POD was delivered as scheduled. Everything stayed nice and dry, even shipping from Virginia to Hawaii. I'm giving 4 stars because on the receiving end there was no confirmation on U-PACK's website on drop off date or pick up date when completed (which there suppose to be) . Only a phone call saying " you will get your "POD" a week from now. POD's website was updated only after the final pickup. Looks like someone went in and updated after the empty POD was picked, which does me no good. read more

We had a fantastic experience with U-Pack moving. We rented a pod to move our son from Virginia to Utah. U-Pack was strongly recommended by a close friend. They came in with the lowest quote of all of the pod movers, making the move both economical and possible. The U-Pack team was amazing! Everyone was polite, professional and responsive. We paid a little extra for a guaranteed drop off date and it was perfect. The drop off was on city street -- pod fits in normal parking space so it was no hassle. The drivers were all super friendly and helpful. The pod was dropped off and picked up promptly on both ends, zero stress. Overall 11/10. read more

Moving is no fun, but we had a great experience with U-Pack! Hired them for a long-distance move from Virginia to Maine. Not only were they the only similar company (looking at you, Pods) to offer quotes online without making you call in and wait through a sales pitch, the quote they gave us was significantly cheaper than any competitor we researched. When we did call in to book the move, the guy on the other side of the phone was helpful and not pushy at all--unlike, again, Pods, who I hung up on halfway through a rude sales pitch. He made sure that we booked more than enough cube space for our house, while assuring us we would only get charged for the cubes we used. When the driver showed up to drop the cubes off, he was competent and helpful. He asked us exactly how to lay out the cubes in our (narrow, sloping) driveway and then dropped them exactly where we wanted. Since we ended up packing tighter than expected, we only had to pay for the two cubes we filled, instead of the three which we reserved and had in our driveway. Pickup and transit went smoothly and they delivered before the time estimate, and then picked up the empty cubes the next day. The only complaint I have is that the destination facility, in Portland Maine, failed to communicate in a frustrating way. The day before they dropped the cubes off, I called in to request a time estimate, since we were staying an hour away from the new house and would have to be over there to sign for the cubes. They said they could not provide an estimate at the time, but assured me a dispatcher would call 2 hours before drop-off so we would have time to be over there. The next day, I called in around mid-morning, having not heard anything, and reached a dispatcher who told me they still could not provide a time estimate, but promised once again that we would get two hours of notice. The next phone call I got, in the early afternoon, was from the driver, delivering the cubes, who wanted to let us know he was ten minutes out! Fortunately it was not a huge deal because my fiance was already at the house to get some stuff set up, but it could have been a big problem both for us and for U-Pack! I would certainly recommend the Portland facility does a better job at communication and follow-through in the future. Other than that, the experience was stellar! Moving always sucks and we had very low expectations for any company we deal with in the process, based on past experience. So it was real refreshing to deal with U-Pack who were almost entirely perfect! read more

My husband and I used U-Pack Moving to relocate across the country. The price and convenience were what made us choose U-Pack over competitors (PODS, U-Haul, Penske). We found the best way to pack was to make all possessions square (AKA, stackable in boxes and totes). It took some math and reconfiguring, but we fit everything into the U-Pack two containers. The service during .1) planning, delivery, pickup, and 2.) drop-off and pickup-on the other side was seamless. The drop-off/pickup drivers were highly competent, friendly and professional as were the telephone representatives who coordinated prior to the drivers. Would definitely use U-Pack again! read more

Every aspect from first contact to Upack container delivery, to pickup and transport and then delivery of container to new location was effortless, accurate, and higly responsive. Almost half what the pod company charges. Excellent through the whole process. read more

Based on a prior experience with PODS, I had low expectations. I contacted U-Pack because I refused to use PODS ever again. U-Pack was significantly less expensive and the service was excellent. The delivered exactly on time and my belongings were in great condition. The shipping container was just the right size. I will definitely use them in the future. read more

We moved coast to coast. As with any move, there were significant needs for flexibility. The staff at U-Pack were accessible and responsive. Each time I called was handled professionally, pleasant and successfully. I will definitely use them again. read more

