Has potential but my friends and colleagues in the offices surrounding it would rather drive to the mall for hh's rather than walk over to the Beirgarten. Like others have said the token system is annoying and does not translate well to such a small venue. Tokens work in large beer halls which this is not. Once you run out of tokens the system creates an extra step between you and the next beer which does not exist when you are able to open a tab. Everyone I have gone with just doesn't get that 3rd or 4th drink. The beer selection is great but once happy hours ends all drinks become 8 dollars which is on the high end when compared to other bar options in the area. The building turns into a sweat lodge in the summer and the basement has a pungent smell that pushes you back upstairs. A few ceiling fans would go a long way. Hope it works out and they owners are willing to try new things, the music and outdoor setting are appealing and it has a lot going for it. read more

Excited to have a place where you can just hang outside in the summer and just have good beer with your friends and enjoy the summer weather. We got there and there was this kid playing the guitar and piano, playing all your favorite covers, along with all the soccer games on tv inside the bar. Again it was a great time. Got to also talk to Nick Rodriguez, one of the mangers there. Showed my friends and myself great hospitality and can't forget about the bartender to, forgot his name. Think we kicked it with them for a while that night. If you are looking for a place to just enjoy the weather, beer and your friends company. Just recently moved to VA and took my family here after their advertising said it was a big beer hall which was had lots of games and also family friendly. I was immediately turned off when we enter and a "bouncer" type demands to see our Id's including my minor children and proceeded with marking with a permanent marker a large X on each of their hands. You could tell they were humiliated by the whole experience. Sausages and beer were fine but the place is hard to get to and if you're expecting a beer hall experience like you'd find in the beer halls of Germany, you're in for not such a great experience. What a cool spot in the middle of our ever-changing town/city/whatever it is now. One of the few places in Tysons where you can comfortably walk in with flip flops and grab an ice cold German beer. I wasn't very fond of the token idea at first, but I've decided to buy extra tokens when I do need to or just come when it's slow to get tokens. All the tokens are $8. That way, when I come for happy hour or when it's busy, I don't have to deal with the lines. Instead, I can just go straight to the bar and order a drink and to the kitchen for my food. The beers are good here, food is decent bar food. Don't buy the beer cheese fries, they a) taste like cheese whiz on fries and b) cost the same as the sausage + fries platter/wings/everything else. Fun place! Large space & great selection of beers! The staff were friendly and welcoming. Limited parking, but there is a deck not far away. Walking distance from Greensboro metro. Also dog friendly! Parking is outdoors on a very rocky pavement. I actually ended with a flat tire after leaving this place. There's a lot of outdoor seating and food/beer selection is pretty good. You have to purchase tokens, which you trade for food or drink items. Staff didn't have the best manners and weren't very friendly. As someone who works in the Tysons area, it is such a relief to not have to make the trek to the District just to get to a beer garden. That said, the food here could be better. We got a bunch of different platters to share, but the sausages were not as up to par as places like Cafe Berlin. However, I had to take away some because the drinks are pretty damn pricey for what they are, and the food is just all right. The token system is inefficient, but perhaps less so than handling cash all the time. I don't know. Could be. It certainly doesn't help with getting served any faster. And the food line is a joke. It'd be great if they had a number LED system that displays to the outside (and inside) seating area the numbers that are up. My company held a team event at the Biergarten on a Monday evening for approximately 50 people. We occupied the basement area, which had plenty of seating and table tops to fit everyone. The service, food, and drinks were all great. We ordered salad, French fries (loaded and regular), and sliders (chicken and TBG Cheeseburger) from the A La Carte Food Menu. They have a huge, outdoor seating area with live music and a bar with ten American craft beers on tap; an average sized indoor bar with even more German and Belgian beer on tap; and a small, cool basement with several other American craft beers on tap. They have a small food menu with some pretty good food. For either food or beer, you have to buy tokens at a cashier shack in the middle. It's a bit confusing at first, but the system makes sense. The staff were all genuinely friendly people. Prices are interesting. A token costs eight dollars and can be used for a flight of Belgian beers (a smoking deal), a good sized meal (a real bargain) or one pint of American craft beer (which seems a bit expensive, but averages out if you consider the reasonably priced food). read more

