Yes! Finally made it. COOOOKKKIIIEESSS!! So, soft and delicious, not too sweet, nice ube taste. At first bite, it reminded me of manju, I guess sort of the same texture. Very delicious, great for omiyage! The little cheesecake cups are yummy, too and so easy to just pop in your mouth. Located next to Kam Bakery in Kalihi in City Square. If you don't know where that is, you haven't lived! I will be back to bring to the office or my next trip to the mainland...maybe even mail some as gifts. read more

Walking around Honolulu, we saw a lot of desserts that were made with Ube, a purple sweet potato. Curious as to what it may taste like, we searched for the best Ube desserts in town and found @ubae_hawaii. First up was their Ube Crinkle Cookie, which features a soft and chewy texture that complimented the Ube flavor really well. We also tried their Cheesecake tarts, and were delighted with its excellent shortbread crust. Purple foods isn't something you find very often, and we were glad to have been able to have some while visiting Honolulu! read more

Big fan of Ube so when I found out about UBAE I had to try it! The ube soft serve and crinkle cookies looked so good and I was told the cookies were the most popular item, so I got both. I have to say that I was UBEr disappointed in both items. I got the swirl buko pandan and ube flavor soft serve and I have to say it just tasted like sugar with strong coconut flavor I didn't taste ube at all. The cookies also just tasted like sugar (and are covered in it so that doesn't help) also didn't get any ube flavor since the sugariness was so overwhelming. I am now searching for something to get rid of the overpowering artificial coconut flavor and to kill the sweetness. read more

Let me start by saying I love this place!!! Service is quick and can't get any easy. Their cookie crinkles are to die for! Their tarts are perfectly made and proportioned. I can't wait to for my next visit to Hawaii, because this will be my first stop before checking into my hotel. This review is based on 1 visit. Walked in because my husband and son wanted to try it. I on the other hand is not a ube fan. When we walked in, the workers greeted us. I noticed that this place is super small. The girls showed us the popular items and we ended up getting the ube cheesecake and the ube tarts. I tried it and I liked the cheesecake but did't really care for the tarts. My son and husband loved it and ate it all though. read more

My first time in Hawaii I visited ubae becaise I heard they served ube. The desserts are AMAZING!!! I was able to take some cookies home as a gift and they were gone in minutes. My regret is that I didn't buy more. Definitely will visit this place every time I visit Hawaii. Cookies were my favorite but camt go wrong with the cheesecake tarts either. read more

My fiance and I found this little gem when we were on vacation in Waikiki. Since ube is my fiance's all-time favorite food, we knew we had to come! We purchased the ubae tarts and ube cheesecake, and even the mini cooler so that we could bring some back to California. The cheesecake was amazing!!! I wish we had bought more of it. We decided to bring the tarts back to California and try it then, but some of the ice we put in the cooler seeped into the tarts' container so by the time we landed in California, the tarts were all soggy. That was our fault though so we are not holding that against the store! We did manage to try just the ube part of the tarts (which is in the middle) that did not get soggy, and it was so good!!! I wish we had taken better care of those tarts on our flight home! The UBAE store also has some ube cookies, according to the pics I saw in yelp, but when we were there we did not see any so we totally forgot to ask about them- wish we tried those too though! If you love anything ube or if u want to try ube and happen to be in Oahu, i'd definitely recommend getting some from this store. read more

I was so excited because I love ube but....it didn't really taste like ube. I kinda felt like I was eating a (really good) normal cookie and cheesecake. For a bakery to specialize and only have really 2 types (the tart is just cheesecake with a different exterior) of ube goodies I expected it to really taste like ube. It should pack a punch! The ube flavor just wasn't there :( read more

Cute little Gem in the Kalihi Area! I love love love their stuff here! I think the idea of dairy free ube soft serve was brilliantly thought out!! Good job, Ubae! I also got the mini ube tarts, and the ube cheesecake with the Graham cracker bottom! Omg!! My tastebuds were having a blast!! Wish I would have tried their crinkle cookies, but I will definitely try them next time!! Come to Kalihi for some great ube treats! If you like Ube then this is your place. I wanted to try everything so that includes the Ube Tart, Ube Cookie, and Ube Cheesecake. I think I liked the cookie best, then tart, and last cheesecake. I'm not super crazy over Ube but wanted to try it. Thus, I wish they had other flavors of tarts like UBER does. Desserts were good, though. It's just my preference. read more

I visited on January 27, 2021 at 5pm and wasn't impressed with the customer service I received from one of two staff. I asked about the flavors in the glass refrigerator and one of the two girls was curt with me and seemed to be rushed in explaining to me the items I was curious about. I would have purchased more desserts but that girl with the long fake lashes seemed to not want to help me. The cashier was friendly and smiled, but the other girl needs customer service training. read more