This was the best possible moving experience! Everything was handled online to perfection. The pods arrived on time and they were quick to pick them up. I absolutely loved the fact that I could reserve two pods just in case I needed them, but was only charged for the one I did end up using. It was so helpful to know that I had options. My belongings arrived intact and undamaged. The guys on the forklift were incredible about placing the pods in the right places. Honestly it was the best possible moving experience for me! The only thing I would have wished for, I would have been a variety of pod sizes. But a great experience overall read more

U-Pack Moving - UPack Relo cubes - Movers Near Me - Manassas, Virginia

Great experience with U-Pack Trailers for our out of state move. They were helpful with all my questions and concerns. They did everything they said they would. Our stuff arrived on time and nothing was broken. The folks at both storage facilities in Virginia and South Carolina were friendly and helpful. A shout out to Terry and Roger! Thanks for making my move easy. read more

This is the second time we have used UPack and couldn't be happier. This is the way to go when you're paying out of pocket and don't have the corp relo money to go big. Box it yourself Load the truck with a friend or hire guys to move the heavy things The truck gets picked up and arrives when they say it will Unload the sucker and then call for pick up. It really doesn't get easier that that. Save huge money and feel secure knowing your things will be alright. Moving tips: Buy blankets and wrap your furniture. If you are loading the truck - pack the boxes tight and high. Get a 4 pack of bonding straps and strap the cargo every 5 feet or so. Reason: it will be in transit for a few days and with the bumps on the road things will bounce loose if not tied down. Furniture - if you don't want it rubbed on - use blankets and wrap tape around them or the shrink wrap stuff from Home Depot. Secure dining chairs and wrap with blankets or they will bounce lose and get rub marks. U-Pack is great if you know what to expect and know how to pack. read more

I had a great experience with the concept of U-Pack Moving company. They were informative over the phone, delivered on the scheduled day and time. You can track your pod just like you can track mailed packages so you know exactly where things are. My one star rating is due to the point that the U-pack delivery personnel coming from this terminal sexually assaulted me on the drop off day when he tried to kiss me, then sexually harassed me when my pod was picked up, in a way where it was so easy for him to ask me "can I kiss you on the lips for three minutes." I spoke up and called the 1-800 number after I physically left the location, and the local terminal manager did say the issue would be taken care of, though it is union, so I'm guessing just disciplinary actions. The follow up question the manager had for me was, "Were there any witnesses?" And to that, unfortunately there was not as I was moving out alone. With that being said, women, and men, protect yourself from people and companies that you allow to come to your residence and will know where you sleep every night. Have a witness/friend/bystander so you don't get questioned if it were true or not, as the manager did so. I hope this creep doesn't do this to anyone else, so just be careful as I'm sure he's still out there working for the company still. read more

Used them so that I didn't have to drive a moving truck myself (again) when moving back to Florida from Virginia (because people are jerks to trucks & larger vehicles in traffic). They made it very stress free, which is exactly what I wanted. They held my belongings until I found a place too & then made that easy too. The guys who deliver & pick up the units are amazing with their driving capabilities in the forklift. I moved to a historic area with narrow streets & was astounded at how he perfectly placed the units. Unsure if they're the cheapest, but certainly the best. read more

Yes, it was cheap and no, I didn't have to drive a U-haul truck across the state. But otherwise, this wasn't a great idea. Moving cube for a 1-bedroom apartment was TINY. Luckily I was already leaving behind my sofa, chair, bed frame, desk and entertainment center. If I hadn't been, there is no chance ANY of it would have fit. My movers said they see this all the time - one guy had to leave behind his entire living room because the "1 bedroom" cube wasn't big enough. I only took a mattress (no box spring), dresser, 2 nightstands and a dining table and chairs plus boxes and the cube was completely full. Be very careful when they tell you that a 1 bedroom cube will work. Next, you need to know that you can't schedule pick up until they actually drop it off - which is a big problem when you are the last drop off on a Friday afternoon and Monday has already filled up. I pushed and pushed and got a Monday pick up but it was a big hassle. The drop-off on the end is sketchy - you aren't really sure when it is going to come so scheduling movers is difficult. I ended up scheduling the move later than when the cube arrived so I could plan for movers - and even with that they wouldn't give me first thing delivery and instead I got a 4 hour window (9a-1p). At 10a I called to see when they were coming and they said they were on their way. At noon I called and they said they forgot to put my box on the truck and they would be out in 2 hours. I had a small fit and they got it to me by 1p but again, another big hassle. I relayed all of this to the company and they politely thanked me for my feedback. I'm positive they will do nothing with it since the right size cube would mean a more expensive quote and less booked trips. Moving is stressful enough without adding all of this to the mix. I wish I had just done the u-haul so I didn't have to depend on this company who clearly only cares about getting you to book the move, not making sure it actually goes well. read more

