We used to love Rowayton Pizza under its old ownership but haven't been there in a while. We were disappointed by the food and shocked by the prices. We got takeout. A medium pepperoni pizza (with 1/2 onions) plus a caesar salad was $40. The pizza barely had two pieces of pepperoni per slice. The onions were so sparse we had a hard time telling which half had them. The biggest disappointment was the salad. For $15 we got a smallish plastic container that was 1/2 full--probably no more than one head of romaine, if that. The place was busy but a shadow of its old self in quality and price gouging a captive Rowayton audience. read more

We had ordered previously and have absolutely loved the pizza however when we Called in our order today, the young lady on the phone asked what size we would like for our GF pizza and then proceeded to tell me there was only a small size which was very small. When I walked in to pickup with my service dog, I asked for a gift card to add to my order, she could not find any then said nothing to me as I waited. When the owner walked in, he told me dogs were not allowed and I proceeded to tell him it was a service dog and he still said we are too small of a restaurant and that I needed to wait outside after spending over $100 and waiting for my order. Ordered 3 pies for delivery on a Friday night. Didn't place the order until around 745 but it was delivered within 30-40ish min which was great for prime pizza ordering time. Tried a large plain pie, deep green (ricotta, spinach, broccoli, garlic) and the Regina (vodka sauce, prosciutto, arugula, mozz). We loved all of these but thought the Regina was a little too salty. If you're a fan of quality New Haven style pizza (apizza?) RP is for you. I got the Wooster Street pizza and ordered with pepperoni and mushrooms. Well done. Great sauce and crust and naturally that's the foundation of a quality pie. The roasted mushrooms were fresh and pepperoni was generous but not overkill. Strips of fresh basil made the difference. Even in the box it smelled so amazing it made the 5 min drive home seem like an hour! Rowayton Pizza will be my standard Friday night fare. read more

Our ongoing survey of local pizza restaurants places Rowayton Pizza near the top of the pack. The pizza is very good in a fairly typical way, with some of the RP menu pizzas offering excellent original combinations -- the "White Bridge" with broccoli, bacon, sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts and ricotta is a great example. What puts RP near the top though are factors beyond the pizza: Great outdoor seating when the weather's right, excellent chicken tenders that will feed a couple kids off one plate; tasty fresh bruschetta; a widely varied sandwhich/panini selection. I remember wolfing this pizza growing up as a kid. Especially having this pizza during summer camps. It doesn't miss a beat. It may be top ten pizza spot in Norwalk. Not sure if I'm ready to put it in my top 5. However, they would be #1 in the south or west if not in Norwalk. We ate in and also ordered out, the quality of the food is consistent either way! Their pasta dishes are tasty and well prepared, my favorite The Spaghetti with Broccoli Rabe n Sausage. While we didn't have pizza, the mozzarella sticks and crispy artichokes my girlfriend and I had were killer! While we waited for our order, I commented to the kitchen crew that the large tray of sausage looked delicious. Went here for dinner to try to their gluten free pizza and I left happy and full. They have a ton of different toppings for their pizzas and the crust itself, while used by several other establishments (Still Riding Gluten Free Crust), is quite good here. Don't know what it is, maybe they just know how to cook a pizza! The seating is limited inside, but it's casual and kid-friendly, so you can't beat that. They do have a few outdoor tables with umbrellas, which will be nice in warmer weather. Overall I really like Rowayton Pizza and will definitely be back! read more

