Pastries are a very tough thing to master, especially those that will carry a shelf life. However, Uncle Chuang's definitely got it down. This established carries a variety of fresh pastries that are each unique and delicious. Although they are packaged, they are definitely made fresh. I had a chance to try their chocolate filled croissant which goes extremely well with a black coffee. Pro Tip: Heat the croissant for about 7-10 Seconds to allow the chocolate to become soft. Staff were very nice, made recommendations, and did not rush us out. No wait time was experienced. read more

I really love Uncle Chuang's. We have gone to a different place similar to Uncle Chuang's but they never gave us as much meat as Uncle Chuang's does. I have always grown up eating pork sung and going to bakeries like this, but when I moved to go to school at UCR, I decided to introduce my boyfriend to these new snack options he can have. I introduced him to the bbq pork bun first and he absolutely loved it and then I slowly started having him try the pork sung bun. I had him try the pork sung roll with green onions and mayonnaise and to my surprise, he told me that it had become his favorite bread. Now, every time we go to the movies or just pass by, we always buy a couple of buns to go so that he can have as a snack the next day or as breakfast before work. read more

Ordered a strawberries and cream sheet cake and cream puffs/fruit tart mix packs for my mom's 80th birthday. All I wanted was a Happy Birthday Mom written on the cake. When we opened the box to serve, we all noticed that the writing on the cake was terrible! Capital letters in the middle of a word and really sloppy!! It looks like a child's writing. (See photo) It was just a huge disappointment. The sponge cake was not as light as usual either. It was like a boxed yellow cake mix. Very dense. The cream puffs and fruit tarts were good though, but the cake... ugh. We always get birthday and holiday cakes here and never have been disappointed, but today, wow. I love the fluffy cake slices and my fiancé really likes the chocolate filled croissants but my dad and I were not fond at all of the strawberry croissants - there was almost no strawberry inside and it was all around just quite dry. I also tried these cookie sandwiches with chocolate filling, those were super good. We also tried their BBQ chicken Buns which feel like they would have tasted better if we had eaten them sooner so maybe that was on us. The free tea I have gotten twice now from each visit was also pretty good. read more

I love this place. I recently visited Riverside with my girlfriend, and she showed me this place. It's a great value if you are a college student at UCR. Everything is affordable, and they have spam Musubi. If you also purchase more than $15 dollars worth of baked goods, you get a free smoothie. And its good!! Listen. I just walked out of the stor and I'm eating this Chicken Sandwich as I type. It I soooooo good! Even though it's wrapped in plastic everything is fresh. The chicken is juicy, the bread is soft, and there are cucumbers to add more freshness and flavor. Delightful. They use shredded pork *sigh* This time I ordered a bunch of desserts. I got a tiramisu, two types of cheesecake, a coconut filed bread, dan tat, egg pudding and something else I can't recall. I really enjoyed everything I ordered (except for the dan tat) it was all pretty good. The desert wasn't too sweet, it had just the right amount of flavoring.
