Oh can't believe I waited so long to post a review . We have been here now many times and the food is always fresh , well made and very delicious. I love their version of the cold cucumbers, and their beef noodle soup is one of my favorites, along with the juicy pan fried dumplings! When they first opened a while back the wait would be crazy on any given day . They are still pretty busy but the wait is no longer too bad and makes this a regular spot for us . This Uncle will become your favorite , I'm sure :)
I had a great experience here. The food was so good. I got to try out the fried rice, and they definitely accommodated my request of not wanting shrimp. The ambiance was really nice and looked very traditional. The service was amazing the servers were really nice and informative. Definitely would come again.
Came here on a Friday evening. They use yelp waitlist which is convenient. We had about a 15min wait. This place is located in a little strip of restaurants across the parking lot from some business buildings with plenty of parking. We ordered the xiao long bao pork soup dumplings, pan fried pork dumplings, garlic noodles with beef, scallion pancakes and green beans. The food came out very quickly. The soup dumplings were seasoned well with a good amount of soup. The skins were a nice texture. The pan fried dumplings also had a good amount of soup though I would have preferred a bit less breading. The garlic noodles were garlicky and parmesany. The scallion pancakes were flaky with a good crisp. Finally the green beans were nicely flavored with a crisp. Portions were also good sized. Their chili oil was quite mild but tasty. The service was friendly, quick, and efficient. The space though compact was nice and clean. Given the opportunity we'd come again! Thanks for the enjoyable dinner!
We made a reservation for 5 on a Tuesday night but it wasn't really needed as the restaurant wasn't busy and we were seated right away. We ordered a PLETHORA of food but let me tell you, as quickly as we ordered, the food came out just as fast. Everything we ordered just hit, honestly no notes. Some of our favorites from the night were the Scallion Pancake (light and crispy, one of the best I've had), Salt & Pepper Fried Squid and the Stir-fry Green Beans. Random side caveat, we also had the Truffle Angus Beef Fried Rice, which was delicious. However, I don't think I'd recommend getting it for just 1-2 persons as it's quite rich. For reference, we got the regular variety so it might be different with the spicy version of this dish. Overall, the service was great and we will definitely be back to try other items on the menu.
The restaurant is a bit small and narrow. There is a big window into the kitchen which allows customers to observe how their food is prepared. Pork Soup Dumplings 10/10 It was flavorful and provided with dipping sauce as well that compared great. Will definitely order it again. Comes with 8 dumplings. Pork Potstickers 9/10 It had a great crisp on the potstickers. Also came with a dipping sauce that compared well. Would've wished for more as they are smaller in size than other places or lower the cost but either way, amazing plate!
Definitely one of the better dumpling places around town. We came in on a Sunday afternoon and got lucky finding a table for six, as the space is on the smaller side and mostly has smaller tables. Since it was our first time, we ordered a bunch of items to try. The pan-fried pork buns: were a highlight! Crispy on the bottom, soft on top, and filled with a clean, juicy soup that didn't have that heavy ginger taste. The soup dumplings xlbs had perfect, delicate skins and were incredibly juicy; the classic pork and the crab & pork were my favorites. The pork xlb had tender meat and was juicy, flavor was clean, the crab one is definitely for the seafood lovers, it has a nice SF umaminess too like a crab roe fishball lol. Other standouts included the spicy wontons in a great chili oil sauce and the truffle Angus beef fried rice, which featured surprisingly tender beef and a subtle, well-balanced truffle flavor. For dessert, the chocolate xlb, was excellent and tasted just like a strawberry Nutella crepe, though the matcha version was a bit too concentrated and bitter for my liking. Overall, the food came out quickly, the staff was friendly, and the service was great. I'll definitely be coming back soon!
