So close to our house, yet this was the first time we've been in since they opened late 2025. We've seen a couple of businesses in this same spot since moving to Rocklin. Tokyo Express and Ohana Hawaiian BBQ were both excellent "go-to" hot meal sources for us. Though it says ramen on it's store signage they essentially serve Hawaiian comfort food, hence the 808. The aesthetic certainly is a love letter to the 50th state with oddly, a single poster of Tokyo. They are a counter service restaurant with a letter-board menu plastered on the wall. Water, extra sauces and to-go containers is a help yourself set-up. My son ordered the Broke da Mouth ramen (spice level 2) which had a rich umami broth, jammy marinated eggs and that cheesy consistency which was our first encounter with a ramen dish. I curiously ordered the IYKYK Meat Jun which is a Korean-Hawaiian fusion dish made of pan-fried thin beef slices soaked. Great dipping sauce. My wife got the grilled Pulehu Spareribs. Savory with a charred & smoky crust. On the last two orders, the rice and macaroni salad were perfect partners that made both very filling plates. We enjoyed this visit. The crew was really helpful and friendly. The food was priced reasonably and portioned generously. This is a local & family-owned business worth patronizing. Tried 808 Ramen. We ordered the Meat Jun (IYKYK!), Portuguese sausage musubi, and garlic chicken. We've been meaning to check 808 Ramen out for some time, since it's close to home and the guy at my blood donation (Vitalant) place has raved about it. It replaced Ohana Hawaiian BBQ, which we only went to once. Same shopping center as Safeway, Panda, Chase. We got a bunch of dishes to try. Lasted us a few meals. They have weekend specials that aren't on their menu, which you can find on their Instagram. On the day we were there, the special was Garlic Shrimp, which is totally my husband! Everything was good, especially the short ribs. Only complaint from us is everything was a bit too salty for our taste. I understand restaurants like to add salt to make foods seem more flavorful for customers but it just seemed like every dish was too salty. Broth looks like it should be thickly rich, velvety smooth, it's surprisingly thin tasting and hardly has any aroma. Just two small slices of pork. Hard boiled egg was tasty. Noodles are wheat. Cooked al dente that by the end of the meal grew mushy. Sliced woodear mushrooms are good. The soft gooey mozzerlla cheese in the soup is weirdly unsatisfying (and I'm Italian who supposedly has mozzerella in my bloodstream). The parmesan cheese snow on top was also weird. So when my daughter graduated from college and she finally settled back in at home,she said one of the things she missed the most about living in the Bay Area were the high quality ramen shops she had access to. Well I suggested we go to our favorite ramen shop in the entire Sacramento area,808 Ramen on Sunset Blvd in Rocklin. We were quickly joined by her siblings and the four of us happily drove out to Rocklin. We got there early as we were the only customers there,though that didn't last long as others showed up a bit after we did. This restaurant is the type of spot where the menu is on the wall and you order at the cashier and then go find a table and when your food is ready it's brought out to you. This visit, we ordered a few dishes so we could truly try out what the restaurant had available. All three of my kids decided to go with a ramen and they just love the Broke Da Mouth ramen bowl featuring black garlic tonkotsu broth ($19.50) and freshly grated parmesan cheese-they got different levels of spice as they went with a 1-2 and 4 spice level. I went with a very unique to this restaurant dish called Meat Jun ($19.50). We also went with a scoop of macaroni salad for the table to share.($2.00)-An order of Manini Fries ($6.00) and a Portuguese Sausage Musubi.($4.50) After our meal we decided to try various flavors of their shaved ice as well ($5.50) Let's talk about these dishes. I've said it before and I will say it again,I think this spot has the best ramen broth in the area-it's so rich and flavorful-I think the key for them is their patient techniques in making their broth-it just leads to a better flavored broth. The use of craft noodles in their ramen also takes their ramen bowls up another level. Personally I'm a level 4 spice guy when it comes to my 808 ramen bowls but I aspire to one day making it to level 5. Let's talk about the side dishes. The macaroni salad is a steal at that price point and I can't see any visit to the shop being complete without eating this. The Manini Fries are a favorite of my daughters,they really enjoy the seasonings and the aioli sauce that's on the side truly elevates it. The Portuguese Sausage Musubi was my personal favorite side-I just thought the texture and seasonings of the rice were such a taste explosion,especially with the perfectly cooked sausage added to the bite-I could eat multiples of these every day if I had access. Lastly let's talk about my dish-Meat Jun. I will admit it was my first time having it and didn't know what to expect. It was incredible-strips of sirloin steak perfectly marinated with a light egg coating-it's a protein-packed dish. It was paired with a really nice chili oil-type sauce-went so well together. The dish came with a side of rice and a side of macaroni salad both were so