Went here to watch the Capitals win the Stanley Cup. It was a great atmosphere outside and inside once the game was about to start, but the business has a weird setup. The place runs on a chip system. For example, you can buy a food chip (I think it's about $8.50 but I don't remember the exact amount). Then take your chip inside and check off what you want from a very small menu. The food chip doesn't cover everything on the menu (i.e. you can't order tons of appetizers on one chip, considering the value of one chip). The food is nothing special, but the pretzels were good. Not sure how much a drink chip costs as I couldn't drink that night. Before the Caps game that night, I was sitting outside on a bench with my friend and I realized there were women setting up their small businesses. At first I thought nothing of it but then a few more women came in and I recognized certain MLM/pyramid scheme names. The live musician would announce after every few songs that there were "women in business" selling their wares. No thanks. read more

I called the restaurant multiple times to complain about their extremely loud music. They play music well into the night on weeknights and past midnight on weekends. They ignored my calls and have absolutely no consideration for their residential neighbors. If they had any consideration for their neighbors, they would put their speakers inside their restaurant so they don't disturb their neighbors. If they ever wanted their neighbors to visit their restaurant they would stop treating their space as an outdoor concert venue when it is near residential space. I finally got a chance to go check this place out for one of the World Cup Soccer matches. This is place is definitely bigger than it looks. There's the big outdoor area plus the indoor area is 3 levels. The wings, hot dogs, and cheese fries were all great. Nice selection of beers on tap as well. Went there for watching the second half of a soccer game. Nice place, nice staff. What I do not understand is the fuzz here about payment. It's so(!) easy to do and understand and btw: that is how it is done in most parts in German Biergaerten! So it's authentic. If you are not able to distinguish between 3 colors, don't blame the place for it. They do have a decent choice of beers: Germans, supposedly Germans, Some from the rest of Europe and American crafts. I substract 0,5 points for the costs of some. Some are too expensive. Overpriced, rude service and truly nothing to it. How this place is always so crowded is beyond me as I've never met someone who likes it but I guess it's a convenient location so people look past the terribleness of it. I've been here on many occasions and every time am disappointed. The final straw was that against my better judgement I hosted an event here for work. I was assured that we would have a private space, TV wall available and sound system. Well we were given the balcony, told that we can't use the TV wall and given a useless mic/sound system. Someone who said he was one of the owners was there and helping us. Eventually he made the TV wall work (after we had to go to our office and bring them supplies, HDMI cord, etc) but he could not I've been ruder about it. It was like I was asking him to do the most difficult task in the world and he huff and puffed the whole time he was setting it up. The noise level got to be unbearable once the presentation started, not because there were patrons in there but because they were blasting the music. I begged them to turn it down for 10 minutes for a presentation and they refused. It was 5 pm, there were a lot of people there but they were all outside not in the inside area where my event was and still they wouldn't budge. I had to beg to get food delivered too which was crazy because I'm the customer and was paying the bill. The entire staff includes this supposed co-owner was clearly miserable and thus was beyond rude to myself and others. I mean for a tiny Biergarten that's a hole in the wall what did I expect but I will never be returning and I advise to avoid this place at all costs. That is not how you treat customers. read more

