Birria tacos
Jenn K.

I absolutely had to come to yelp to gush about the new birria tacos on the menu. It comes with a LOT of food: 3 tacos plus rice and beans. I wished I could eat more in one sitting because it was so good. Service was attentive and friendly as always, and they had a Disney movie on one of the TVs for the kids.

Fried ice cream.

Mi Pueblo's location and hours are convenient making them popular among the customers. The atmosphere is indeed lively and the handful of times I've visited, the wait was minimal. I'm glad others have had great experiences here! While the service and drinks were stellar for me, I'm not a fan of the food and quality is average. The chips were stale and salty, the salsa didn't taste fresh. Between the fajitas and tacos, I've found quality of the proteins were lacking. Nothing more off-putting than to be served gristle. And as simple as onions and cilantro only, the seasoning in the carne asada tacos were savorless. The carne and tortillas were dry. The fried ice cream while tempting at first sight, the ice cream was freezer burned and tasted old and the shell was stale. Sigh. Maybe another day, Mi Pueblo.

I only wish this place was closer to home. We were coming from a car meet and this place had nice ratings nearby. We gave it a try and just loved everything. The server was welcoming and attentive. Gave great options and was honest when we would ask about opinions. He led us to what we ordered. The portions were fair enough. We can eat and had plenty of leftovers. Those charros beans were amazing!! Reminds me of how my aunt makes them. We ended up taking another order to go. Im really picky with my enchiladas. Not many places make them right. My go to is Suizas style and he suggested the verdes which were very similar. The rice was just how I expected and like it. My boyfriend's nachos were plentiful. Everything about it was delicious down to the caramelized onions. The decor was so cute and such a vibe to what Mexico is really like. Truly an art down to the details in the bathroom. The music was bumping but not too loud. Can't wait to go back.

I think I found a legit Mexican place on Ritchie Highway? When I walked in, it reminded me so much of the TexMex places I used to go to in Dallas and it made my heart super happy. I didn't even plan to be here. I just happen to have something wrong with my car so I stopped at the Firestone in the same strip mall and they decided to go here while I was waiting for my car. They have a really expensive menu and they bring you chips and salsa which I always love and the owners are actually from Mexico. This restaurant has been open since 2010 and they were very impressed with my tamarindo order. The staff is really friendly and the decorations in the restaurant is very vibey. They have bar seating and tons of cutie booths. I got the chicken and mole honestly, the mole felt a little flat, but it was really good with some hot sauce. If you're ever in Pasadena, I would for sure. Stop here for some legit Tex-Mex.

It's ok. I'm mexican and that definitely is not Mexican food. The cheese in the enchilada and the chile relleno was a cheese I've never had before. The service was nice. The only good thing was the Modelo and their awesome guacamole made fresh in front of you. Ambiance is cool.

Everything on the menu is 5 STARS. Veggie salad bowl with grill chicken was a smash hit.

I came for a quick bite to eat and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The staff was attentive and always quick to refill my water, which I really appreciate. I got a chicken quesadilla and a caesar salad with grilled chicken. Originally, I only asked for the quesadilla, but my waitress advised me that the quesadillas are quite small and suggested I get something else too. I am so happy she said that, she was 100% correct. The salad was the perfect amount extra to round out the meal, and just 1 quesadilla would not be enough. Overall, both dishes I tried were solid. I would definitely return and try something new in the future.

Second visit- my first experience I felt middle of the road meh- I liked them but wasn't wowed-but vowed to give them another chance & so glad I did! Everything was fresh, with delicious flavors- hearty hearty plates, packed & smothered with ingredients! We ordered two combination platters featuring ample variety of classic dishes-to-go. Everything was well packaged: combination entrees together with side packaging seperating rice&beans. The portion sizes were quite large- easily two meals! I opted for the Chili Relleno, House Chili Relleno, & shredded beef Tamale-hubby got the chicken Enchilada, pork Tamale, & beef Burrito- everything was very distinguishable tastes of authentic flavor- I loved the green & red sauces, bold delectable profiles. The rice was moist fluffy. The refried beans were creamy with just the right amount of melted cheese. Reasonable prices- Overall, a solid choice for Mexican options- their menu offers immense variety- with great build-your-platter, pre-made combination platter, or unique entree dish possibilities. Can't wait to eat my way through the menu-though I imagine I will quickly develop a go-to craving for the choices I made this visit haha

