I ordered for the first time a large pizza. My assessment after I tried it is that it was salty and the crust was chewy and tough.

I walked into the Norwalk location and ordered two slices of pizza one plain and one pepperoni to go. The individual heated up the two slices and place them in a box. I asked for hot peppers because I was gonna put them on the slice that was mine I opened the box and I noticed that the person placed the slices on top of one another??? since when do you place a hot slice of pizza on top of a hot slice of pizza. The cheese is going to come off of the bottom slice of pizza and it's ruined (it's pizza bread). I then asked the person for foil or something so I could separate and salvage what was left of the slice? A persons with excellent customer service would have apologized and given me another slice or better yet never done it. The person already had such an attitude about giving me something to separate the slices since the box wasn't large enough, I didn't know that the box wasn't large enough to fit the two slices until I opened it to put crushed red peppers on one of the slices. Nevertheless, he ended up giving me another box and told me I should've told him that they both weren't for me. I was flabbergasted. Why should I have told him that he shouldn't have put two slices of pizza on top of one another. That should've been common sense. I've been ordering slices of pizza for many many years and this is the first time that someone has ever done something so stupid and blame the customer. And didn't apologize for the fact that you handed me an item that wasn't going to be in the form in which I ordered it. Because I recognized it before I left the establishment. Yes the food is typically good, but when the service is horrible, then the food becomes becomes less Desirable and you spread the word and I will spread the word about the horrible service .!!!!! read more

What a great place. They really do a great job. True story! My brother and I got bacon egg n cheese at another location nearby simply because it was early and, was open. We ended up eating just a few bites and, threw them out. We could tell the hard rolls were microwaved (chewy). Also the rest of sandwich was crap as well. Now it was 8am so we went to Massimo and got the same. WOW! What a difference. So fresh and good. Today I got their Burrata sandwich a specialty item. A healthy option I figured I'd try instead of cold cuts. Not expecting much since it's meat free. I was extremely pleased with it. Sooooo Goood!! Friendly staff as well. Was in the neighborhood with my husband and Mom and needed to grab lunch after shopping. I'm picky about where I eat and found this place on yelp. It did it not disappoint. Had the best sandwich I had in a very long time. Actually my favorite kind of sandwich. Thin crispy chicken cutlet, provolone, broccoli rabe and arugula on pressed Italian bread. I have not had this combo in years. They made it to perfection. Had an imported arancia Rosa soda with it. Finished off with a cappuccino. The bombollini and other desserts looked yummy but I had no room. My Husband and Mother loved their sandwich's too. They have some Italian imports to buy. Hard to resist all the good stuff. Really, really enjoy the pizzas. The Sicilian is perfect, not too much cheese - good blend of sauce and cheese. Plus, leftovers reheat well. The baked ziti pizza comes with additional sauce on it. One slice is a meal. Their regular NY style pizzas are so yummy. Their crust is amazing. It's crispy on the outside but still doughy inside. It's the best crust around with great flavor. I keep forgetting to stop by for their café items. Since they stay open longer than the traditional cafés around I'll make a point of it. It's very clean, and their Italian items are atractively displayed. It's my favorite pizza place nearby. I wish there was more seating since it's become so popular. read more