I had the sausage platter (Cheddarwurst and Bratwurst) with a side of fries and a cucumber salad - the sausages tasted like they were right off the grill with a smoky flavor and the cucumber salad was vinegary with spices goodness as well. I didn't even get a chance to drink their great selection of beers so I will have to go back for that but it's great to know there is a local place for quick and delicious food with great service as well! Seems like a cool place to go to during warm weather. First off, this place is hidden deep inside this small turn from the main road. We passed this several times getting lost, but right now it looks like theirs construction and can't really see the turn. Be on the look-out for the beirgarten flags (wasn't really noticeable since it was dark). Parking can get crowded. Later on at night around 11PM the parking lot was full, jammed pack with cars. I went on a chilly night, so the outdoors was off limits, but I saw that their was one guy singing and I saw big jenga and beer pong outside... very lenient at the door, cool chill people. They have an upstairs and downstairs. There are bars up and down stairs as well (both levels). There is a register at the main floor where you exchange your money for coins to buy drinks and food (must exchange money for coins to buy items). I guess the plus side is no tipping really? I'm not a beer person so I'm solely reviewing on the atmosphere and food ~ It was super loud (ofc its a bar!), but the food was mediocre. The food is on the main floor, in this hallway, you go there and grab a menu and mark it down with a pencil what you want. You hand it to one of the cooks there and give them however much coins is your meal. I ordered wings (1 red token) and the sausage platter which comes with 2 sides (1 red token). Then you stand there and wait for your food to be cooked. I like that they do check your ticket to make sure it is your food you're grabbing, but I think the set up for this is weird... because it is very very small inside the kitchen/order food area. I can't imagine what it would've been like if there was a large line. Luckily I was one of the first before the line got longer. So I waited there and she gave me my wings... and threw my ticket away, but I asked her wait, I had another order of the sausage platter. She digs in to find my ticket and sees its on there and proceeds to cook it and said to come back in 3 minutes. I come back in 3 minutes and grab my food, I walked downstairs to realize, wait wheres my second side item? I go back up there and she looks for my ticket again and realizes that she forgot my pancake side and cooks it and hands it over. . . . I had to walk back and forth to wait a lot of the times. After trying the food, it was meh. Nothing special. The pancake taste like hash brown which wasn't bad. Overall - chill place to go to for beers, but if you want food, go somewhere else. read more

This place is the bomb. Great beer selection. Plenty of space, unlike some other local biergartens. Knowledgeable bar tenders. Good quality pub grub. Only thing is their chip system. When you arrive you have to purchase beer/food poker chips. 1 chip for a single pour, 2 chips for a double pour (tall Hefeweizen) and 3 for "Das Boot." While this is kind of annoying they make up for it by keeping the colors the same. So if you purchase too many chips you can use them the next time you go. That to me makes up for any inconvenience. They are in walking distance of a metro station which is convenient as well. Others posted about the parking which I could see is an issue. I've only been on a Sunday afternoon so it wasn't an issue. Chances are you should probably be taking an UBER or metro going here. Lol. Lastly, they have a very good beer selection and plenty of cold water. Imports/Germans upstairs and domestics downstairs. I really wanted to like this place but sadly it did not live up to my standards. I came here during one of their Octoberfest celebrations. The other reviewers are right, the bouncer at the door does not explain anything to you about the chips system. When I finally figured it out I bought one chip - which by the way even though it is 8 bucks they charge you tax it's not 8 bucks flat. Also, the establishment is not built in a credit-friendly way and by that I mean, after you have your drink chip for example, at the bar the only way you can tip the bartender is with cash! I personally don't always carry cash with me - I really don't like how they set up their system. The drinks were average price (not too cheap and not too pricey either). The food was ok, typical bar food. Overall if you're looking for a change come check this place out, but not sure if it is everyone's cup of tea. read more

