Service was terrible. Makes you feel like you are bothering them by showing up. Food is only mediocre. I was not expecting a fabulous meal, but for waiting as long as I did, this really disappointed. On top of that, the waitress spilled a gin drink she was delivering to another patron and some splashed on me, so now I smelled of alcohol. These things can happen, but no apology. Made the mistake of choosing this location without researching or looking at other yelp reviews. OVERVIEW: Umaizushi is located within the airport terminal, and is one of the few asian restaurants within the airport. This happened to be easy to get to, so our group opted to try it. With much regret after the fact. SERVICE: Service was very slow. It was challenging to find or flag down a server to take our order, refill a drink, or get our check at the end. MENU: The selection was... fair. They were out of several different things, so several of our group had to shift gears and pick something else. The menu makes it sound appealing, but the presentation and flavors were not there. FOOD: I got edamame to start - half the beans were cold, and the other half were overcooked and mushy. I also got a teriyaki chicken bowl - this was basically chicken tenders in sweet and sour sauce, over a bed of overcooked, mushy rice - not teriyaki at all, and barely asian. A friend got a sushi roll - same mushy rice, poorly assembled. RECOMMENDATION: I do not recommend. Try elsewhere. They should change the menu to include that the salmon is all smoked salmon rather than raw as people seeing salmon on a sushi menu would default to raw. The restaurant was not busy, yet after sitting at the bar and repeatedly attempting to make eye contact, I was completely ignored and never offered service. After several minutes, I left. Anyhoo, the bowl came with all this sauce all over the salmon amd tuna. Like it was drowning in it, and it looked like it was gonna be unflavored. The rice was in the middle and everything was cut big. The avocado was in large slices the carrots, and some white veg that I don't know what it was, and the tuna and salmon didn't seem to be sushi cut, just large chunks which some of the salmon still had the dark part from the skin. The seaweed was dark looking, and it just looked like more than likely an American made it. When I started to eat it, the said was a bit much, could have just used a drizzle across the top. It really looked plain and uneventful and tasted pretty much that way. I did eat the rice which was good with the seaweed and a little of the sauce. It wasn't like terrible it was tolerable..‍ Once I finished much of the salmon and tuna was left. I started to feel a bit nauseated after, like it wasn't settling well in my stomach.. So when I got on my flight I got a ginger ale. I don't think ill be sick, but my insides are just letting me know they didn't enjoy it.. PRICE: My dish was $18 and some change basically $21 after tax. Was it worth it. Absolutely not! I would not reccomend eating here if you are an avid sushi eater, this place would be an insult. This business hasn't even been claimed, that says a lot right there. Ownere probably don't care b/c it's inside an airport, so they gonna get buisness regardless and who travels enough to come to this place over and over to make this would be a raving spot. One of the only asian food you can get at the airport so really you cant ask much. The location is cute and fun music. The service was great especially when she s all by herself, greeting and bringing out the food and drinks. I had the terriyaki chicken rice bowl, they don't have ramen or anything soup or hot drinks. For airport food, it was perfectly fine. Had a short layover and needed to eat something fairly quick but since I was flying coast to coast I also didn't want anything too heavy or greasy. This place was busy and service was slow but understandable. Luckily my order was not complicated and didn't take too long to get so could make it to my gate for boarding. The sushi was fine. Definitely not the best I've ever had but I've also had worse. Wish they had more options or were solid with the few options they had. We got to the airport 3-4 hours early on Monday (March 8th), we thought the airport would be busy because of All-Star weekend. They seemed a bit busy, which I can understand. I stood by a dirty table to claim a spot for when someone had time to clean off the table. A gentleman at work at the bar asked me to go stand and wait to be seated. I gathered my items and stood at the entrance as a line started to form. We all waited lol the waitresses moved around doing little tasks and talking to each other. Finally, a woman who hadn't been out on the floor tells all of us that they have no food anymore only drinks... this seemed suspicious since there were two women behind the sushi bar area where they make the food and there were people finishing up their food getting ready to leave.
