[UMe] Popcorn Chicken $11.30 after tax and "service charge"
Victor L.

My 8pm Visit (4 stars) Initially when I got my popcorn chicken snack order I was like where's the basil? I found shrunk basil at the bottom. I wish they'd put more just so it balances all of that fried goodness. I had to wait about 10 minutes and it came out piping hot. The popcorn chicken is standard. I was craving Shihlin but they closed. I'd say this is a good second place to Shihlin. Ume's kiosk ordering system is quite intuitive. The screen has big buttons that are easy to tap. The pink decor and cutesy Asian music gives this place an anime ambience. My wife's 9:30pm visit (-3 stars) She ordered 3 drinks - sticky rice yogurt, mango coconut twilight and brown sugar boba fresh milk. It took 40 mins for her to get the drinks. On the screen, her number is supposedly next but the guy managing the drinks keeps skipping her number and gave drinks to others behind her. She asked him the status and he said he's waiting for 1 more drink. She stood there watching and she saw him giving that drink to another person who ordered way after her. She asked again where's her drinks and the guy looks confused. He asked the other girl who's making the drink and she said she already made it. Which means he gave the drink to another customer. The guy who's managing the drinks is slow, inefficient and confused. Either he's not trained properly which is caused by the poor management of the owner or the guy is just not the right fit for the job. After my wife got her drinks, she asked about the free bunny (if you spend over $20), and the guy told her it's sold out. My wife was very upset because if they run out, they should not put a note saying "if you order above $20, you get a free nice-scented bunny". Thats misleading and false advisement. She ordered extra drink, hoping to get the free bunny for the kids. If it's already run out, they should remove the note and not mislead customers. This made her more upset after waiting 40 mins for her drinks! He didn't even offer anything for the poor customer service. Meanwhile, I'm in the car asking her what's taking so long. The drinks are good, consistent with other locations but this location has poor management overall! False advertising and 40 mins for 3 drinks are unacceptable! Normally, I'd take photos of my purchases but I'm too upset to even look at these drinks.

[UMe] Guava Strawberry Yogurt Slushie 芭乐莓莓酸奶

I've been coming here a few times and I can say their regular milk tea is good but their fruit drinks are better. I had their new guava drink that just released and I drank it in 30 minutes. The oat popping boba matches well with the texture of the drink and the drink itself has good guava flavor.

Came in after dinner for a sweet treat. Store is all pink with cute characters and merchandise. Order via kiosk and drinks came out shortly. They had samples outside the store and limited seating inside. I got 3 milk teas with different toppings. The milk tea was average and wasn't too sweet. The purple rice had good texture and wasn't too hard. The boba wasn't good. A bit tough in the center and soggy outside. The pudding was good. Average milk teas place with nice decor. Would comeback to try their popcorn chicken.

My review is based off how I paying for the discounted price and not the full price. Check my profile for how to get $2 boba I dare to say the Jasmine tea better than Molly

Packaging!

Love this spot. Customers service was good! I love the packaging! They do such a great job and fairly priced!

This place has really good snacks and drinks. I especially appreciate the fresh taro drinks they carry: a rarity. The only thing is that hot drinks are not really worth the effort; they come out lukewarm with cold ingredients. Service is fast and accurate. And the ambiance is mostly geared for takeout

On my list to try...

I walked in to explore the shop. Kiosk ordering and there is a Mega fruit tea on the menu that is on my list to try next time. If you put the word Mega in front of it, I want to try. Cute space decked out in fun shades. Indoors seating. Please come and create your own adventure.

A fun gamified experience to tea! On 9pm on a Saturday night, Ume tea was absolutely packed, much to my surprise. Being in the heart of Milpitas does have its benefits I suppose ;). There are two kiosks to order from. The menu selection is pretty large, so it may take a while to wait for others to place their order (talk about option paralysis!). There are 3-4 tables to sit at -- all full on Saturday night -- and some bench seating by the wall. The store is super bright so definitely keeps you awake. I ordered the grape tea with green tea jelly, with the special stuffed animal. Because it was so crowded, it took 20+ minutes to get my drink, which is honestly pretty long considering I expected to just grab and go. The excitement of opening my keychain really eased the wait time though -- added a cute graduation bear to my collection. The tea itself is pretty average -- good sweetness level and can taste the tea, but nothing to rave about. The texture of the green tea jelly was great and paired surprisingly well with the tea. I'd definitely take my friends to Ume for the cute plushy unboxing experience but would probably not wait too long in line if I was only getting the drinks. As one of the only stores open late though, I think it's a good option if you're craving late night tea.