We used U-Pack for our move from Virginia to Utah and we couldn't be happier. From scheduling to receiving our stuff, everything went smoothly. Every time we had a question, customer service was always professional and very helpful. The price was excellent and our stuff got here even before they had estimated even with the weather being bad. Nothing was damaged. Originally we thought we were going to rent a U-Haul truck but we are so glad we used U-Pack instead. We didn't have to drive it and fuel is also included . The price that they give you is what you pay. In our case, it was even less because we didn't use the whole trailer so they lowered the price by about $1,000. I totally recommend U-Pack and will definitely use them again in the future. read more

I moved from NJ to VA only by myself, thanks to U-Pack door to door moving. It only takes two days in transit, faster than I've expected. Pros - Nice and helpful stuffs, quick response for request. Cons - ATTENTION!!! Use bundle and cargo net for your moving boxes, these boxes will flip over during transit if you put those boxes loose. Fortunately, nothings broken. I will choose U-Pack again if move in the future. read more

Great deal, professional and friendly drivers and customer service. I would use them again for a move. We moved 3 states away and everything was timely and arrived safe and sound! read more

Great experience from start to finish in my move from VA to CO. U-Pack maintained excellent communication throughout, quickly responding to my inquiries. Highly recommended as a cheap and efficient way to move. read more

We used U-Pack on a complicated move from Alberta, Canada to Alexandria, VA. We had a 28 foot trailer come to our place in Alberta, we used the first 5 feet of the trailer and the trailer went through customs and came to our front door about a week later. The staff that I spoke to on the phone was very professional. The drivers were professional. I could not say anything but wonderful things about them. It cost money, but there were a lot more expensive means of shipping. Fabulous experience. We used a local moving company to pack the truck in Calgary - they did a great job of loading and as a result the shipment did not move - we had the blankets and straps necessary to achieve a hassle free move. Great company. If I had money right now, I would probably buy stock! Good luck with your move. read more

This was my first experience with U-pack. They were prompt and helpful. I followed their recommendations. My goods were shipped and stored (for a monthly fee of $300/month). When it was time for delivery, my cubes were in the wrong location and they tried to charge me an additional $1200. I worked with the company because I was following their recommendations and the fee was waved. On delivery the wrong cube (note I had two and one was delivered... the wrong cube). The staff were very helpful and quickly came to remove the wrong cube, then found and delivered the correct 2 cubes. My belongings were in good shape, one had gotten wet. To their defense there had been much flooding and torrential rains in the area. No significant damage. All staff were polite, respectful and helpful throughout the process. Thank you read more

My husband and I recently moved from LA to Virginia and we used Upack for the second time. They were great about bringing the truck to the location on schedule and picking up the truck on schedule. They are easy to call and you get a person on the phone rather than an automated service. The only thing that is kind of a negative is that the terminals that the trucks are delivered to first before it comes to your home doesn't work on weekends so your truck will not be delivered on a weekend. Expect it to be a day or two behind due to weather or like i said..due to the fact they will not deliver on a weekend. Customer service is great as my husband and I were unable to open up our partitions as our furniture had moved and put pressure on the boards. We tried and tried to do it ourselves but we couldn't and we had no one to help us. So we called Upack and they forwarded us to the person closest to us in Virginia. The main guy actually came out himself with tools to open up the partitions. He was great and we truly appreciated his customer service and him helping us when he really didn't have to. We would have been stuck if it wasn't for the Upack customer service. I highly recommend them...just remember to give them a couple extra days in your planning that way you don't get frustrated when your truck gets stuck in bad weather and doesn't arrive on time. Overall...great company, very easy to use and affordable! In response to the previous review..Upack doesn't pack your stuff for you..if you want that Upack specifically states in the website that they can connect you with another moving company that packs it for you....Upack is strictly a freight system...the previous review should be for the packing service that they used. read more

