Ultimate nostalgic visit for me, because this was my late Father's local, where he held court for decades, a la Norm at Cheers. Not surprisingly, it does not look like it did in the 1960s/70s/80s, but the basic design remains. They were bought by a different family in the 90s, who are doing fine, but the menu is not quite the same. This is the place where I first had true Bacon & Onion pizza, and that means a lot to me. What means more, though, that it was the first time in 23 years that I got together with my older siblings, and that folks was priceless. We ordered Johnny Walker Black on the rocks in my Dad's honor. For lunch I didn't opt for the B&O, instead finally having a Veal Parm grinder for this visit. Wifey could not get over how perfect their Margarita wheel was, and my Brother was kind enough to share a bite of their amazing Moussaka. Made an order nearby near the area. I kindly asked about the sizes. Was curious about how much of the small vs medium salad? Thinking the medium was like 1-2 people size portion, she said it's worth for 3. Decided on small. When I picked it up, it looks like child size. Smaller then my handful. Use to come to this place a lot growing up. I can tell the food has changed a bit but it is still good. It's a nice family friendly restaurant with Greek/Italian food. I ordered the penne a la vodka which was about $17. It can be a bit pricey depending on what your ordering but they do give you a nice size portion of food. I can tell they had a lot of new staff and everyone was doing training which I understand, but when we were finished I had to ask multiple times for to-go boxes and our check. I go inside first I check on the door the sign says Mon-Sun until 10pm Inside all of the employees are sitting down in a booth then one guy with glasses I guess he was the shift manager barely looks up in an annoyed tone to say to me the kitchen closes in 2 mins time is barely 930 . Even if the establishment was soon to close it wasn't a welcoming experience I will never come here to dine and will never recommend anyone to come as well first impression is always the last impression and perception is everything!!!! SO FRIENDLY!!!! We sat at the bar and had the best conversation with the owners. My boyfriend stopped there during a snowstorm in 2018 and said he had a great experience so we went back because we were traveling through. I'm so glad we did. My husband and I have been living in Norwalk for three years now and didn't discover Uncle Joe's until last year when it was recommended to me by a coworker. It's now one of our favorite spots in Fairfield County. We absolutely love the pizza! Get the thin crust...it's delish! I've also become a huge fan of their avgolemono soup, which is a Greek chicken soup made with lemon and egg. We'd recommend Uncle Joe's to anyone living in Norwalk or just passing through the area! We have been going to Uncle Joe's for 30 years, especially for their eggplant pizza and souvlaki chicken over greek salad. We haven't ordered takeout since the quarantine started, but were dying for the pizza last night. We drove to a nearby commuter lot to enjoy our pizza and drinks from home....The pizza was overcooked and dried out with a blackish burnt tinge. Very disappointing! Also, the men working inside the restaurant were not wearing masks and were very rude to my husband. We live 2 towns away, but chose to venture out last night to an old favorite of ours. My husband and I went for dinner last night and we were very pleased. The chicken parmigiana was very good. We had split pea and the lemono soups and both were excellent. The bread was delicious. The best dish was the fried calamari. It was fresh and cooked perfectly. It's the best I've had in a long time. Many resturants cook it till its rubbery and I'd be willing to bet frozen. Uncle Joe's has been my favorite restaurant since I was a little kid! I have lived in the area my whole life and have been going to Uncle Joe's for over 20 years. The food (Greek & Italian) is excellent, portions (especially the salads) are big. A small salad is enough for a meal for me. I would recommend the Martha's Health Salad, which is served in a bread bowl. Onion rings are great. The thin crust pizza is excellent, although I'm not a big fan of the french fries. Prices are reasonable and it is a fun and relaxed atmosphere. There is a separate bar with about 2 or 3 tables in a separate room from the main dining area. In the summer/early fall, they usually set up out door seating as well. I order take out from here frequently, usually takes about 20 minutes from the time I call it in. Fred is awesome and always gets our takeout together for us. He is usually at the bar area. For many years, Uncle Joe's did not accept credit cards. Several years ago, this policy changed and they now accept them (although I do not think American Express is one of the accepted ones). I could not recommend Uncle Joe's more! read more

Mmmmm...nothing says "we do great food" like a bucket of cigarette butts at the front entrance. Sweet! I should have known better but alas, we wanted to overlook this and try the 1/2 chicken. Our walk on this night, our second no less, was from the right side of the building where this place is obviously washing down the matts. Which is disgusting and leaves tons of grease and left over food all over the parking area. Not to mention is a nasty way of doing it and pollutes the town. Our first visit here we had your typical Italian dishes. I had Chicken parm with a salad and some overcooked pasta. The wife had Chicken Francese. Both were pretty darn good. However, on our second trip we were dying to try the 1/2 chicken. Why you ask, because we saw it on a barely lit board near our table. I wish I would have just stayed the heck home. Garbage. I would not have fed 5/8's of this chicken to my dog. And as I write this I am still burping the horrendous odor of the few bites I did have up. When asked how everything was by the cute overworked waitress I didn't even speak. I thought my plate being three quarters of the way full would have spoke volumes. I pushed this dish aside immediately and just enjoyed my ginger-ale. The best thing about this place is their bread. Holy batman it is good. But I can bake bread at home. I really would like to give this 3 stars. But the service is SO bad, its painful. Tonight my wife and I wanted just a quick night out, so we went to the bar side of the restaurant which has two tables. Figured that means quick. Wrong. After sitting there for several minutes while two bartenders just yakked and yakked with their alcoholic friends, FINALLY someone came over. Two waters and a Chianti please. Ok, glad we like talking to each other. A few minutes later I see the waiter appear on the other side of the bar and struggle to fill the waters and wine. Then he came back around (you have to walk through the dining room to get back on the other side of the bar) and finally picked up our glasses a brought them over. I'm guessing a total of 10 minutes to get something to drink in the bar (on an 85 degree day). It is always infuriating to SEE your drinks or food on the bar and no one is bringing it over. I should have just got up and taken it. The poor guy at the table next to us waited even longer! He ordered first, but we got our drinks first, go figure! The salads and pizza were great. They make a lovely thin crust pizza. But the service is really off the mark. I will still go back, but never to the bar side where the alchies seem to rule. read more

I really like the food there, but I have been in there twice since they reopened to get take out and both time there were employees not wearing masks. The first time there was a woman behind the bar who was wearing a mask and an older man not wearing a mask. Last night (6/19) I went in to pick up pizza and there were two men behind the bar. One had a mask, but it was down around his neck and the other man had no mask. I thought food service people were required to wear masks right now.