Very sad day for pizza delivery from this place. It took 1hr 38 min to get the delivery and it was cold and soggy! We called Joe the manager who was on the defense from the start he had a terrible attitude and offered no solutions. He said we were too far to deliver to, when we are a short 1.5 miles down the street. Really Joe?! When I said "I guess you're not willing to help me?" He finally said he would refund. I don't normally write reviews but recently I realized how much I rely on these reviews when I go out and how beneficial it is to a business. Being from New York, living in CT, I am always in search of GREAT pizza. My fiancée brought me to Rowayton pizza for the first time a few months ago and I absolutely love the place. The staff was friendly and professional and the owner was very accommodating and very engaged with the customers to ensure quality service. I was not only extremely impressed with the level of service, but the food was absolutely delicious. Rowayton pizza is now my go to spot for pizza and chicken parm (which is just scrumptious). For crying out loud, how have I not reviewed Rowayton Pizza?!? I grew up on RP - it is still the only phone number aside from my husband and mother that I know by heart. Living about a 5 minute drive away, I have vivid memories of sitting with a warm pizza box on my lap intoxicated by the smell. The crust is thin but substantial, the sauce is flavorful but doesn't overshadow, and the cheese is melty and perfect. If you're lucky you get a good crust bubble too, which are my personal favorite. While it is not the most perfect pizza in the entire world, I have never not had a good pizza, and 30+ years of consistency is something to be admired. Love, even. read more

As a new transplant to the area, I just wanted to announce: I have found my perfect summer pizza spot. Let's be upfront right now: you don't go here for the service. While the waitstaff is perfectly lovely, they always seem so harried, rushed, and exasperated (as if they're understaffed... hey! I'm available if it means I get free pizza!). However, there's something about the vibe of the place that just makes that all right. And anywhere that I can sit outside and eat my food is immediately put on my Good List. It's BYOB and there's a liquor store right down the road. There's almost always live music outside, usually some debonair guitarist crooning the perfect summer tunes. The pizza fills your belly in a warm, satisfying way that only pizza can. It makes you want to roll over in the sun and get your belly scratched. Yes, it's good. Not the best I've ever had, but not far behind that. I really loved the Margherita pizza because I can be a purist at times. However, they had so many interesting and appealing toppings, that we're just not quitting until we've tried them all. Speaking as someone not from around here, most people wouldn't know of this preppy, sleepy town on the water if they were shooting down 95 to the urban jungle of New York. Stopped in for a last minute Mother's Day dinner, I know not the place you would think for this. Mom wanted to check out the Rowayton area as we have heard so much about it over the years. The location was cute. Nice beach feel with small homes through big obnoxious rebuilds. A couple of restaurants all near the water. RP was small on the inside with only a couple of tables that I saw. Outside they had lots more room. It was a nice late afternoon and we sat outside. The staff was young and seemed a little inexperienced (just starting up after getting home from college) but they were friendly and efficient nonetheless. I had the goat cheese salad, it was fresh and large enough for my meal. The fried calamari was well done and really fresh. The pizza was also very good. We split a medium with sausage and mushroom. The crust was crunchy and thin although there was a nice thicker edge to it. The sauce was light and not over spiced. The mozzarella was thick and held everything together. This was a very pleasant experience and we look forward to more visits. The location definitely makes the place even though the food was very good. Let me start by saying I love this place. My family and I have been coming here for years and the food is always consistently delicious. They have recently changed the menu getting rid of my favorite dish of Lobster raviolis but I get it! Change is good. Last night I had the Shrimp linguini alfredo and it was bomb.com Now the real reason I am writing a review today and only giving 3 stars is because I have to say I am so fed up with the summer vacation, immature, arrogant teenagers that work here. They are incompetent and often very rude. Yesterday there weren't any napkins on the table and when I asked for some he literally threw a pile of napkins onto the table and walked away. I understand how busy they get, this place is very popular, but sometimes these kids act like you're an inconvenience to them. One time I had called in for delivery, was placed on hold for 10 minutes and then the girl was so nasty to me for no reason! Another time I called in and after listing my order the girl literally said "ok" and then paused a beat and goes "wait what did you want again?" I kid you not. I understand delivery orders can often get messed up but you should never expect them to. Also once we arrived on a very busy night and there was a 45 min wait to be seated. We were willing to wait, but the hostess seated someone she knew before my family and they had arrived after us! Joe the owner is awesome and super nice. And honestly I know my family and I will continue to come here, but I just wish they would have a good sit down chat with their employees and at least asked them to pretend to care. read more
