Was invited here for a fancy dinner to catch up with some friends. It's located in the Denver Union Station, which already is fancier and not as disgusting as the one in Los Angeles. My friends were able to find parking and with a reservation things went swimmingly well. There's bar area seating here and also upstairs seating. The aesthetic is pretty sophisticated and fancy feeling. Great if you wanna swoon a potential SO, I'm sure. Giant mural, European artwork on the walls, low lights, you get the drift. Service was attentive and made sure all of our questions were answered and needs were met, including constant water refills since we visited in the summer. For our dinner we got the: 1) Trio de Jamón: -This comes with 3 different types of Spanish cured hams: Fermin Jamón Serrano, aged 2 years, Jamón Paleta, aged 3 years, and Cinco Jotas Jamón Ibérico de Bellota, acorn fed, aged 4 years. -When I see Iberico, I can only think of Ton Toko Ton lol. -Each different piece of ham has a different texture, softness, melt in your mouth goodness as well as different salty and savory flavors. -The aged 4 years one definitely has a "higher quality" texture and flavor, but a lot of us at our table really liked the aged 3 years one. Whatever that jamon was fed, cured, seasoned with, etc. made the flavor very "whole" and rich. But all were pretty good to be honest. -If you're a charcuterie enjoyer and just like the meats, this is a must. 2) Shishito Peppers: -I've had this as an appetizer at other restaurants before and it's always a solid pick. -It's blistered shishito peppers with some crunchy feta spice balls? Looks like the forbidden boba you get when you open new packaged items, but it adds a nice pop of texture to the dish 3) Gambas al ajillo: -An appetizer of head on shrimps drenched in Calabrian chili garlic butter and lime parsley. -Can't go wrong with shrimp, especially with the richness of garlic butter and the kick from the lime parsley. Shrimp was a bit dry, but the sauce made up for it overall. 4) Moorish Spiced Ribs: -Comes with Basque chilies and olive oil. -I've only ever really eaten ribs aside from American BBQ or in some form of Asian soup, so this was nice. Very seasoned. Not exactly fall off the bone, but overall pretty good. 5) Trucha Navarra: -Pan seared trout with jamon serrano, artichokes, tomato, and spinach tonnato. -Don't think I've ever had ham on fish before this night, but it's a nice mix of textures and flavor with the saltiness of the thin ham and the moist fluffiness of the fish. Veggies are seasoned well and cooked to perfection. 6) Bistec: -This is a hanger steak ala plancha, olive butter sauce and piquillo peppers. -Friend got this medium rare and it was quite tender and juicy. Lots of sauce to add a little kick to the ocean of umami flavor. Decent steak. My friends got some alcoholic drinks and enjoyed it. As a non alchies, I just sipped on water throughout the night. It seems that the menu offerings rotate and change up as well for some of the main course dishes, so keep that in mind. Definitely over ordered as we had leftovers after (this was for 5 adults). Not a place I'd go to as my usual self, but neat to experience it for the first time.

Honestly the best food in the city! Staying at the hotel for 3 nights and came back every night it was that good. The Brussels are great, the burger is excellent and the ribs are the best ribs I've ever had! Great bar seating if you're alone and a nice outdoor patio! I'll be back.

When you can get your gin and tonic made with Ke No Bi gin there is little doubt you are where you need to be. The sangria was spot on with little to no sweetness but balanced fruit taste. Excellent croquettes and a delicious corn toast paired beautifully for a light lunch

Fantastic food. Loved the fried deviled eggs and toast with Brie. Definitely recommend the board of meats, cheeses, nuts, and toast. The options from Spain are great! We've traveled to Spain and enjoyed the imberico ham and they had it as an option for our meat board. The drinks were good and so were the churros, which we'd recommend with the ice cream. It was in the train station, but they did good to give the place an upscale feel in spite of that. Our server was also very knowledgeable. Answered our questions confidently and could even speak to specific ingredient questions which impressed me. We will be back when we visit Denver again!

Absolutely great food!!! My husband and i were just walking around enjoying our day and i started to get in a snack mood. We popped our heads in here and to our very happy surprise, it was happy hour! $7 glasses of wine (he got the red and i got the rose) and it was really great for house wine. We personally love tapas so we picked 3 and LOVED all of them! My favorite was the bacon wrapped date. Highly recommend them. You won't be disappointed!! We sat at the bar and it was really cool! The wall of drinks was really cool and i didn't even see the upstairs until we were leaving. I told him i want to sit there next time! Service was good, however we really didn't interact with them because we were in and out. I can't wait to come back and try the dinner!