Super busy on a Friday night. Surprise Surprise

We tried cactus for the first time!! It wasn't our favorite, but we can say we tried it. It's surprisingly sour. I'm not really sure how that flavor was supposed to play along with the rest of our meal, but we did have a strange combination of food. Yesterday was Jeremy's birthday. We were supposed to go, as a large group, to Philly, but then one of the group got the dreaded Covid, so it ended up being just the four of us. Jeremy gets super excited when he gets to hang out with his friends, so much so that he just couldn't pick the restaurant he wanted to eat at to celebrate his 43rd birthday. Our friends live across the river, so we went over there. And since we're currently poorAF, I used Yelp to research a couple of places until I found a restaurant that we could afford. Then, because our friends are awesome, they paid anyway. Yay! It was a Friday night, so the restaurant was packed. And because I'm not comfortable using a booth because I'm forced to sit at the end, because of my wheelchair, and I block everyone in, we had to wait longer than the other patrons for a table. Jeremy ordered the beef nachos, no lettuce. I thought it was going to come out as an appetizer, but it came out with our meal. I guess they want you to focus on the chips and salsa before your meal? He was warned that they were plain, and they didn't look like much, so I didn't have any until later that night when I got the munchies. Yes, the chips were soggy by then, but the meat and cheese are so flavorful. It blew my mind how something so unremarkable-looking could be so delicious. We shared the El Molcajete (*Portion for two approx. Grilled rib-eye, chicken, shrimp, mexican sausage, cactus and jalapeño poppers on top of melted cheese and chipotle sauce, all this coming in a sizzling molcajete. Served with a side of rice, beans, lettuce, guacamole and sour cream...$29.99). We had no idea what a Molcajete was - it's sort of like a giant mortar. It's heavy as hell. I think it's made of stone. And they weren't kidding when they said it would be sizzling. I focused on the beans and rice, with guac and sour cream. No matter which Mexican place I go to, I cannot resist those creamy refried beans. I also ate the jalapeno poppers but they weren't very good. I don't like poppers with cheddar cheese inside. I prefer cream cheese. Personally, I don't feel like the meal was worth the price, and I kind of wish that Jeremy and I had both gotten $15 meals, but live and learn. Jeremy was absolutely delighted to wear the sombrero and have the staff sing to him. He says that was the first time that has ever happened to him, so TWO firsts during the same meal. That's pretty fun. And the fried ice cream sundae was a nice treat. I'm glad we tried the place, but I see no reason to go back.

Was starving for Mexican food and this place came up on search. Stopped by and was not disappointed: the food was great, must order the made to order guacamole made at your table side, and the fajita was awesome. Definitely recommend and will be going back soon again. Service was quick, nice, and delivered with a great smile.

Complimentary salsa and chips

I was in the area for work and wanted to get something yummy to eat and this place hit right on the nose! We were greeted right away to be seated at a table. The place wasn't empty and we arrived around 12pm on a Thursday. The give complimentary salsa and chips with the cutest little carafe with extra salsa. The menu had so many options and plenty of lunch specials. We decided on the taquitos aztecas. They were so delicious and crispy! The rice and beans were pretty good too! Definitely recommend! Nicely decorated, quick and friendly staff, and great prices and portions!

Phenomenal food! Some of the best Mexican food I've ever had in my life (and I am vegetarian!). You know this place is the real deal as there were multiple Mexican/Hispanic families breaking bread here. The portions are excellent and the flavors are on point! I ordered the vegetarian local burrito -the melted cheese on top is to die for! My husband ordered the pork Colorado and loved the flavors! We both had enough leftover to take home! If you like spice, request the hot tomatillo salsa. They will charge you $1.99 but it's so delicious and will surely make your nose run!

