends and I went on Saturday night and Uncle Julio's exceeded our expectations. Thank goodness they take reservations because they were busy, as expected. Our waiter (can't remember his name but he's from Brazil) was wonderful! Very attentive and friendly. As was the chef who brought out our pinata. The lady who brought our drinks could have been a little nicer. I don't like napkins being tossed at me. I started off with The Swirl. It was a little sour but very tasty. Some of my friends ordered the Grand Swirl which came with a shot of Grand Marnier and they loved it. After, I order the Fresh Margarita of the Day which was raspberry and it might be my favorite restaurant drink ever. I was not expecting true raspberry taste. I was expecting "fresh." Wow! We enjoyed the free chips and salsa (has a kick to it) and the tableside guac with all the fixings. I probably could have just had a bowl of that for dinner. For dinner, I order the enchilada combo with one of each enchiladas (chicken, beef, and cheese.) I can't choose a favorite because each one was delicious and had a different flavor to it. Finally, we ordered the chocolate pinata. THIS was what I came for and wasn't disappointed. We got the regular one which included churros, pineapple, strawberries and blackberries. It had a strawberry splatter and caramel sauce for dipping (it tasted more like dulce de leche than caramel.) The chocolate sphere was tasty as well and I'm a chocolate snob. We will be back! :-) read more

I went to this location for lunch on a Monday at approx 11:30am. Pros: - Food is made from scratch - Food is delicious - Ample seating - Clean Cons: - Table-side guacamole was prepared the same time as the entree came out - Entree (specifically the taco meat) was cold and had to be sent back to the kitchen for correction - The bill was incorrect and my debit card was charged more than my bill amount (corrected by the manager but still pending my account) - No apology from management There was a couple seated a couple seats down from me at the bar. Their order was incorrect and the kitchen had to send out a new meal. The manager made it a point to stop by them and apologize for the mishap. I thought it was a bit tacky that the manager didn't see fit to do the same to me when my food had to be sent back due to it being cold. Maybe he didn't feel cold enough food wasn't a big enough reason to simply check on me as he did the couple a couple seats down. At the end of my lunch, I had given my debit card to another bartender (NOT the one who initially served me) and he ran it as if I had two orders of the same entree causing my bill to be higher than it actually should have been. When I noticed the mistake, I brought it to the initial bartender's attention. He went to get the manager to have it corrected. The manager didn't apologize but stated that to avoid their being two charges on my debit card, that he simply adjusted the amount and that it would take 2-3 days for it to be reflected on my account. The food was delicious. However, due to lack in service quality I'm giving this location 3 stars. I have been to the Reston,VA location a couple of times and the service was much more superior. I'm hoping this was just an off day for this location as I love their food and margaritas. read more

I've visited another location before but was pleasantly surprised to see them opening a location in Annapolis since I frequent the area a lot. I couldn't wait to check out the new spot. First of all, the place is beautiful inside with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating; however, parking may pose a problem since there are not enough spaces to accommodate the number of diners. We had to park in the Red Lobster parking lot which we saw a lot of other people doing. We were seated within 5 minutes. Our waiter, Earvin, was very personable and efficient. He even recommended some menu items since my friend hadn't been there before. I ordered the chicken and steak fajitas with the mango lemonade. My friend ordered the Juanita's platter, which was delicious. Omg! I loved the lemonade. The food was well seasoned but the steak was undercooked. I informed the waiter who rectified the situation. The manager was contacted without being prompted and he provided me with outstanding customer service. I was impressed! Thanks Chris! I definitely plan to visit again. The food is fresh and well seasoned and the customer service is on point. I hope they maintain this level of service. read more

Stopped in for dinner. Very crowded and loud place. Atmosphere is like a chain restaurant. Sat at the bar and it took a while to get a some attention. Bartender was too friendly with the couple next to me as they chatted up a storm as she could see me sitting there with no drink and no menu. They serve chips and salsa while you wait. Salsa is good but the chips were oily and so thin you can almost see thru them. I ordered the enchilada combo, two were chicken and one ground beef, all with their New Mexico sauce topping, the topping was good but the enchiladas were thin and light on filling. Also wasn't a fan of the ground beef because they mixed in onion which I don't care for. The combo comes with a side of rice and beans I left somewhat unsatisfied and wondering what all the fuss is about this place. read more

I made reservations on a Saturday evening at 8 for 2. We arrived on time and still had to wait. I did request outdoor seating and the site clearly states that all requests may NOT be accommodated, but no one advised us that this request couldn't be accommodated. Once inside the restaurant I observed that the restaurant is trying to adhere to proper social distancing guidelines. The bathroom was clean, but patrons were walking around in common areas without their masks. Of course I understand that the restaurant can only enforce what they see. We ordered drinks first: an el jefe margarita and a sangria, both were very good. For an appetizer we had a small guacamole and for dinner Honey Glazed Salmon and Shrimp Diablo......options were limited for us as pescaterians. The food was very good, the guacamole and Pico de Gallo was very fresh. The service we received once seated was superb. Not sure that I would return, but would recommend to others. read more

Great atmosphere, spacious with plenty of seating options, indoor or out, and great for happy hour. Food was very flavorful, and the ambience perfect for families, receiving friends or a drink at the bar. It is still fairly new, so expect a wait but they do take reservations on open table, so use the app or call ahead. The restaurant was very busy, as it was a holiday weekend, but we were seated promptly (w/ a reservation) and our request for a booth honored. Our server, Christina was wonderful! Her recommendations were spot on and we were well taken care of; she knew the menu, had a grasp of the cuisine and was very personable. The drinks were great and everyone around us seemed pleased. I also noticed they're well staffed, so things moved along at a good pace, as far as balanced sections (no one seemed overwhelmed.)
