The meal katsu curry with rice was okay, the portion was good. salmon and rice was okay, but nothing was too special. They don't seem to cook their miso soup tho but just pour hot soup in dried seaweed and tofu. The restaurant also offer nigiri, sushi, and sashimi. I went with a friend and sat at the sushi bar. We had mixed emotions about our dinner. I had the kurodai sushi and it was excellent - fresh and well prepared. We both had ramen. My friend had the lemon ramen with chicken instead of pork and I had the spicy miso ramen with chicken instead of pork. We were asked if we wanted to add an egg and both said yes. We were told we could trade out chicken for pork if we wanted to. We both did. The broth and noodles were good, egg perfectly cooked. The chicken wasn't great. It was a bit rubbery and had no flavor. Overall my ramen was a rating of "fine to good", but not great. While we found the server and the sushi chef very friendly and the place was cozy and quaint with an upscale feel, we didn't like not being made aware about upcharges on our meal. We received the bill and saw we were each charged an additional $3 to have chicken subbed and $0.75 for the egg (expected the egg up charge). That did not set well with us. We told our server who simply apologized, but didn't remove the charge or say he should've told us. Also, the sushi chef chatted with us a little and was very nice, but later he turned on his phone to listen to something online, which was making considerable noise that we could hear while we tried to visit. Tokio's late night happy hour special is genius! The ambience and customer service was immaculate. We got the: Takoyaki: generous amounts of octopus, great flavor and outside crisp, wish the batter was cooked a little longer White fish Tokio Sashimi: The flavor was overtaken by the tomato and half the fish we got was a bit mushy. Will not get again. Shu Mai: These were huge! The meat was so tender and we appreciated the side of wasabi. I came here on a whim since I was originally planning to go to Jinya Ramen bar at union station nearby but when the wait was close to an hour for party of 2, I wanted to look elsewhere and I'm glad I did ! Restaurant is 2 stories but not too big, has a cozy feel. I loved the decorate and made me feel like I was transported to Japan. Didn't have to wait long to get seat which was nice, there was a rush afterwards so people had to wait around 20-30 minutes or so. We got the shio ramen and the dynamite roll and the portions were perfect ! The broth of the ramen was flavorful and not too salty. The ramen was well cooked. Came into the restaurant and waited over 50 minutes for my order which was pre-paid for and ordered over 2 hours ago, which was said to be ready, but they haven't even started on it when I arrived. A restaurant that serves ramen, all day, couldn't pour my broth into a to-go bowl and package it up on time. Ridiculous. There was no one at the host booth the entire time. Calls rang. Some girl came up to ask me over and over again what name I'm here for. Watched 3 doordash drivers cancel and walk out. Watched multiple customers not get helped and walk out. And if you're bold enough to wait like me because you're non-confrontational, the place is so small and cramped there isn't even a place to sit and wait. When I finally got a little upset with the girl who has handed orders to 10 people who came in AFTER me and had to pay on the spot, she was very rude and just kept walking away. Had a wonderful experience here! Appetizers and small plates were amazing, we enjoyed the kushi katsu and the takoyaki which were extremely flavorful. We came during happy hour and enjoyed a selection of nigiri followed by ramen for main courses. The selection of ramen is great and all of the styles we ordered were delicious (miso, spicy shoyu, cremoso diablo). This place is top tier! Where to even begin: a moody, quaint ramen spot near Coors Field with beautiful wooden accents and Japanese lamp fixtures. Our server, G, was impeccable. Such a great experience here! Paid parking a short walk away. Our waitress was very friendly. The ambiance of the restaurant is very relaxing and pretty. Not a ton of indoor seating, but we were seated right away, even on the night of a Rockies game. My husband got the chicken teriyaki bowl and a spicy yellowtail hand roll and really enjoyed both! I got the salmon teriyaki bowl and a california hand roll (happy hour only $5 rolls!). The salmon teriyaki bowl was an awesome deal, it came with two large pieces of salmon! Came here with a friend on a Monday night. HAPPY HOUR! No reservation needed. It is located walking distance from most places downtown and the Coors field. They have bar seating a very cute upstairs that I would like to check out and a large table in the middle for a big group. They have something for everyone, ramen, sushi and cooked items. Everything was so fresh and delicious. It was pretty empty when we went so I would think that if it is more crowded it might take a while to get food. The staff were on top of it and attentive. Best sushi in the Denver area. I was craving cold sushi on a hot day today. I went and sat down at the sushi bar and noticed that it was hot in there too. I looked at the thermostat and it was 82°. It was very uncomfortable and I felt bad for the staff having to work in that temperature. I changed my order to To Go and ate it in my car. For apps - The shishito peppers had no flavor beyond themselves (no salt or seasoning), the miso cod was strange (it was sweet??). For entrees - The vegan ramen was noodles swimming in soy milk. I'm not sure how anyone eats it, it's so strange. The sushi I got was fine, nothing special. The mochi we got at the end was decent, I liked the mango flavor. The strawberry tasted a bit artificial. They didn't have green tea :( The ambience is cute and intimate, with dim lighting and decent seating arrangement. It was probably my (only) favorite part about this place. read more

