    83 degrees inside
    Meg C.

It's constantly hot in this restaurant due to no AC. On the hottest day of the year today, it was 83 degrees. Isn't this an OSHA violation?

A friend told me about this place, so we wanted to check it out. We made an online reservation for lunch on a Sunday. At noon on Sunday, they offer both the regular menu and also a brunch menu. So my husband opted for the breakfast burrito off the lunch menu, and I had a chicken fajita salad. Our server was Sonja, who was very pleasant. They brought out chips and salsa (two kinds of salsa) right away. We had planned to eat inside, but it was a gorgeous day, so we chose outdoor seating (the music was also pretty loud inside). We did not order drinks or dessert--so that will be for the next visit. Overall--the food was delicious, and service was prompt & pleasant. In addition to the table seating outside, they had the outdoor bar open, which was a really nice setup with stools on the outdoor side. The South Parking garage (you can enter across from Target) is right behind the restaurant. (We did receive an email afterwards from Open Table, claiming that we were a no-show. So I had to respond with our meal & transaction details. I had informed the man at the host station about our reservation when I checked in. So this part of the communication loop needs work).

This was out 1st visiting this location and the food was AWESOME. The flavors exceeded our expectations!! We got the guac- very flavorful. The complimentary chips came with a smoked salsa that tasted really delicious. The steak & carnitas fajitas were packed with flavor. It was Thursday- all day happy hour specials . The bar area was slow but Darrion was attentive and has a great personality. Jose the manager was also very informative and a good reflection on this new spot. Thank you- keep up the great work. Great service and food!!

Shrimp and steak fajitas with big ass onion slices. It was quite funny in person.

We wanted to try something new so we came here for lunch to celebrate my husband's birthday. We sat at the bar and were served water and greeted by the bartender. I asked for a glass of wine and we ordered Julia's Mexican pizza and it was delicious! It was very fresh and served quickly. My husband ordered the steak and shrimp fajitas and disappointed that it was not served with vegetables, it was served on top of a full large onion plus the portions were small, but the huge bed of onions were massive and the shrimp were frozen. I ordered the cheese enchiladas with tomatillo sauce, and it was good . It did have too much cheese on top so it became a bit hard to chew. For dessert, we had sopapilla's which were really good but took 20 minutes to get served and agin, only 4 tables in restaurant were full and we were 2 of 4 at bar! My only critiques, 1. When a drink glass is empty, ask the customer if they would like another drink. I drank 1 glass during our visit, but totally would have had 3 or I may have purchased a bottle but my glass was invisible. My husband was going to order an after dinner cocktail but the bartender was mia probably serving the restaurant. We don't know, he would just go mia. 2. Explain the salsas. We were served 2 different kinds and do not know what they were. 3. Spice it up. Nothing had a bite to it, not even the salsa (at all). 4. Think ahead of your customers needs. Don't make them ask for everything, especially when there are only 4 tables of customers on a Saturday afternoon. We had to ask for a glass of wine, silverware, chips and salsa, dessert menu, and the list goes on. 5. The paper towel holder laying in the sink and one of the stall doors off the hinges in the women's restroom did not look attractive. That's just lazy owners. It's disappointing being from Texas, we were hoping for a new go to that reminded us of home. It's not this place. Our check was over $100 and walked out feeling ripped off. Very surprising in this high rent space. SMH.

The food was good--I had the birria tacos. Unfortunately, the service was very poor. The waitress seemed completely uninterested in her work and was eating her own food instead of taking our order. She was unfriendly and appeared more focused on checking the tip we left rather than providing attentive service. I would return for the birria tacos, but if I see her again, I will definitely ask for someone else. I don't remember her name, as she was hardly at our table.

I eat a lot of Mexican food and this is easily the best I've tasted for Miles around. Birria enchiladas were off the hook. And the salsa there is fantastic! Just a couple more notes about pricing though, because I think it's worthwhile to mention: there is no lunch menu. Most Mexican joints have a lunch menu, with smaller sizes and lower prices. not here. The portions are very generous so be prepared to get a dinner menu and to-go box. And I ordered a draft Mexican beer and got a 24 ounce glass for nine dollars. I think this is another attempt to raise your check. Most places will give you the option of a 16 or 24 ounce. Yes these are nitpicks, but I'm not complaining because the food is so freaking good.

She always says she feels like she's eating healthy food because everything is so fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this place.

Our server, Fernando, set us up with separate checks. Several of us enjoyed margaritas. Everyone thought the food was amazing. I had the Ensalada Sin Fronteras with chicken. We started with chips and salsa, and they were excellent. The salsa wasn't overly spicy, just full of great flavor, and the chips were fresh and crisp--definitely a strong start to the meal. My wife ordered the chicken chimichanga. It was quite different from what we usually get at the Mexican spots we frequent--it was one large chimichanga served with a small salad, whereas we're used to getting two smaller ones with rice and beans, which we usually share. Still, it was tasty and satisfying in its own unique way. I ordered the Chicharrón en Salsa Verde--crispy pork and onions in a green tomato sauce, topped with cilantro and served with rice and warm flour tortillas. It had great flavor and the pork had a nice texture--crisp but not dry. Our friends ordered a variety of dishes, including: Chile en Nogada - a stuffed poblano pepper with seasoned ground beef, covered in a chilled almond and walnut nogada sauce, topped with pomegranate seeds and served with rice. It was rich, colorful, and very flavorful. A beautiful dish with red and yellow sauces and a white cream swirl--unfortunately I can't recall the name, but it was as good as it looked. Six tacos with assorted meats--each one was fantastic. The flavors were bold and fresh. To drink, most of us had margaritas, and you could tell they use fresh ingredients--these were excellent and not overly sweet like some places serve them. Service was top-notch from start to finish--friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The only disappointing part of the evening came at the end, when we learned that the restaurant will be closing in about a month. The building is being torn down, possibly for high-rise condos. The staff doesn't know if or where they'll reopen. It's a real shame, especially in an area that's already struggling with traffic and congestion. More homes, fewer gems like this. I just wish we had discovered Sin Fronteras Café sooner. Hopefully they find a new home nearby, and we'll definitely try to come back before they close for good.