Beautiful restaurant that we have read about in the New York Times & a James Beard winner. The restaurant is actually inside Denver Union Station with some tables outdoors. Ultreia is a modern-classic restaurant with a high-ceilinged room that resembles an art gallery, with wallpaper in the style of a landscape painting that depicts cows and pastures . The name means encouragement, to keep going reaching beyond and heading onward. Our waiter explained that the food is from a beautiful San Sebastián in Northern Spain. We perused the spring dinner menu starting with a delicious refreshing red sangria and sharing their board with olives, almonds, cheese, tomato, and chorizo, along with the crispy eggplant, sesame, honey. We shared an entrée with pan seared trout, Serrano ham, artichokes, tomatoes, spinach, and tonnato sauce. Our meal was exceptional, fresh, flavorful & very different from what I usually order and try.

We found this place by accident and now one of our favorite places. Our server was super nice and recommended the Chef's Feast which includes chef's choice of plates and 20% off any bottle of wine. It was the perfect amount of food and great way to spend the afternoon. Perfect pairing of salads, breads and proteins which we would have never been able to select for ourselves. Totally worth the $90 for 2 people.

    Pastel De Nata dessert.

The fifth and final stop of our Downtown Denver Food Tour brought us to Denver Union Station. Our guide pointed to where the restaurant is located, but we didn't even go in. We all sat in the seating area of the Station and the dessert Pastel De Nata was brought out to us on a tray. The dessert itself was okay, nothing special. By the way they looked I thought they would be really flaky. Not too sweet though with good texture. Interesting that the name of this pastel is "de nada" as in "from nothing". Nuns made these from nothing when monks kept the egg yolk for themselves and gave them the egg whites. So these nuns were able to make delicious pastries "from nothing". Just a tidbit our guide shared with us.

I found this place on Yelp because my friend and I just had a trip to Portugal and talked about tapas and patatas bravas. We made a reservation right before a concert we were going to. We took the train and since we have to transfer at Union Station - this was perfect. We were seated upstairs (had the option to also sit outside). Our server was so nice and also informative with questions we had about the menu since we needed some translations. He made recommendations as well. I loved the crab salad toast that I got. There was also a plate that came with bread, olives, chorizo, manchego cheese, and this tomato jam. It was incredible! Great flavors when you mix them all together. We throughly enjoyed and it between the two of us - had plenty to eat. I can't wait to go back and try more items. Love the convenience of the place also!

    Watermelon gazpacho
    J Warren R.

We had a 5-course tasting menu of very fine Spanish and Portuguese tapas and menu items. We started with a salt cod fritter, that was fried perfectly. The watermelon gazpacho was interesting, refreshing with fresh melons, cantaloupe and cucumber. The halibut seafood soup was hearty and tasty yet served at room temperature. The duck confit with fresh mushrooms was also tasty, and served warm. All would have been better if served a little warmer. Dessert was a nice mascarpone tarte. Service was okay. Wine selection focuses on Spanish and Portuguese selections and is quite reasonably priced by the glass or bottle. Located in Union Station, Ultreia is a relatively small restaurant, so reservations are recommended. Bar looks phenomenal with some interesting hand-crafted cocktails on that menu.

    Calamari
    Mariel T.

Decent happy hour stop if you're near union station, but it left a bit to be desired. The patatas bravas were okay, the happy hour calamari was good enough, and the trout.. well.. I won't be getting that again.

    Soroosh P.

Solid upscale tapas spot, with a decent happy hour. Everything was good with the exception of the pork ribs. Bacon wrapped dates were excellent, I liked the anchovy tapas as well. The service was patient and friendly. Definitely a cool spot to eat and get drinks with colleagues. Prices were fair for an upscale eatery; it's located in union station which in my opinion was a very neat repositioning of an old train station. One drawback is that the restaurant shares the bathroom with the station as a whole. The churros are also quite good.

    Flatbread
    Laureen O.

This has been on our list to try and finally got here. We had a nice experience. Server, Shelby was excellent as he made good recommendations. My husband is gluten sensitive so we were able to order well. The ribs, trout and flatbread were all tasty. There are other items on the menu that are interesting and might get us back here.