unfortunately, Din Tai Fung has kinda ruined all other restaurants that serve XLBs for me. I dropped by Uncle Dumpling for lunch on a Saturday. There's a nice parking lot and, the collection of restaurants/stores in this little plaza give a nice vibe. There isn't a ton of seating inside; you kinda get an idea from some of the various Yelp pics.... and, there are a couple tables outside as well. The Food: - Pork Xiao Long Bao: this was fine...... I guess it's about as good as my memory of Journey to the Dumpling. Honestly, I'd say it's in the ballpark of goodness as the frozen Mila XLBs you can buy at Costco. again, Din Tai Fung has kinda ruined XLBs everywhere else I've gone since no one else comes close. - Spicy Pork Xiao Long Bao: this had an odd tanginess to it.. like there was a bit of kimchi in it or something... I didn't care for it (and, I do happen to love kimchi).. and, it wasn't very spicy either. pass on this one. - Spicy Wonton: this was probably the best thing I had here. it was fine. not particularly spicy. and a bit salty. but, it was fine. - Pan-Fried Juicy Pork Buns: I think the filling in this is the same as the XLBs... you just get it in a pan-fried bun instead. I think I actually preferred the regular XLBs bc the larger size of this thing made it kinda hard to eat. - Garlic Noodle: I don't know what I was expecting here... and, I know I shouldn't expect Crustacean (just like I shouldn't expect Din Tai Fung) bc this certainly wasn't anything like Crustacean. These were okay.... the flavor of oyster sauce dominated my palate in an unpleasant way. - Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings: these were okay. they ask if you want them spicy or mild. I got mine mild, but I probably should've gotten it spicy. The outside was nice and crispy, but the wing itself was kinda bland despite being covered with chopped garlic. Other things: - The food comes out fairly quickly & scalding hot..... so, don't burn your mouth! - I'd never really thought about it before, but every place that serves XLBs should also have spoons with flat bottoms; this place does not have flat-bottomed spoons. I like to rest my XLBs in my soup spoon while it cools, and since these spoons had rounded bottoms, my dumpling was always kinda lying sideways. - There's only one single-room unisex bathroom in the back, which is probably fine for the size of the restaurant; though, I did get stuck waiting behind a couple people when I needed to use it. so, I guess if you're not an XLB snob like myself & find Journey to the Dumpling and frozen Mila XLBs to be fantastic, then you may like this place quite a bit.... but I was rather disappointed....
I came here on a Wednesday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all. We were seated as soon as we walked in. We ordered the pork xlb, the chocolate xlb, the cucumber salad, and the spicy wontons. Everything was delicious. To start, the cucumber salad was very fresh and refreshing. The pork xlb came out next, hot and freshly cooked. The spicy wontons were my favorite. The portion size was generous and they were incredibly filling and flavorful. The chocolate xlb was also super yummy. The chocolate filling was slightly sweeter than expected but still not too sweet. I enjoyed that it came with a tiramisu sauce for dipping which really paired well with it.
Went on Saturday night close to closing and it was busy, definitely recommend joining the waitlist online ahead of your arrival so you can get seated quickly. The food was amazing! I had the pork xiao long bao and the chocolate xiao long bao. The portions were good and the food was ready quickly. Definitely will be returning soon!