I've used ABF to move twice now and while the first time was great this second time was really frustrating. The guys at the depot /terminal were great. I loaded my stuff there and needed to leave it stored in the trailer for a few weeks while I looked for an apartment at my destination. However, when I did finally find one and called up ABF UPack to get it moving, it took 6 days from when I called them to actually get it to leave the terminal there. As a result I had to spend those extra 6 days living in an apartment with absolutely nothing in it. I'd also like to warn people that unlike moving locally, using UPack it's very easy to unwittingly pack your stuff in such a way that it rubs in transit and suffers significant damage. I had a couch that got messed up the first time and several pieces of wood furniture (that were packed poorly by movers) that were damaged the second time. You really can't be too careful in how you pack your stuff. Besides those issues the prices are pretty good and your stuff does show up. Next time I might just go with a dedicated mover like Mayflower or something though so I can blame them if anything gets damaged in transit. read more

We arrived a little after our scheduled time to begin packing. The box was out there ready to load with furniture pads included and ready to go. It was clean and very low to be ground, easy! The cube seemed smaller than expected when we got there but surprisingly everything fit perfectly. Staff was helpful and polite, overall it was a great experience. The unit made it 4 days before the ETA, which was great. read more

I had to re-schedule my move 3 times due to closing dates changing. Everytime I called UPack they were accommodating and understanding. They offered great customer service and answered all of my questions. When my date arrived they promptly dropped off my Upack the night before. We loaded all of our items within a few hours. I called mid afternoon the next day to schedule a pick up and they arrived the same day. The truck drivers were great at getting as close to our residence as possible for an easy unload. We had the trailer for 3 days on the back end so we wouldn't feel rushed to move right in. We had minor damages from a lamp breaking but it was due to a bad pack job on our part. Otherwise, our items arrived in perfect condition! We will definetly be using Upack for our next move. Their prices were the best and customer service unmatched! Would definetly recommend Upack! read more

U-Pack was great from start to finish! They were more affordable than any other option for a 3,000 mile cross-country move from northern Virginia to western Washington. I did a quote online and then got a phone call from their central call center to get everything reserved. The customer service rep who worked with me was very detailed and clear on the terms, including that delivery was not guaranteed and could be anywhere from seven to nine business days, or longer if inclement weather was a factor. The Manassas dispatcher was pleasant on the phone. The men they sent out to drop off the trailer and then pick it up were both very personable and friendly. I will absolutely recommend U-Pack to anyone looking to do a long distance move. Our 27' trailer was completely full and only cost approximately $5,400 total, compared to the $1/lb. that United Van Lines quoted me - and we had 12,300 lbs in our trailer! U-Pack uses ABF's freight terminals and trucks, so it's not handled the same way as traditional moving companies or storage moving companies like U-Haul and PODS. Don't expect the same kind of model - if you leave your shipping containers or trailer at the terminal for any amount of time, keep in mind it's a freight terminal, not a climate-controlled consumer storage facility. If you use ABF's U-Pack service with the right expectations, you will not be disappointed. read more

I used a U-Pack relo-cube during a recent move from Seattle to Alexandria, VA. This move was on short notice and a shoestring budget. I had no problems fitting my one bedroom apartment into the cube, though I will say I do not have a lot of stuff, I brought a couch, platform bed and mattress, desk, end tables, coffee table, and all of my books, clothing, kitchen items etc... I also loved the cube tracking feature, which allowed me to check the location of my cube online each day while in transit. I was driving across the country at the same time, and the cube was beating me! I had it held at the Virginia location and scheduled a drop off day when I had moving help. The quote was consistent with final billing, pick up and drop off were easy to schedule. My cube arrived in very good shape with nothing broken. I'm really happy I used this service. For those new to using cubes, as I was, if you live in an urban area you will probably need to obtain permits to put the cube on the street for loading. This was discussed in the moving plan I received in my confirmation, but adds some extra expense, and for me the permit process was a bit stressful. read more

I had an excellent experience with U-Pack; great communication, very helpful. I moved from a fairly rural area to an even more rural area across the Country. U-Pack was great through the whole process. My actual move was facilitated by ABF trucking, which was also great to work with; trailer was delivered and picked up on time. The only caveat to this was unexpected - ABF didn't deliver to my area and so transferred my truck to a local company for delivery, which added an extra day to the schedule. When the truck arrived, it would not attempt my driveway (which is very steep), so we had to unload at the bottom and ferry everything up in pickup trucks. What a nightmare but we got it done. The truck driver was so nice he actually helped unload and wouldn't even let me give him a tip. Not one of my belongings was damaged, and all accounted for. The one essential thing we did was pack "high and tight." My friends said they felt like they were playing a giant game of Tetris, but we got everything packed all the way to the ceiling and very close to the divider wall. This kept my belongings from shifting and I'm sure helped prevent any damage. Would definitely use U-Pack again in the future! read more