The restaurant is modern, sleek, open, and well lit. The service is out of this world. Everyone is falling over themselves to help you, though not in a gross way. I had two pastas (you could have either a full pasta dish or a half, and I chose to have two halves). I had the goat cheese gnudi (lamb ragu, fennel pollen, pecorino). Half portion was 14, whole 28. It was rich, meaty, and delish. I also had the mushroom pappardelle (pickled pearl onion, crispy maitake, sheep ricotta, dill). Half 18, full 29. Rich, filling, luxurious. My friend had the duck, which she loved. She can't eat red meat and it was prepared in such a way it almost made her feel like she was eating red meat again. My friend's husband had the scallops as an app (we tasted them too, they were decadent). Then he had the paella, again, a crowd pleaser. We ate every bite of all of it. We had several complex, amazing cocktails. Not the run of the mill. Ingredients that are more unique than the average spot for sure. A lot of gin and absinthe. We had one called Ecto cooler (rum, lychee, kiwi coriander shrub) that we all enjoyed immensely. It's not cheap. For all three of us, with our decadent entrees and multiple alcoholic drinks, as well as dessert and apps, was around 450 with the appropriate tip (I did tip heavy because the service was so spectacular). But I also appreciate this restaurant pays a living wage and charges a small uncharge to allow for this. Amazing experience. And on a pedestrian walkway and near clocktower cabaret, so you can have a great evening.

First drinks, then specials and a handful of tapas while our last guest arrived. Followed by a full on tapas conquest to try every single dish (without seafood). Our waters were consistently topped off. It was a lot! We were a handful! Our waiter (Christian S) knew exactly what to do. Exactly what drinks to recommend. Exactly which tapas and desserts to recommend. Exactly what to say to make us laugh. He rounded out the experience to ensure it was a perfect evening! Thank you Christian! After a heavy lunch, the prospect of Spanish tapas was exactly what I needed--light, social, and full of variety. The Experience Since my friends are regulars, I let them take the reins on ordering. We started with sangria for the table, which set a relaxed, celebratory tone for the evening. The tapas that followed were all impeccably sized and flavorful. The Standout: I was pleasantly surprised by the dates. It's a dish I might not ordinarily choose myself, but it ended up being a highlight of the meal. The Vibe: The atmosphere is "buzzing" in the best way possible. It has an inviting layout with a mix of bar seating, tables, and cozy booths that create a "friends among friends" energy. The "Speakeasy" Aesthetic What really sets this place apart is the ambiance. It has a distinct speakeasy feel that makes you feel as though you've stepped back in time. Additionally, our server, Ryan C. went above and beyond and sat down with us to accomodate dietary restrictions for my brother in law and was very thorough with what he could offer for alternative food options. His quality of service was exceptional and was greatly appreciated. Sitting on the patio was a vibe as well and is an excellent place to grab drinks. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great spot in Five Points.

After reading other reviews and checking out photos beforehand, I knew the Colorado lamb was a must-order. It's not something I usually go for, but it ended up being my favorite dish of the night. Absolutely worth the hype. We also ordered the birria short rib and hickory smoked picanha, and both were solid choices. The shrimp and corn grits were amazing, and I really loved the aged cheddar mac and cheese. Other dishes like the chickpea croquettes and the chili relleno were also pretty good and rounded out the meal nicely. The wait staff was fantastic. Super friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The restaurant itself has a cool, lively vibe. The only minor downside was that the outdoor heaters were a bit too hot, but that's a very small nitpick. Overall, an easy 5 out of 5 stars. Great food, great service, and a place I'd happily come back to.

Great Rooftop Lounge for Date Night and Socializing…read more I visited 54thirty Rooftop Lounge for a date night and had a great experience. When we arrived, most of the covered seating and heater areas were already taken, so we ended up sitting in one of the uncovered sections. As it turned out, that was a blessing because the views were amazing. From where we were seated, we had beautiful views of downtown Denver and the surrounding cityscape. Between the skyline, lights, and rooftop atmosphere, it created a memorable evening. What impressed me most was the ambiance. The lounge had a lively but relaxed energy, and people were friendly and approachable. It felt like the kind of place where you could enjoy a date, meet new people, network, or simply unwind with friends over drinks and conversation. My date ordered food, but I honestly don't remember everything he had. I wasn't particularly impressed with the food, but since this is a rooftop lounge, the atmosphere was really the star of the show for me. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and would return for the views, the social atmosphere, the drinks, and the opportunity to meet interesting people. Perfect for: Date nights, networking, socializing, drinks with friends, and enjoying Denver's skyline.