If I could eat here everyday I would. Soup dumplings are bomb and come out quick. The string beans are my favorite- I eat an entire plate each time we come. Service is always quick and the place is usually busy but never gets too loud. read more

Loved this place! We shared a bunch of dishes, and every single one was delicious. The food arrived quickly, and the staff was friendly. We ate it all so fast I didn't even get many photos. I'll definitely be back for more dumplings! read more

I've had the pleasure of eating here twice, and I think I'll keep coming back. I'm lucky it's a short distance from my work. Came here on a Friday at 1pm, and was seated immediately, though we did a shared table with other customers (I like the sharing and efficiency of getting us seated and turning tables). No wait so maybe we lucked out. For two we ordered the cucumber and spicy wontons as appetizers, garlic noodles and pork and shrimp xiao long bao, and of course wouldn't say no to the chocolate xiao long bao for dessert. Quick service., ever attentive. If you're in a tight lunch window, this resto is a good try. The dishes were fresh, hot, and just the perfect flavors to satisfy any dumpling craving. I really appreciate their chili oil as it really had a kick. Don't be survived if I review them again. They're that good. read more

Love this spot for soup dumplings! They have Yelp waitlist, which is super convenient. The restaurant is on the smaller side but they seem to turn over quickly. Love that you can see them folding the dumplings in the window! We always order their soup dumplings, whatever flavor we're feeling. Their regular pork is great, and I also like their pan fried dumplings. Service isn't the most warm, but it's efficient. Depending on the size of your party you might be a bit squished. Decent parking. read more
Late review, but I've dined here twice now and both experiences were great! My sister and I came for lunch on a Sunday, and although there was a short wait, it was worth it. I'd recommend making reservations ahead of time since seating inside is limited. You can watch them making the dumplings so you know they're fresh and made to order. We ordered the Pork XLB, Crab & Pork XLB, Cucumber Salad, and Chili Wontons, and every dish was a hit. My favorites were the Chili Wontons and Pork XLB--both packed with great flavor and perfectly balanced. Service was quick, the food quality was excellent, and atmosphere made you feel like you were at miniature neon night market and overall it was another enjoyable visit. Definitely won't be my last--I'm already looking forward to coming back! read more
Pork xiao long bao!! Very delicious and made fresh by the kitchen! They came out souper hot, and I like that the wrap/skin of the dumpling wasnt too thick nor thin. The broth was delicious and had the right amount of flavor! Cravings were definitely satisfied today Staff was super friendly and welcoming! I love that they provided big soup spoons to eat the dumplings with, it made eating mess free :) read more
First visit to Uncle Dumpling at it sure won't be my last. Not only is this in a really fun and exploitable shopping center, Uncle Dumpling itself is decorated wonderfully inside and out. The service itself was great they were very attentive and friendly, always keeping empty plates off the table and checking on us. Everything also came out super quick and piping hot. The food, was decent.... The Jajang noodles were definitely a favorite but they did need quite a bit more spice for me, I loaded them up with chili oil. Interesting side bar about the chili oil, it's very mild here. I could never get enough to actually make my food spicy. The dumplings were tasty as well, the truffle version being the favorite over the standard pork. The S&P squid is actually quite fantastic and we found it to be even better dipped in the sauce that came with the beef shank. I just with the squid had some 5 spice. The local places I go to always have a hint of 5 spice in their S&P offerings and it gives it a nice extra depth of flavor. The desert Xio Long Bao were pretty great, nice little treat at the end. Things that stand out to me first, lacking a bit of selection here. There is no Shui Mai, one of our favorites so I would probably not be returning anytime soon, and there is also no steamed buns, which are my kids favorite part of Dim Sum. They do have scallion pancake, but no beef pancake, another favorite of my family. read more

Everything was flavorful and fresh, but the highlights were the pan-fried juicy pork buns (crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned) and the chocolate xiao long bao, which was such a fun and delicious twist on dessert. Service: Service was excellent--friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Food came out quickly, one dish at a time, so everything felt freshly made. Atmosphere: There was no wait when we arrived around 5:30pm on a Friday, but it is a smaller indoor dining spot so I could see it getting busy at peak times. We loved the open-concept kitchen with a window to watch the dumplings being made--it added to the experience. Overall: A fantastic date night spot! Great food, great service, and a unique atmosphere. We'll definitely be back to try more from the menu. Highly recommend for dumpling lovers. read more

