Visited John the Baker in Stamford for the first time. Its your classic, family Italian restaurant with all the fan favorites (pizza, pasta, salad, dessert). Nothing frilly in the interior/atmosphere but the food is solid. We tried all sorts of dishes and were happy! The pizza was particularly delicious and I inhaled my zeppoles immediately, so good. Highly recommend if you want a classic, Italian meal without the fuss. Service was attentive and great!

Visited for lunch yesterday and had a great time filled with great food! The mussels were some of the best mussels I ever tried I'd come back just for those alone! Service was kind and quick. The restaurant is cozy. I loved the seafood dishes and would definitely be back.

Not only was this the worst pizza I've had in Stamford, it may have been the worst pizza of my entire life. My old bowling alley had better pizza... John the baker pizza tasted absolutely terrible, low quality cheese, not enough sauce and just overall bad flavor. The manager was also hitting on my wife when we were picking up the order. Just all around terrible

I think we found our new favorite spot for pizza in Stamford! John the Baker is one of those places I passed by often and wondered about, and what we found was a super family friendly, no frills spot that serves all the classic Italian dishes you could want. They haven't changed their pizza recipe in the over 60 years they've been in business, which is a testament to how great their pizza is! We were happy with everything we had, and the clam appetizer was super tasty too. Loved that you could pick out any pasta with any kind of sauce as a pairing with your entree, and we were impressed to see they had a full bar too. All of the dishes arrived quickly to our table, and we were in and out within an hour. So glad we stopped in!

When I used to live in Stamford many many years ago this was my go to place to pick up or dine in for pizza. It was my last night visiting Stamford and I wanted a great meal so I stopped by my old favorite. It was about 7:45 so it wasn't terribly busy. I was greeted and seated promptly and my soda arrived with a few minutes. I decided on the chicken piccata with angel hair pasta topped with garlic and olive oil. The meal came with a salad that was a perfect size and some bread. My entree arrived in the perfect time and I eagerly dug into it. The chicken was cooked to perfection. The sauce nice and lemony just as expected. The accompanying veggies nice and fresh and loved the zucchini that was so great. Service was very attentive and my soda refilled without having to ask. If you're in Stamford and looking for a great meal that's reasonable and a great value I do recommend John The Baker!

What they have on website is not what I received. I ordered specifically thru their website what was to be three (3) quarts of soup to receive the following: one quart of chicken and rice (which ended up being mainly rice and at best a tablespoon of chicken). It tastes of water with no flavor. Where's the chicken?!? One what I expected to be quart as it is $11 and DOES NOT SAY PINT (website is VERY VERY MISLEADING as it has pint sizes above priced at around $8 you click the link and all different box s for server pop up. Specifically as an appetizer check box , as an entree check box - which is what I selected). This also taste like water. Difference from this and the rice soup is it had one (1) piece of chicken. Again where's the chicken? Last but not least, was red escarole & beans with sausage quart (I also selected "as entree" and got a pint. The sausage is burnt and the broth has soooo much salt I spit it out. I know sausage can be salty so the cook ‍ should know not to add to much additional salt to the food. I called JOHN THE BAKER to get a refund and return the soup only to be given on excuse (prices went up. That's why you got a pint not a quart. We are not giving you your money back. We don't do that. We can give you a discount). Maria and Willy should not be in restaurant management. I don't want a discount I just want my money back. Take your soup back and give me back my $50.00. I can take a bag of ramen soup and do better than what they try to pass off. Actually, I just opened up a can of Campbell chicken with rice soup and threw it in the microwave and it tastes a 1,000 times better than what #JohnTheBaker tries to pass off as chicken rice soup. It not only had flavor to it instead of water broth it had MORE CHICKEN. Know this, you could offer me a month of free meals and based on what I experienced tonight, I wouldn't not accept it nor give it away. #Johnthebakerstamfordctsucks; #Johnthebakerstamfordctstealsmoneysellingbadfood; #Johnthebakerstamfordctbeware Where's the chicken John The Baker? Where's the flavor John The Baker? Why burnt sausage John The Baker? Why serve bowl of salt water and call it soup John The Baker?

Food was delicious! The burger was cooked to perfection, fries and the cheesesteak was good too. The steak meat was seasoned and not dry at all. Their was also no long wait time and the staff was also very friendly. I will be coming back here again!

The mom & pop pizza This one is the winner !