I've been coming here for a bit now with my coworkers. We usually place a large order online about 14 drinks and they always get our order correctly. Everyone likes their drinks and my go-to is their Passion fruit blast drink. They also give you cute bags to carry your drinks in, not sure if there is a minimum order but we get them every time. I recommend their business!

Burnt unagi

The thing is I do like this place it's convenient and decent taste. Just unhappy about what I received this time. I came to get unagi bento and the thing is I'm only disappointed in today's quality and service. I didn't like that they tried to cover it up .. if they just told me "hey we accidentally burnt this one we will be taking a bit longer to make the bento" that would have been nice. But no. They did a poor job in not only trying to cover up the fact that my unagi was completely burnt and inedible but they decided to not inform me and did not remake the order. I didn't know until I got home. I did notice "why is the unagi upside down?" And discovered it was completely inedible. $19 btw ... horrible.

My cute prize

One of my favorite boba places! Cute little tea spot, perfect for either ordering to go or if you get lucky, there's a handful of tables to sit, sip, snack and yap! Ordering is easy you can either go to the front or order from a kiosk. The teas are tasty and I love upgrading to the bunny surprise cup to see what cute prize I get. Today I got a strawberry matcha milk tea and it was so fresh and tasty! The boba here is also the best, perfectly chewy. I also loved the popcorn chicken, for the flavor we picked sour plum powder, with spice. It was the perfect amount of sweet and sour! Definitely my favorite coating to compliment the crispy little chicken bites. I love how everything tastes so fresh here!

I tried UME Tea many times since the last few years and really enjoyed it. The sticky rice tea with yogurt is delicious smooth, comforting, and full of flavor, perfect for the holiday season. The service always is friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was clean, cozy, and relaxing. Definitely a place I'd recommend. PLUS +, there are many shops around to enjoy food spots, massage places, games, and stores so it feels like a complete area to spend time. Definitely recommend. Happy new year

How do you use the point system on their website? It seems to never have the option to redeem rewards.

Personally I'm not sure. I just sign up for all points systems at all boba shops. Unfortunately, only a couple actually gets back to me and I redeem them. You'll get a better response from the staff.

The shop is clean and stylish, and the drinks come in reusable glasses and mugs, rather than defaulting to plastic cups. There is not a dedicated parking lot (it is stationed beside an apartment complex), but there is some street parking available in easy walking distance. The servers are friendly and quick, and there is a wide but not overwhelming variety of drink (mostly coffee/espresso and some matcha) and food (cake slices, waffles, and dessert toasts) options available. You can also preorder whole cakes from them. The coffee is decent, but I find that $7 is a little steep for a latte that doesn't really stand out. I can sort of justify it by thinking that I'm also paying for the lovely space to work as well. The desserts are also a bit pricy, at around $10 per piece (and the pieces aren't huge). Overall, I had a pleasant experience here and would absolutely recommend it if you're looking for a place to sit down for a while to read, study, or relax, despite the somewhat pricy menu.

I opted for ice on the side because I wasn't having my che until later, but unfortunately the ice froze into one big chunk in my freezer so I might just have them put the ice in the drink next time. I think price might be the only sticking point. The che is about 50% more expensive than Bambu or other Vietnamese dessert spots. I can absolutely see why their products are more expensive and totally think the quality of their dessert drinks surpass Bambu or similar dessert cafes. At the same time I have to acknowledge that I can order a che ba mau at another dessert spot and have my craving satisfied for less money. For me, this makes Co Ba a special treat that I wouldn't be able to have all the time.