This was my second time coming here and it is both so cute and inviting. You are able to see the kitchen and see all the fresh to made food. My sister and I loved everything we got and are so excited to try it next. The staff was super attentive and friendly. read more
I think this is one of the good chinese dumpling restaurant I've tried. Its a small restaurant with a very small space but the taste of their food are so much bigger!!! I love all the food that we ordered specially the fried rice omg! Im still craving for this until now. They have also a variety of drinks to choose from. Love that they served the wonton soup freshly hot. The pancake scallion is okay, i feel like they should put more inside of it. But will always come back here for more. read more
Stopped in for lunch. Ordered the Garlic noodle, Scallion pancake& Chicken dumplings. I don't think any of the items I ordered are really the favorites, but I don't eat pork so I wasn't able to try a lot of the items. I enjoyed the garlic noodle, but I will never order the scallion pancakes again. I barely tasted any scallion. It was too fried for me. The chicken dumpling was OK. I don't think I ordered the right items because everything was just OK. Nothing I would really want to come back for but if they made more soup dumplings without pork & just with chicken or shrimp, I'd love to try them. Staff we're friendly. They were very quick to pick up the plates as soon as each dish was finished in seconds staff was there to pick up & clear the plate. A couple times I was still chewing and staff was already there asking if I was done with the plate. I think it's good & bad as I only ordered 3 items & I didn't think leaving the dishes there till i left would've been so bad. Restaurant was clean & really cute decor. I like the Hot sauce. It's not spicy at all and I had to add a lot to dip my chicken dumpling because I don't think the chicken dumpling had much taste to me. read more

The second I walked in, Cody C was very attentive and made sure I got seated and had what I needed right away. This included a menu, water, plate, chopsticks, napkins and a spoon. I was able to place my order in a reasonable amount of time. I had to get the scallion pancake, sesame balls, chicken dumplings and summer lychee tea. Everything was made fresh to order and tasted delicious. For a place so small, this is sure worth it! The interior is decorated beautifully. I love that customers can see what the kitchen is up to. I went right when they opened at 11 and was seated right away. During my time there, a big party of 6 showed up, there were a couple parties of 2 and a few to go orders. There's plenty of parking in the lot by the surrounding businesses and there's a restroom in the back inside the restaurant. I highly recommend you check out Uncle Dumpling because they have great customer service, their food is absolutely delicious and the environment is cozy and fun. read more

The service was fast and efficient. I do wish there were more space inside, especially a comfortable waiting area. The Shanghai chow mein was a huge favorite among our group, and I personally loved the sesame balls -- everything we tried was tasty. We're a family of four and ordered two plates of chow mein, but honestly, we should have gotten two orders of the pan-fried pork buns as well! We'll definitely be back! read more

I got the garlic noodles with beef. A nice filling portion for about $20. Is that the going rate in Roseville? But it was good. The beef was tender and flavorful. The noodles had a nice chew and I smelled like garlic when I got back to work. Service is fast and friendly. read more
Great food with exceptional service. Restaurant is small with maybe about a dozen tables. But the cooks here are pushing out orders quickly. My lady and I ordered several dishes all of which came out within minutes of ordering. The dish that stood out to me was the soup dumplings with pork. The broth was delicious and the burst of juice upon the first bite made it a fun dumpling. Also try their cucumber salad! The uncle fried rice was super fluffy. Really enjoyed that. We also loved the garlic noodles and although it wasn't the greatest it was great nonetheless. The fried potstickers here were crunchy and filled with juicy meat. Server was polite and the other workers came to check on us throughout our dining experience. Clean bathrooms as well. read more