Grabbed two large pizzas to go... their large cheese and large margarita. Both pizzas were good. Bit of a thicker crust with some chew. The margarita had good flavor. Fresh ingredients. Seems like they use the mozzarella block not fresh mozzarella. It was still good, I prefer my margarita with fresh mozzarella. Could also use more basil. With that said, it was very good. The cheese pizza, although it was good, it was a bit salty for me. I assume that's from the cheese. We also had the cheese calzone (just ricotta and mozzarella cheese). This was very good. Great calzone crust loaded with cheese. Really recommend giving this a try. Overall the menu looks great. Seems to have a good selection of dishes. Something for everyone. The service on the phone was good... could maybe clean up the tone a bit. I had the pizza picked up and it was ready on time. The pizza was good and the calzone I loved. I have been ordering from this restaurant for the day it open its doors. I normally pick up my orders, but tonight I had my order delivered. The delivery service is Slice. my order arrived, but I was never notified. It was sitting outside in the cold for at least 20 minutes. The salad I ordered, which was steak and gorgonzola salad, the steak was fatty and tough and for the price I paid for this i was totally ripped off it was horrible. The pizza was as if i took it out of the freezer, cold & hard like a rock. I called Massimo's and told them what happened with the delivery Service and the answer I got from Massimo was "it's not our fault, It's the delivery service's fault, We're not at fault." I disagree with this because that delivery service is a reflection of your restaurant. You choose to use a sloppy delivery service you lose customers. Prices are reasonable too and I argue is the best sandwich/grinder spot in this area of Westport avenue. Haven't gotten a chance to try their pizza, pasta, or deserts yet - but their grilled chicken caprese sandwich was very good. This is a great spot for lunch or a quick bite if you want a fresh meal. I was excited to try this place.. It is very nice inside. The egg frittata was okay, as was the croissant. I would say average as far as croissants go -- a little too overbaked. Cappuccino - tasted mostly of milk. Sfogliatella - I can't fairly rate these as I will never find one like they tasted in Italy. I guess it was average for around here. Returned for lunch another time and the chicken in our entree was much too tough. If it were tender and of better quality, this dish would have been very good, as the sauce was delicious. The pizza slice was overbaked and quality of cheese just wasn't good. Overall, I guess it's worth a try. Try to pick something that doesn't look over-baked. It's hard to explain the food is really wonderful except for one part. We have tried several times with different foods--pizza, sandwiches, appetizers. And every single time the amount of salt on everything is so bad that our tongues end up feeling burned with salt. We have had guests with high blood pressure and we had to stop and order different food. The ingredients are so good. The cheese on the pizza is so good. Their sauce is our favorite of all restaurants around here. But if you want to eat your week's worth of salt in one meal then this is the place. We are disappointed Ted but we can't eat there anymore. We eat out often and from NC, CT, NY and NJ Massimo's stands out with the most salt in all their recipes. read more

I work down the street so I figured I'd stop in last night. It's a Super cute little spot. Staff is welcoming and friendly. I got the chicken Scarpariello grinder and caprese salad. The greens and toppings of the salad were deliciously fresh and crisp. The grinder was sooooo good. It was killing me driving home smelling it ha. I love chicken scarpariello and order it frequently. Ive never had it on a grinder though. It was delicious and decently spicy. Im used to it having sausage in it too, this didn't but nevertheless it was still very good. This place is heaven! The staff is so friendly and you get the feeling that they enjoy working there the second you walk in. It's also decorated very well and clean. While waiting for an order, the gentleman working gave me a slice of pizza to try. The crust was insanely, perfectly crispy. The pizza was very good. The Sicilian had a crispy crust but was light inside. Plenty of sauce and cheese. It is hard to find a good Sicilian pie but they nailed it. The regular cheese pie was very good. Perfect for one hungry person or 2 meals for a lightweight. There are only 2 small tables but plenty of seats at counters. They have plenty of other selections for breakfast like Italian croissants and fritatas.. The inside of the restaurant is so bright, clean, and open once you walk in. There isn't a ton of seating, so it's really a spot for small groups and takeout. The staff is very friendly and inviting, and it seems like they take the time to know their customers because one of them joked around with one of the women who came in about how her husband doesn't like cheese. I ordered the grilled chicken caprese sandwich and a slice of the pizza rustica. They heated up the slice for me to eat while I waited for the sandwich to be done, which was nice of them to offer. I took the sandwich home, and it didn't take me long to finish it because it was very good (highly recommend getting it on the sesame seed bread!), hence why I only took a picture of half the sandwich. The grilled chicken was very tender, and the balsamic was sharp and just a little sweet. I also took some seven layer cookies from their shelves filled with a multitude of Italian goodies, which were light and not overpoweringly sweet. Overall excellent vibe and food here! read more
