Scouring the shelves at my local super market I came across some novelty bars that seemed intriguing and with a different taste palate. They were also marked down a percentage. Enter EatMezcla's South of the border variations on traditional energy bars. The ones I bought were banana and another (memorable) which was 'Mexican Hot Chocolate'. At first I thought it was bonkers to sell athletes a spicier energy bar. After I taste tested them though, they were actually pretty delectable! Less dense, less chewy and fattening than traditional energy bars. The consistency of these energy bars (which can be found in your super market sports isles) is a cross between a rice crispy treat and then covered in (very sweet) light chocolate ganache and some spices. I realized that these bars may not be so well suited for sports - as they are spicy to the mouth and could give indigestion while outdoors during intense exercise - but are very delicious either as a mid afternoon snack with lots of flavor or as an amuse buche of sorts in-between meals or meal courses to cleanse your palate. Either way it was fun to rummage for new snacks and experiment with some 'Chili Pepper & Quinoa' chocolate covered energy bars. They are also more low calorie than other variants that are sold like Clif and Gatorade. All in all, an off-beat energy source that snaps and crackles with some Chili heat and fire! The service was good. It's a wireless store but when you go inside of the store, you see the guy behind the counter and next to the counter are all of the ingredients to make the paan. The guy gave me 2 paan from the pre-made paan pile. I like that the paan is individually wrapped in foil already. Each paan was $2. It's a small store. It's more of get what you want and go.