Alright, well then, okay. So I got here at 1pm they were out of cookies. They did somehow manage to find one somewhere I don't know where they looked maybe over the rainbow but they did find one. It was decent, sweeter than I'd like and not well put together it was more bready. We also got the Ube ice cream, that was actually good and it was decently priced also. Sad thing was there was two of us and the reasoning for a photo with only 1 ice cream is because they ran out of ice cream for my cup.... sucks, so she got a mountain and I got a rock. They did make up for it by giving me a cheesecake though which was nice of them I appreciated that! The cheesecake wasn't bad if you're a big fan of thick creamy top layer. What disappointed me about the cheesecake is the really powdery bready cookie on bottom of the cheesecake. But overall decent place to go try. I still recommend it! read more

We went right as they were closing so they had already sold out of everything but I ended up getting the soft serve (which has a coconut flavor to it) and the individual cheesecake. I really wanted to try the crinkle cookie but they only had the package left and I didn't need that many. If you are an ube fanatic definitely stop by and check it out. Some people complain the prices are too high but these aren't cheap to make and we want to make sure they stick around so the prices don't bother me. Will definitely be back! I also like that it's not difficult to find parking. read more

I ordered through Uber eats to deliver to my work to give away as girl's day gifts to my coworkers. Orders 4 packs of the 4 pcs ube tarts. When the uber drive came he only had one pack of 4. He advised me to call the store and the person who answered said it was their mistake. If I can tell the uber driver to go back and pick up the rest. Uber driver can't go back because he had another delivery schedule. Person from the store hung up on me and tried calling back 5 times and nobody picked up my call. I left comments on their website and somebody responded to me that I should talk to Uber and even insinuated that how I am so sure that the driver didn't take it? I had to repeat several times to him that his employee admitted their mistake and told me to go to their store the following day to get a refund, But this guy who kept calling me and emailing me said that I have to go to Uber to get my refund. As a compromise I told him that just give me my order of 4 packages and I'll go to the store to pick them up and he said he'll only give me three because one was delivered yesterday. I told him I did not take what the Uber driver brought because it was not what I ordered. Too bad Ubae, I really like our stuff and is a regular customer I only went through Uber eats because I didn't have time to pick up because of work. Your people made a mistake and they admitted it but you insinuated that it was the Uber driver's fault and mine. I know I am only one customer but never again will I go to your store and if I have any friends who goes there I will tell them of what kind customer service you have and how you treat your customers. read more

Products are delicious! Tarts are unbelievable. "Regular" cookies are great. (Today's cookie was not) 2 star is for the service. I walked in and wasn't acknowledged by the 2 workers. Cookies were not properly labeled and I ordered 6 cookies with Coconut. My wife is allergic to coconut. I also ordered single cheesecake . We love this product. I was given a FROZEN single cheesecake. Why!!!! I almost broke my plastic spoon trying to eat it. Sorry the other girl on the weekdays is a great employee. read more

You should call ahead because yes, sometimes they do run out... especially the tarts. If you're not picky then take the chance... but I went like 30 mins to closing and only options was the cheesecake and cookies. Both did not disappoint though!

I wasn't a fan of black sesame but I would rave over this pastry!! We did have their Pineapple Almond Croissant, which was decent but if you had to prioritize, doubtlessly go for kouign amann. The Chocolate Chip cookie was okay to skip IMHO. We came back again another day for their pistachio and chocolate ones and they were just as mindblowing! If you loved milk coffee, I would recommend their latte as the cold brew could be tad acidic even with added milk. I got their Cold Brew with soy milk first time then Vanilla Latte the second time, and certainly loved the latter better. They did have some indoor and outdoor sit-down spaces but they're constantly occupied so you might need to wait awhile to get one.

While the steamed ones are great too, there are still other contenders for that. The baked ones truly have no rival though! There other pastries are great too like the custard buns and the custard tarts, although I recently tried their layered rice cake and while huge, they were a but underwhelming. I think that's because I remember the ones my dad used to bring home that had the super thin layers that you could peel off layer by layer and enjoy them for what seemed to be an eternity.

They offer a mix of sweet and savory pastries, and honestly, I haven't had a bad one yet. I don't have a single favorite because they've all been consistently good. In my opinion, they're best enjoyed the same day. They also offer seasonal and holiday pre-orders. Sandwich of the Day: The premade sandwiches start at 11am and are made with about 90% house-made ingredients, served on their focaccia. As someone who loves a good sandwich, this did not disappoint. We needed to call the servers for multiple times before our order was finally picked up and it took awhile before getting our food ready. Then we also weren't given the butter roll until we asked (deep frowned). Fortunately the Loco Moco made it up as it's so filling, the beef hamburg was juicy, and the gravy was well-seasoned with perfectly cooked sunny side up. The butter roll did earn it's spotlight being so fluffy and aromatic especially served warm and fresh!