I so love yelp! I saw the pictures of what the restaurant looked like inside and not for those pictures, I would not have went just from looking at it outside. English is their second language and I am okay with that when it comes to food because that means the authenticity meter goes up. My friend had a ride before me and was sitting down with chips and salsa when I arrived. The restaurant was clean but also had a homily feel which I appreciated. After a few minutes the waitress had not returned so I jumped up to grab a menu and decide what I wanted. The menu was in Spanish but had pictures. That with my bad Spanish allowed me to order but I wanted. After some questions I decided upon two carne asada tacos, traditional. Easy, right? Yes! Those were the best tacos I have had in a long time at a restaurant. To meet with tender and there was not a lot of fat or hard in digestible pieces. The salsa verde was spectacular! I wanted to steal it but I kept my composure and remains classy and left it on the table. I actually really enjoyed my food. Must order the napoles and to it with both green sauces.

Once inside the venue, the sweet smell of flavors from across the southern border had all my senses awakened, what came after was just pure bliss in every bite I took of the lamb taco, the lengua taco, the roasted pork taco and the el pastor taco. I was immensely delighted at the idea that they had a great selection of soups to include the seafood soup ( very close to a cioppino). Why 4 out of 5 then?? Well they don't serve alcohol...yet? A good cerveza, a minty mojito and a grandma margarita would definitely make this place a slice of Mexico in our backyard.

On multiple occasions, we had to ask for basic things like utensils because they were forgotten, and servers didn't check on the table as often as they should have. The food also took longer than expected to come out, which felt unnecessary given the type of restaurant. My main issue, though, is the pricing. The food is very expensive for what you get, and the prices don't feel reasonable or justified. On the plus side, the drinks are actually really good. Overall, it's not a bad place, but between the slow service and high prices, it's hard to say it's worth it.

I initially placed my order on GrubHub, but found out once I arrived at the establishment that they do not partner or work with GrubHub, which is unfortunate because you're still able to order from them on GrubHub. It was easy to cancel my order so I could get a refund and I just ordered with the gentleman at the bar. The service was quick and friendly hence two stars. I ordered the flautas which are rolled chicken tacos that are fried and topped with lettuce, cheese, crema, pickled jalapeños, and pickled red onions as well as an order of guacamole that comes with chips. The flautas were just ok as most of their flavor came from the pickled vegetables as the chicken tasted unseasoned. The guacamole was old with a lot of brown on top with very soft onions and tomatoes, which tells me that it wasn't made today, even though their menu states that it's made fresh daily. I scraped the brown part off to try and salvage the parts that were fresh as I really wanted to try it and I was starving. The guacamole was very underseasoned as the only thing I could taste in it was the avocado. The chips were stale. My meal came to a total of $28.62 with tax. $14 for the guacamole and $13 for the flautas. Needless to say I won't be back.

While customer service was a bit gruff considering it wasn't busy, the food was delicious! Of course no white glove here, but when I asked for a receipt, it wasn't itemized and was charged 'one comida'. I've not been to their restaurant but had I known, perhaps price points are at least shared. The truck itself is clean, has a picture board and options posted, and marked clear of other locations. We chose two orders of quesabirria (half/4pcs), an order of chicken flautas (5pcs), and a gordita al pastor. Quesabirria is meaty hefty and cheesy loaded, consome on the side! The flautas was crispy and packed with shredded chicken, and the rice and beans were seasoned well. The lettuce were not limpy at all lol! I took a bite out of the al pastor and the ratio of protein and pineapple was money. Esooo, fuego! Not a cloud on this stone, Taqueria Los Jarochos food truck is a diamond on Ritchie Highway. Easy to bypass, they're staged in front of a red and black building, next to BoA, opposite side of HP Racing. Pull up and get some food truck grub and grab a spot at the picnic tables!