yummy-I finished every bite. I could see myself ordering this dish in the future many times-I also don't remember seeing this dish served at many other spots in the area. The shaved Ice craze seems to be happening a bit right now in Sacramento-so I was pleasantly surprised to see it on the menu at 808-so we made sure to order this once we finished our meal. I got the P.O.G. (Passion Fruit-Orange-Guava) flavor on my shaved ice and I must say-it was perfect-it was exactly what shaved ice should taste like & at the price point of $5.50-it's a deal that is real tough to beat. Btw parking at this shop is plentiful as it shares a lot in a pretty big shopping center,so no issues there. After my appointment today, I was close by to enjoy a bit of Hawaiian comfort food. I have been hearing about Ramen 808 for quite a while and I need to tell you guys now... hurry up and get in here. Run, don't walk! I got here so fast, I was here before they opened, but I only waited a short time. 808 Ramen offers signature ramen, Hawaiian plates, appetizers and sides, dine in, take out, delivery... and great news!! They offer catering!!! Who wouldn't love eating from here!! I decided to order a few items so I could take some home to my adult child (who insists on me not calling her my munchkin or Smash, anymore). My ancestors would want me to order everything on this menu but I decided to go with the karaage chicken, Broke Da Mouth Ramen, macaroni salad, and a few Spam Musubi. As the food finished in the kitchen, Leslie, who took my order, brought me out the food items. The Spam Musubi was thick with fluffy furikake rice and Spam that is lightly shimmered in sweet soy sauce inside before it is wrapped in nori. I loved how fluffy and big it was! Super delicious! Next, the Macaroni salad came out. It was only $1.50 for the scoop. That was pretty good, but if you want to level it up, add a little bit of 808 Ramen's teriyaki sauce on it. It tasted great without the sauce, but that is how I prefer it. The Macaroni noodles were nice and soft and the creamy goodness tasted perfect. I may come back for a few scoops next time I am passing through... who am I kidding, I'm going to order more than that, lol! The Karaage Chicken is dark meat chicken that is Japanese style fried chicken. Marinated and then coated in cornstarch & deep fried... I could've finished the plate by myself, but someone special is waiting for some lunch! The chicken had amazing flavor; hooch on the inside and crispy on the outside. YUM!!! Last, I had the Broke Da Mouth Tonkotsu Ramem. It is their most popular Ramen that features their housemade pork broth infused with black garlic oil, garlic butter, topped with parmesan cheese, pork belly char siu, kikurage, green onions, and a whole aji tamago (a soft-boiled egg marinated in a sweet and salty soy sauce, mirin, and sake mixture)... Now that was pretty delicious! I liked the garlic slices in it and the amount of ramen they put in this bowl is enough to feed two! To me, it is unique of them to put the parmesan cheese and garlic butter in it. The pork belly in it was cooked just right where it was juicy and moist! The egg was cooked perfectly... the yolky center was so creamy! I loved every bite! I have never had tonkotsu ramen like the way 808 Ramem made it for me .. such a treat! Now, I need to come here for that craving! I liked how I got to pick my spice level.. I went with medium so that I could gage the heat and taste the flavors. Meduim was on the warmer side, but I think it was just right for me. I finished the scoop of Mac salad, but a lunch this delicious should be shared with someone you love! I guess I'm a creature of habit because I ordered the Loco Moco again and oh my goodness it was just as delicious as my previous experience. I ordered a ramen but they did not have pork chashu (which I'll say is a pretty important ingredient for a tonkatsu ramen). I ordered it anyways since it had a promising and unique broth, received it, and was really cold. Though I enjoyed the Parmesan topping, ramen is just not the same when it's lukewarm-cold. 808 Ramen is located in the Safeway plaza on Sunset Blvd in Rocklin where Ohana Hawaiian BBQ was. Interior has been redesigned with calm blue walls and Hawaiian themed art. The restaurant has 2 tables for two, 4 tables for four, and 9 counter seats (regular table height). Business was hopping on a cold and foggy Saturday night 1 hour before closing, so you may need to wait for a table or order to go. No waiting area. Tables by or in front of the door can be chilly. A party of 12 to 15 people with Hawaiian roots and connections to the Hawaiian restaurant owner arrived, traveling from West Sacramento just to experience. Food is authentic Hawaiian. The cashier taking my order seemed to both encourage me to try their signature Broke Da Mouth Ramen and warn me of its spice level. You have your choice of 5 spice levels. I originally was going to try 3, but downgraded to 2. Thai Chilis are used to spice the house made pork broth. 