Came here on a recommendation from another Yelper and was not disappointed! This place is great! A casual Chinese restaurant with a dozen tables and a lot of staff. You can seem them working through the glass pane pumping out dumpling after dumpling. Offerings - Garlic Spinach: Exactly what it sounds like. Great flavor and not too much salt or other seasonings as compared to the other dishes. A good palette cleanser, if you will. - Pork Xiao Long Bao: Really thin dumpling skin, prone to breaking so be very gentle. The soup flavor was good and the meat flavor was more mild. I really liked that this restaurant does not follow the mainstream theory that salt = flavor. Especially for a Chinese restaurant, the sodium levels were lower than usual. - Pan Fried Dumplings: This was not my favorite. I have been spoiled by the SF market and was expecting a more distinct difference between textures. Here it was more of a bao based texture around the dumpling and lightly fried so it was more crispy at the bottom. I would also say the skin was more thick than usual in this dumpling. The flavor was good. - Mantou: Fluffy bao texture perfect for dipping in condensed milk. They achieved texture that was soft and pillowy but not sticky when consumed. Really great. - Shanghai Chow Mein: Wow, this was the star of the night. Thicker noodles cooked al dente?! And the sauce was so good. Definitely on the salty/savory side but really well balanced with sweet and umami flavors. There was not much pork in the dish and you could pay a bit extra to add more protein but the mushrooms were really excellent. It was like they were soaked or marinated in a sauce previously and really gave that protein element. - Chocolate Xiao long Bao: Yum! Very similar to the Din Tai Fung one, just without the mochi element. Creamy chocolate in a small XLB wrapper. Only 5 per order. read more
Immediately greeted and seated, server was very kind and attentive. Very knowledgeable about menu items and gave great recommendations. Space is very clean, warm lighting, and nice decor. There's a clear screen between the kitchen and dining area so you can watch how they make the dumplings. The food came out pretty quickly. Everything was hot and fresh, very flavorful. The garlic noodles were so yummy! Fan favorite across the board, the garlic flavor was present but not too overpowering. And the texture was perfect too, not too soft or hard. The soup dishes were so yummy and had the perfect amount of spice. The meat in the dumplings tasted good, but the texture and look threw me off. The fried squid was delicious, so crunchy, good appetizer. The Chocolate Xiao Long Bao for dessert was the perfect way to end the meal. It had a chocolate and strawberry filling. I came here with my son and found the location easily it's right next to the massage place. As we walked up, we noticed a cozy little seating area outside, though it wasn't clear if it belonged to Uncle Dumpling. Inside, the restaurant was bustling, but the wait was surprisingly short only about 10 minutes. We checked in on the tablet by the door and waited outside until our name was called. The background music was a nice touch and helped balance out the noise from the crowd. We were seated by the window with a view of the open kitchen, where you can watch the cooks preparing everything fresh. One downside: there were a few large flies near the cooking area, which was a bit off-putting. We shared a few dishes from the menu: * A4 Crab & Pork Dumplings- Delicious and full of flavor. *B1 Pan-Fried Juicy Pork Buns- Super juicy and very tasty. *D6 Popcorn Chicken- A bit over-fried for my taste maybe it'll be better next time. *E3 Garlic Noodles- The texture was a little too soft for me, though the flavor was good. It almost felt like a dish you'd find at an Italian spot. One thing to note: they don't offer fountain drinks, which was a bit unexpected. Overall, the service was fast and the food was flavorful. Uncle Dumpling never disappoints. Even when the place is literally packed, the service is still fast, friendly, and attentive. You can tell they truly care. All of the dumplings are made fresh the moment you place your order, and it really shows in the taste. Everything comes out hot, juicy, and perfectly cooked. My absolute favorite is the pork dumplings -- they honestly taste like home. Comforting and flavorful! If you're craving real, freshly made dumplings with great service, Uncle Dumpling is a must-try. Craving Satisfied and Then Some! Was seriously craving dumplings on a late Sunday afternoon, and my wife--who's been here before--insisted I finally try this place. Glad I listened! We joined the Yelp waitlist before heading over and good thing we did--it was busy when we walked in, but we were seated right away. We ordered the Fried Squid, Uncle Fried Rice, Stir-Fry Green Beans, and Sesame Balls. The squid came out first with their house dipping sauce--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly done. The fried rice and green beans followed, and both were hot, fresh, and packed with flavor. The rice had just the right texture, and the green beans were a great balance of savory and crisp. To finish, the sesame balls came out warm and fresh--perfectly chewy with a light sweetness. Our server was super nice and attentive throughout the meal, and the whole place was clean, orderly, and had a comfortable vibe.
