For my meal, I had the Khao soi with fried tofu. I was surprised that the tofu comes on the side instead of in the dish but it still tasted good. This location does not take reservations and parking can be tricky, but they take your name and number for a wait list and text you when they're ready to seat you. More often than not, the wait times end up being shorter than anticipated. I've had the spicy chicken, duck, chashu - all are great and kind of depend on the mood you're in, but I usually default to the duck because I love corn in my ramen. Some apps we've tried and enjoyed are the kimchi potatoes, soft-shelled crab baos, and hanger steak (which is usually a default for us). They have several light Japanese beers and cocktails available to order. Tips: 1) If you're hungry, double noodles for $2 is totally worth it. It's actually a twice the portion and not just a little bit more. 2) Beware that the spice bomb is REALLY spicy. Duck ramen and the pork belly bao buns are my ultimate favorite. I love bringing friends here and showing them my favorite ramen spot. Service is quick and you get the community table feel. You can't make a reservation on line so you need to get there early to get on the list and all of the party must be present to sit. Its taste is unlike anything you have ever had. They make small buns, and dises with rice also, but the Spicy Chicken Ramen is their top seller. Im in here at least once every 10 days or so. Hint: As of now they are only open for 4 hours a day, from 5-9....but thats not due to a lack of customers. You will most likely be waiting for 20-50 mins on a Thursday, Friday, or Sat. They randomly had street corn (elote) on the menu as an appetizer, which we tried and really enjoyed. I really liked my Khao Soi -- nice to have a really filling, savory veg option and not feel like you're missing out. My partner enjoyed a spicy ramen, and appreciated the true opportunity to make it as spicy as he wanted with a side dish of some sort of additional spicy paste. Don't forget they have a lot of "extra" options so you can really customize your bowl if you'd like! They are pretty flexible. I also had an incredibly boozy cocktail (Wardaddy, I think?) with a beautiful flower frozen in the ice -- so charming! We tried the really cute Sake juice box, too. Who could resist? Our party of 4 was seated at a large table and towards the end of our dinner another party was seated right next to us on the same table. We were right next to other (maskless) people, not very covid safe. The waitress also said in a condescending voice that she needed the seat right next to us, making us feel rushed and unwelcome. A lot of the employees seemed to be standing around while the kitchen worked to make the food, making the service quite slow. Now onto the food... The pork buns - $10 for two small pieces. Not worth it! The pork was almost entirely fat. The hoisin sauce was good. The cucumber refreshing. The bun itself was also good. However, at $5 a bun, not worth it at all. Tofu - soft, but salty. Decent. Duck ramen - broth is not that flavorful, the arugula is a nice touch, the egg was essential as was the corn. The noodles are whatever. The duck also whatever. I ordered ramen and bao buns for delivery and this so so very good. It's a cold, snowy spring day and I craved a cozy delivery. I ordered the soft shell crab buns and they were fantastic! Sometimes bao buns arrive chewy when they are delivered. These were still the perfect texture. Soft, fluffy, and light chew. Pickled daikon and radish, spicy mayo, and crispy soft shell crab were perfect. I also ordered the spicy chicken ramen. I couldn't finish it, but I sure tried. The service here is impeccable. In all my years of dining I have never had my water constantly filled so perfectly until my experience at here at Uncle (and I drink a ton of water!). Great staff and so kind. You can't just get this food anywhere else either. Mustard seed jelly? Wow. I'm vegan and there's really only one entree but that'll do. This tofu melts in my mouth which I didn't even know could happen. Ambiance: fresh and everything feels so clean. Cool seeing the kitchen too. It was a little loud, but not in an annoying way. I love the natural lighting too. IMPORTANT: This restaurant takes their cancellation policy very seriously. They have a 10 min grace period. I do wish we could have eaten here but they are currently Take Out and Delivery only. We decided on the spot that worked for us and placed an order. My sister had the vegan ramen and I had the spicy chicken ramen and added the spice bomb. We shared the broccolini. We brought this back to our hotel and ate in a little library area. Like take out from most ramen or pho places, you need to reheat your broth on the stove until it simmers but the hotel's restaurant had closed and we didn't have a way to warm ours up so other than being a bit less hot in temp than we would have preferred, it was really tasty! I loved the broccolini side so much and I don't typically care for broccolini unless it's a bit charred, this one was spicy too making it perfection. I finally got to try Uncle which is a highly rated ramen shop on the north side. However, I was disappointed because they do not offer gluten-free noodles so I had to get my "ramen" with rice on the side. The flavor was underwhelming as well. I also got the Crudo: Sea Bass & Seaweed. While it tasted good, it was a very small portion for the price. I was also kind of uncomfortable with the T-shirts the staff were wearing; a cross with the words: "Ramen Saves." I understand they're trying to be cheeky and funny but I don't think what Jesus did for us all, and I mean all: straight, gay, black, white, male, female, whether you believe in Him or not, should be minimized in any way - even in jest. read more

Uncle's maybe the most delicious ramen I have eaten so far (I am not done searching). Came here for my birthday dinner, arrived right before they opened the doors and a line nearly around the block had already formed. Luckily, communal seating had us at a table quickly. My sister and BIL have been here several times and raved about the buns. Who am I to turn down a good bun, being the birthday girl I got to choose the flavors opting for the softshell crab and Chinese eggplant ones. OMG, I thought I died and went to bun heaven. The ramen noodles themselves were curly and perfectly al dente and the star of the bowl. Portion sizes were perfect, not too big, especially since one should partake in some appetizers. Our waitress suggested we split a "Spice Bomb" which turned out to be a pepper puree and Hot AF.