2 was good for me. I probably could handle 3. The cashier also took the time to check on me and my food despite how busy the restaurant was. Broke Da Mouth contains a lot of garlic: black garlic oil, garlic butter, and fried garlic slices. I was burping garlic the rest of the night and had some indigestion. Flavorful broth. It is also served with freshly grated Parmesan cheese, which looks like a snow pile in your bowl. 808 Ramen makes its own Hakata style Ramen, which are thin noodles cooked al dente. The texture reminded me of egg noodles, and the appearance reminded me of buckwheat soba noodles. Unique and unusual ramen noodles that are an acquired taste. I found the softboiled marinated ramen egg or aji tamago to be much too salty. It was gelatinous inside. The SPAM Musubi looks fancier than average because of its furikake seasoned rice. However, I found the SPAM to be dry and overcooked. Chicken Katsu was sold out, so you might want to call and inquire ahead if that's what you want to order. I thought the seasoned Manini Fries looked good. Loco Moco reviews are all positive. Restaurant offers Mochiko Chicken, which is Hawaiian style dark meat chicken batter fried with Mochiko sweet rice flour. Our plate lunches were delivered to our table (we found seating at a bar counter against the wall). My Loco Moco was one of the best (if not da best) I've ever tasted, like straight from the 808 (hence the name), like I'm back on island time. I saw some 808 Ramen pop up on Yelp and we happened to be near by. We were also still missing Hawaii so 808 Ramen sounded like the perfect choice. We walked in and instantly loved the vibe. The walls had lots of Hawaiian and Japanese prints, and the TV was playing surfing shows. The bathroom even had hilarious comic art with Hawaiian jokes. The menu had different ramens, appetizers, and plates with most dishes having fun names. We got the Diamond head ramen, chicken katsu curry, and IYKYK meat jun. Food was delicious! This place just opened up a week ago and owned by a small family and definitely tastes like authentic Hawaiian food! Our New Local Favorite- Here's why!! We checked out a new spot called 808 Ramen, serving Hawaiian-style comfort foods that are onolicious!! The menu is small, but honestly... I could've tried EVERYTHING. Caroline went with the Chicken Katsu Curry and we all loved it. The chicken was perfectly crunchy and that curry sauce was straight MONEY -- rich, deep flavor with that dark brown color we adore. It came with rice and macaroni salad. I ordered the Meat Jun (IYKYK) and OMG... it took me straight back to mom's cooking -- but dare I say... better than mom's Flattened and seasoned steak dipped in egg batter, pan fried, served with a little dipping sauce. Sweet, tangy, tender, DELICIOUS. I cleaned my plate! Debi had the Loco Moco, a Hawaiian classic: handmade hamburger patty over rice, topped with two over-medium eggs and gravy on the side. Great portion, super tasty, and yup -- Mac Salad included. We're SO happy to have this dish nearby! Hiromi ordered the Diamond Head Ramen. She's picky (because she's from Japan and knows her ramen!) -- and she loved the broth. That says everything. She just wished the noodles were thicker, but the ingredients were fresh and generous. We also shared ikageso (fried squid) -- tasty! But our favorite appetizer was hands-down the karaage chicken. Perfect seasoning, crispy, juicy... honestly didn't even need the sauce. Hawaiian food! Da Bomb! This could be the first authentic Hawaiian food in the area. Get the Loco Moco! Believe me, the gravy is so good and the Burger is huge! Egg is perfect! Checked out 808 Ramen during their soft opening and everything hit the spot. We tried the Broke Da Mouth ramen, the Chicken Katsu plate, and the Ikageso. The Broke Da Mouth ramen broth was rich and savory, noodles with great texture, and the egg was cooked perfectly. Nothing beats a perfectly yolky egg. The melted cheese on top made the bowl totally unique and extra comforting. The Chicken Katsu's breading was light and crispy, and the chicken stayed juicy. Of course, we had to have it with side mac salad but you can also have it with potato salad. Portions are generous and well worth the price. Even the little touches stand out--like the bathroom decorated with comic strips so you can learn some pidgin while you're in there. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu. 808 Ramen is bringing a taste of aloha, and we couldn't be more excited. read more

Love this place! It's hard to find a Hawaiian ramen place in the area, so when they had their soft open, we had to go! They chefs don't skimp on quality. We started with the chicken karaage with just a light coating, but the pieces are larger and juicy! The Pelehu short ribs were thicker than the ones you get at other Hawaiian places. The meat was tender and marinade was tasty. My husband had the Diamond Head level 3 spicy ramen and the broth was thick and flavorful. It was the first time I had the IYKYK meat Jun and it tasted like a thin piece of short ribs covered in scrambled eggs. The chicken katsu was made with dark meat so you know it wasn't dry. Since it was so delicious the 1st time, we decided to to go a second time and try something else. That time we had No Worry Chicken Katsu Curry, No Worry Beef Curry, and the Kuni ramen. The curry sauce was thick and you can taste the spices well. The beef curry had large pieces of carrots. We definitely will go back to try the other ramen dishes. They also have Saturday Specials. We didn't see the special for that Friday, but it was the Kahuku Style Garlic Shrimp. Those from Hawaii and have had the oxtail soup in Oahu should go this Saturday and try the Oxtail soup! It will be our go to for home cooked Hawaiian food! read more