Food GOOD!!! Limoncello potent!!!! Started with the small house salad ... it came with shaved Gorgonzola !!!! This was a 1st normally blue cheese is crumbled. Yes shaved is better!! It was easy to stack the folk with the perfect bite of lettuce, Gorgonzola, carrots and tomato. The creamy Italian dressing taste fresh. Next came the pizza...so many to choose from so little stomach room... I had the clams casino and the mom&pop ‼

Delicious dressing with the garden salad. I added Buffalo tenders and they were delicious

First time at John the Baker and I will certainly be back. The place is spotless! Our cannoli was hand filled to order. The drinks are fun and the food is delicious. Service was top notch as well.

This is a large "2 topping" pizza. Paid $1.75 for each topping even though we order only half

White Clam Pizza -- A Must-Try Legend Many reviews…read moreconsistently rave that Frank Pepe's clam pie lives up to its reputation. The white clam pizza delivers a punch of clams, garlic, and cheese on that signature thin, char-charred New Haven-style crust -- garlicky, salty, and utterly memorable. It's the pie people seek out when they make a pilgrimage to Frank Pepe's, and some say it's the best pizza they've had in years. The clams are generous and fresh-tasting, the crust is crisp yet chewy, and every bite feels like a perfect balance of sea and oven fire. For seafood lovers and adventurous eaters, this is the pie to order -- bold, classic, and worth the hype. Margherita Pizza -- Simple, Fresh, and my son loved it. While the clam pizza steals a lot of the spotlight, the margherita and original tomato pies are also beloved. The margherita is beautifully simple: ripe tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and basil with that same irresistible coal-oven char on the crust. It's not as brash as the clam pie, but it's an excellent showcase of quality ingredients done right. Red-sauce traditionalists especially appreciate how Pepe's tomato-forward pies complement the zingier clam slice, making them great to share with a group

The clams were fresh, the crust had that signature char and chew, and I didn't miss the tomato sauce for a second. Judging from nearby tables, though, the red pies are every bit as popular. We grabbed seats at the bar, and that turned out to be part of the fun. The bartender was fantastic and even shared the secret to a perfect Whiskey Sour: dry shake the whiskey, lemon juice, and egg white first to build that silky foam, then add ice and shake again. She also noted that aquafaba--the liquid from canned chickpeas--can create a similar effect for vegan or egg-free drinkers. The cocktail arrived beautifully presented with a real Luxardo cherry and was as good as any craft cocktail I've had - which is sayin' something LOL! The place was packed, the music was great, the energy was infectious, and it was obvious the locals genuinely love Sally's. That's always a good sign, and this place more than lived up to the hype.

We still ordered food (terrible decision), waited 20 minutes...now here comes the fun! A group of 5-6 walks in, seemed notably surprised at how full the place is, says that they should have made a reservation, and proceeds to ask for table service. My husband and I were sitting at the end of a six-seater table when we walked in, which we were guided to by the waiter right away because apparently it was available. A few minutes after the group walked in and asks for table service, a guy (supposedly a supervisor) asks us to get up from the table, saying that this table was reserved for a group of five and the waiter made a mistake by telling us it was available. It was clear from the time the group walked in they did not have a reservation. Regardless, we got up, proceeded to walk to a "table" which was a crappy fold up placed only several feet from the stage where live music was being played. Aside from the fact that they clearly just put the table there just to have somewhere to move us, my husband is hard of hearing with sensitive hearing aids, and he can't be seated right next to amplified live music. I told the "supervisor" who moved us this fact, and he said the only other option would be to sit outside. We were moved outside - it was almost about to start pouring, we were seated at a similar crappy fold up table, and no coverage over the table. Lo and behold, our food comes out over 25 min after ordering to this crappy shaky table that's about to get rained on. The kindest employee sitting outside overhears my complaints, tries to remedy the situation by going inside, and then calling people to help. Honestly, he didn't have to do anything, and his kindness is the only good thing I can note about this experience. I guess the guy he was speaking to on the phone didn't realize he was on speaker and I heard him ask the kind employee where the customers (we) were from, and whether we were young or WHITE - which is a separate issue all together! In the end, the waiter came out and apologized (not the person who asked us to move), offered us free cocktails and desserts. But, we just asked for the food to be boxed up so we could leave before it started raining. TLDR: we were kicked out of our table to an outside table in crappy weather for a bigger group that came in after waiting 20+ minutes for our food
