The food selection is very good and you can get your own selection of veggies off of the trays on the side. The pork, chicken, and garlic beef are also available on the side. You have to order the beef and lamb separately with the wait staff. This is much better than trying to have the kitchen staff guess how much of each item you want and getting it wrong. The sauces are also available. There are alot of choices, including sesame paste, fermented tofu, sesame oil, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, salt, sugar, green onions, and coriander. The interior of the restaurant is not as nice as the Burnaby location and overall feels less luxurious. The bathrooms were kind of sketchy. The female one had three stalls, one with a broken lock, one that was totally out of order, and a third one that was somewhat functional but had no handle to open the door from the outside. It was about 5pm when we got our table so...about 45 minutes of waiting from position #25 on the waitlist. I ordered the Vegan Tomato Broth. It was actually quite bland. Was not impressed with it. I will order the Vegan Mushroom broth next time. Aside from the bland tomato broth, everything else about our meal was awesome. Oh, apparently they have a Happy Hour, which I didn't know about previously. We arrived just in time to be the very last people who got to enjoy Happy Hour. We were given some free drinks with our meals, and the choices were Jasmine Green Tea or White Chocolate. Between the 3 of us we had 2 Jasmine Green Teas and 1 White Chocolate. On top of that we also ordered a Brown Sugar Fresh Milk and a Sakura Strawberry Sparkling drink. I was told that there would be boba poppers in my Sakura Strawberry Sparkling drink but actually the topping was some kind of chewy pearl or jelly or something. The deep fried foods are placed in a separate pot than your usual hotpot. The first time I came, I was delighted to see the hurricane potato in the deep fried section. But there was no seasoning to the potato whatsoever. The second time, I got Taiwanese chicken nuggets instead and the restaurant mentioned that in the short time between my two visits, they already adjusted the fried foods and they are now seasoned properly. The Taiwanese chicken nuggets tasted exactly like the ones you would get at a Taiwanese restaurant. Great side dish to my hot pot. The hot pot ingredients are very similar to the other locations. They were pretty busy on a Friday night, although we were able to get a table because some reservation didn't show up. Medium sized interior with mostly booth seating, and the entrance is narrower and expands to the back. It's a personal hotpot so each person gets their own stove and order their own soup base. Ordering is done via a tablet. They also have cooked dishes like skewers, fried mantou and other things on the menu in addition to the hotpot ingredients. Some of the items cost extra and are labeled with the cost. In the center, they have the sauce bar, desserts bar of mostly Chinese jellos and also an ingredients bar with things like spam and quail eggs. I got the satay broth and it was decent. Ingredients are served reasonably quickly. The quality of the meat is decent. The milk-marinated beef is actually soft, and the usual sliced ribeye, lamb shoulder and pork belly are fine. The cooked dishes are decent as well, as we tried their pork trotters, fried mussels, and lamb skewers. The selection for hotpot ingredient is as you'd expect for an AYCE place, but the cooked food selection is a bonus. Definitely stuffed myself and was a satisfying meal on a cold winter day.
