The food is delicious and fresh! They don't skimp on portions. My teriyaki beef was tender. My husband's chicken Katsu was tender and the breading was light and not oily. The mixed salad was fresh with just the right amount of dressing. We also had the California roll with a crab that was good! The calamari was also good with the sauce having a slight spicy taste at first bite but did not linger. Our waitress,Irish, was polite and responsive to our every need. Customer Service was non existent. Walked in for dinner and restaurant was empty . We were greeted by the sushi chef like in most Japanese restaurants and the waitress came out to seat us but had a grumpy attitude and gave us menus. We waited at least 10 minutes for her to come back out and take our order . We asked what the early bird specials were and she rudely just pointed at the menu . She seemed annoyed we asked about the menu and a stern attitude look like we were bothering her ( I wanted to walk out because of her rudeness ... but we decided to place our order). We ordered the pork Katsu dinner and a few rolls . Food was tasty and big portions . I would not recommend this place because of the customer service . My wife didn't like her salmon. She felt gypped. She even thought the tempura batter didn't seem authentic. So I'm sure we won't return. I did like my bento entree which was the chicken katsu though. They placed way too much salad dressing on the salad too. Huge no-no!!! We have a favorite Japanese restaurant already out in Roseville so we would rather return back to there. It has been awhile since my initial review. We came in during their happy hour. They have expanded the hours for it from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm (daily). We ordered the OMG and rainbow roll. Both were standard. We also had the veggie tempura, which I enjoyed but wished there was grated daikon with it. Rolls are incredibly delicious here! Quite humongous rolls too, so prices were understandable to go along with them. Personally though, a bit on the pricey side although their sushi IS delicious - just not worth the price tag for my taste. Parking is quite limited in the shared parking plaza so get here early. Nice seating arrangements inside with warm ambience and classy decor. Great sushi rolls here and sushi rice was yummy! Our favorites were Uni nigiri, sushi tacos, and the Lion King. Likely won't be back here thanks to the distance and other preferred spots closer to home, but I think this is a wonderful sushi joint for closer local patrons. My husband and I went here for a date night, I found this recommendation through TikTok. Our server, Irish, was not very pleasant - I am not sure if she was just having a bad night but she seemed very unhappy to be working & did not smile or have a welcoming attitude while taking our orders or checking on us. We ordered crispy calamari, Tonkatsu ramen, a tuna hand roll, & the Katsu Chicken plate, As far as servings - the plate portions were very big and perfect for 1-2 persons to enjoy. Crispy calamari was good, more crispy and fried than meat. Tonkatsu ramen was absolutely delicious & my favorite dish of the night - great taste & good portion size. Tuna hand roll was also very good & comparable to mikuni's hand rolls (great quality) Katsu chicken plate was very unsatisfying - the chicken was flat & dry - big portions but not tasty at all.. it came with a mound of white rice, dressed salad, and a side of sauce for the chicken. Overall, our service was not very inviting and for that alone I will not be returning. We always start with the sushi tacos, and they are an absolute must try. My personal favorite roll is the Douglas, but my husband and I have also tried several others including the Black Dragon, Honey, and Sunset rolls. Every single roll we have had has been delicious and has not disappointed. They have also recently updated their menu with some new rolls, which makes us even more excited to keep coming back and trying more. I ordered the Chicken Katsu and was pleasantly surprised with how large the portion was. My plate came with soup, rice and a salad. There was a lot of chicken. We ordered a variety of rolls to share. We came here before 9pm with a party of 11 on a Saturday night. They set up the table quickly for us and were able to split our bill 3 ways. The service here was amazing and our server was very attentive and accommodating to our specific needs. The seafood was top tier, so delicious!! Especially the Sake torro. The restaurant seemed family owned and if not the workers seem to enjoy working together. The chicken teriyaki was served as a really big portion for $15 which was also tasty but probably too big for the kids who ordered them. It can certainly be split into two for kids to share. There are plenty of great places for sushi, it comes down to experience at the end of the day in a saturated market of competing sushi places. We've since been going to Sake Sushi, Umi Sushi, and Sumo Sushi... all have been a million times better and we've been happy to move on and supporting other businesses as frequently. Finally we added Creamy Maguro $16. This was okay. -Ramen, was a good portion. I was expecting a bit more options in ramen choices since we searched for Ramen places. I guess having one ramen in your menu constitutes as being a ramen place. Only one choice at $15. Broth was okay, could use a bit more depth in flavor. The noodles did not taste fresh. In fact they were sticking to each other like they came from the refrigerator straight to the pot. -Teriyaki Rice plate $15, nephew loved it. The portion was huge. Chicken was tender and nicely cooked. Overall, experience was good. Service was great. Payment was done at the table. We tipped 20% in case anyone was wondering. Ambiance was nice and clean.