This is our second great experience with a U-Pack Relo cube. As with our first experience, the customer service rep (Brett) was very helpful and able to provide all pricing info and schedule the service. The cube was delivered to our old home exactly when it was promised. The driver named LT was so courteous and informed. He placed the cube right where I asked, then went over proper opening and locking (you need to provide your own lock). He reminded me to call to schedule pickup, which I did immediately. He returned to pick up exactly as scheduled and said it is generally 5 to 7 business days until delivery (from Virginia to Florida). The cube arrived in Tampa 4 days later and I was called by U-Pack to schedule delivery. It was delivered the next morning as promised and again the very courteous driver placed exactly where we asked it to be. I called for pickup and the next day the truck returned and took the cube away. Our furniture and boxes arrived in excellent condition, not jostled from the long trip. We hired neighborhood teens to help up load the cube and unloaded ourselves. Total cost about $1,000 less than quote by local moving company. It's a great option when moving locally or long distance. read more

I couldn't shake anxiety throughout our move, even though Relocube/ U-pack employees did their best to respond to my concerns and reassure me. But from the initial salespeople, to the forklift/truck drivers, to the local dispatch centers -- everyone was patient, professional and helpful. We got our relocube on a Friday and had until Wednesday to get it all packed up (since weekends don't count). That worked well for us, so that we could take our time to go through things and only take what we really wanted. I do wish we had made sure to use boxes that are the same size so that they would stack most efficiently, but that's on us! When the cube arrived at our new home, I expected some of our belongings might have been thrown around and was prepared for some damage. But to my surprise - everything came out in good shape. Unloading was so easy, and we were able to have the cube removed the same day it was delivered. After all was said and done, it was a good experience. I would definitely use them again with confidence. read more

ARCBEST moved three 28' trailers from VA to FL. The logistics were very good because each person who delivered and removed each trailer was just super, very competent, and helpful, positioning the trailer in the driveway so I could load it and still have access to my garage for the car. So the men doing the heavy lifting were super. But I had difficulty with their back office. Double billing, using the wrong card and overdrawing my bank account after they were told NOT to use the debit card on file but my AMEX. It was a real mess. Good service but watch their back office systems. The lady, Gerry, at the storage area in FL was absolutely super and was of great support. She was really the best. read more

We were very tight on money and called numerous places (PODs, UHaul, Budget, Penske, etc) to get quotes on how to move our home from Virginia to California. The rest of the options were so expensive we considering just buying all new belongings. We called UPack as a last resort and were pleasantly surprised. Not only were they MUCH CHEAPER than all of the other options, their customer service was fast and easy. Everyone spoke English and was helpful and polite. Every time someone came to drop off or pick up the ReloCube they were incredibly personable and helpful. We will definitely be using UPack for all of our moving needs in the future. They were so easy and their customer service is top notch. We highly recommend this company! Also of note - we fit 2 x 1 BR apartments into one Relocube. They may look small but if you pack smart it's doable. Make sure to wrap everything in as much cardboard, styrofoam and shrink wrap as possible. Pack the cube as tightly as possible for best results when unpacking. read more

I recently moved from DC to Southern California. I decided to use Upack (trailer not drop off small containers) instead of PODs for several reasons. Upack trailer service (all metal trailer) drops off and you pay by the ft. The problem with PODs is that they are way smaller than a standard trailer made of plastic and don't allow add on space. I estimated I need a half trailer, I was way off, I needed all 25ft of trailer. Upack was pretty flexible on dropoff trailer dates and I took a solid week to pack. I also stored my trailer in cali two months while I looked for a house, I liked that it was locked in a metal trailer. Monthly storage was more that pods, I think $590 a month but you only have to pay storage fee on one container vs multiple pod containers. There custome service was very good as well. One tip, carefully pack your furniture and boxes tightly so there is little movement. I did a sloppy job and there was some light damage from falling boxes, etc... read more