If you read my other reviews you might notice that Im a ramen guy. The Denver Ramen scene is t one of the better ones, but in this town Tokio is definitely going to be one of my go tos. I ordered takeout, and they did a great job on that front. The soup carried home and assembled well and still worked great. Im absolutely certain that it would have been even better fresh right at the table and Im almost certainly going to. When I was in the shop the location and vibe really scratched an itch that I have for vibes when Im doing ramen. Its in like a kind of slot house thats very cozy and kind of simulates that vibe i get when I see ramen places in Japan on TV, at least as much as can be done in a town like Denver. Some of the best food in Denver! Last time I was here I had dinner with two of my friends. Even though we made a reservation, we still had to wait 25 minutes for our table which was the one downfall of the night. Food is so good. We had the gyoza which were crispy and delicious. Thank goodness for Tokio! My friends and I were hanging out, looking for a late-night ramen spot. Their kitchen closes at 10:15pm. We made it just in time because parking took FOREVER to find, with some party going on at a neighboring apartment complex. The poor servers here seemed exhausted and unresponsive, but they tried to be as friendly as possible. We started with Takoyaki and King Trumpet Mushrooms as appetizers. Don't forget to eat the bed of greens that comes beneath the mushrooms. Surprisingly flavorful! The Takoyaki was solid. Got the Cremoso Diablo as my ramen dish, which was creamy and spicy, just as promised. There's a bunch of other options I'd try next time... and potentially ask for it to be spicier. Great location (minus the parking situation) right next to downtown. Grateful for the extended dinner hours of Tokio. Not on my list of top ramen spots in Denver but will definitely be a to-go when it's later in the evening and I need to satisfy a craving! I've been to Tokio multiple times and it never disappoints. One of my favorite ramen places in the metro area. It's always hard for me to choose which flavor ramen I want, but notable favorites are the tonkotsu, miso, and of course the unique curry ramen. They do the marinated soft boiled egg perfectly. Their sushi is pretty solid as well. It's fairly small seating wise, but decor is still modern and cozy at the same time. Shoutout to the Orion Beer banner hanging on the balcony! Oh, Tokio. Someone recommended your fine establishment to me in 2019 when I asked for above average food spots open late. Why did I wait so long? Well there was a little thing called COVID, but I'm glad I finally made it in! I always forget about these businesses that are a stone's throw from Coors Field. Heed my advice and come this way. After a long day on my feet, I needed a place to plop down at a bar and indulge in silence. Tokio, open until 11pm except Sundays, was exactly what the doctor ordered. On the heels of an impending snowstorm, I was craving rich flavorful broth to soothe the soul. Now I know Tokio is known for their ramen and sushi, and I really expected to have ramen. But then I saw...I saw... Katsu. Curry. Rice. A highly, HIGHLY underrated dish in Japanese cuisine. And ironically enough it's one of my all time favorites. The combination of sauce, rice and panko crusted pork (or chicken depending on your mood) is one I believe most people should experience multiple times. As soon I laid eyes on it, I just had to order it. Tokio's rendition is meticulously crafted, deceiving large and jam packed with rich flavors. The curry sauce/broth consistency is chef's kiss. With a hint of heat on the back pallete, this will keep you going back for more. The velvety sauce coats the rice beautifully. I doubt you'd be disappointed. As for the Berkshire Pork (added bonus), it was pounded thin but not too thin, cooked to a tender center and crisp exterior. Consider this fella a happy camper after a dish, rather a meal, like this one. Now I came here around 10:20pm on a Wednesday night. However all the staff members were working hard, fulfilling takeout orders and bussing tables. I didn't require much attention sitting at the bar, as I find joy merely staring at the chaos of the kitchen. I would 100% eat this Katsu Curry again. If you're gonna stop taking orders before your posted hours, maybe turn off your online ordering. Placed an order and waited for nothing well over an hour only to call the restaurant and find out they weren't making the order. I could've ordered from some place else but they didn't think to cancel they order so I could get my money back so i wasted all that time thinking it would eventually get delivered. Had ordered delivery from here before and tell me why they sent hard ahh noodles with no broth when I ordered the curry ramen? Literally no broth at all just some stale, hard noodles. For how overpriced it is, you would think they'd double check orders at least. read more

We ordered a variety of pupus (appetizers) and drinks - Black cod (miso marinated), whole squid, grilled mackerel, tuna tataki sashimi, with a great a variety of sake and Japanese beer (surprised that they carry Orion (beer from Okinawa).