Good selection of German beer and some Belgian. We ate the wurst and sampled the sides including the cucumber salad (excellent), warm German potato salad (don't confuse this with mayonnaise drenched potato salad), frites (excellent curry seasoned), and the potato pancake (decent but out of a box). The brats were very good, but I was really disappointed with the bread they provided (hot dog bun). These should come with a nice roll. When entering the bar you buy tokens you need for food and drinks. You take the tokens to the bar for drinks and to the kitchen area for food. Each chip is $8.49 but reasonable price given the quality of beer. The sausage platters come with your choice of German sausages or hot dogs and two sides (sides were small but tasty). I saw some patrons with 1l beers so they must have used two tokens. Beers were served in proper glasses to match the brewery. The location is challenging to get to as you must be traveling westbound on route 7 and it is near a large construction site. It was worth the trip and the food is quite good. They have a bunch of benches outside and some seating inside with plenty of TV's if you want to watch a sporting event. They offer story time readings for children on Sunday afternoons so mom and dad can relax and have a bier and pretzel. What a great place ! I like to enjoy beer outdoors and this is the only one I know of in the area that has a great outdoors. Depending on when you go, parking is challenging. Saw valet and first thought was wtf, but then noticed it was only $2 haha...take my money lol. Chip system has pros and cons. In my humble opinion , pro is that it's quicker! Con is they're all the same price no matter what you get. I have several chips left, now I don't have to buy more, can just show up, order a beer, and move along! Perfect. A wide selection of German beers on main level, big fan of their ipa. Excellent selection of American craft beers down in the basement! What I really like about this place is its simplicity and all the activities you can partake in after a couple of drinks hehe...definitely enjoyed the mega jenga outdoors and beer pong tables! This place is legit with live musician and a huge wall to display sports games! Their snacks selections are delicious. I had a hotdogs and fries. Their beef hot dog was so good and they offer sooooo many sauces like Chipotle mayo and grilled jalapeños yumzz. This is probably the best biergarten that I have ever been to. I attended the grand opening about a couple weeks ago and I was blown away by how awesome the layout was. The place was packed and it seemed as though everyone was having a blast, there were games outside, a live band, good food and of course great beer. They have a 'poker chip' system which allows the process of buying food and beer simple and fast. I am someone that enjoys a beer every once in awhile and was unsure of what I wanted, I asked the bar tender what he recommended and he let me sample a few top selling ones. The picnic tables, twinkle lights, giant jenga, outdoor bar, and live music make this a relaxing and enjoyable venue on warm summer nights. Indoors, they have a couple of nice bars too. You should know before you go that just about everything is $8. You buy chips at a tent up front then trade in those chips for beer/food/liquor. I recently threw a surprise birthday party for my husband here. I had never been to the site, and my only knowledge came from their website. I worked exclusively with Matt via email, and he helped me narrow down a date, time, guest numbers, and the all important food/catering order! Let me just add, this party was thrown together, and a great success, in 2 weeks! Matt was so accommodating, and even had a solution for me in case we were rained out and couldn't use the outside patio! The location was a hit, and from what I am told, the beer selection was great (being 6+ months pregnant, I didn't get to sample!). The food we ordered was the correct amount, and over all was delicious. Everyone loved the wings, meatballs, and of course the pretzels. The french fries left a little to be desired, and tasted a little freezer burned, but overall the food was great! The chips for beer/food did seem a little intimidating as first, but after we all got the hang of it, the convenience of not having to keep a tab open, or pay per item was really nice. First time to Tysons Biergarten. We picked this Biergarten because they seemed to have a large outdoor space with picnic tables that would accomodate our baby, stroller and group of 4. We were greeted by security who checked our ID's. He didn't seem to be completely familiar with the token process by which this place runs, but directed us to the girl at the cash register inside. She sold us tokens, but also could not or chose not to explain the process. 1 You buy red (food), white (liquor) or blue (beer) tokens inside at the bar. You go to the bar and order your drinks from the bartender. You go around the back and check off a paper menu what you want to eat and give it to the kitchen staff, who in this case was too busy cooking to actually accept our order. The bar was out of Dinkelacker Octoberfest...I mean, c'mon on October 1!?! The sausages were good including the Weiss, Cheddar and Chicken Apple. Fries were not garlic parmesan at all, but just limp steak-cut fries. The potato pancake was a hashbrown, similar to Mcdonalds, and the warm german potato salad was a tiny cup with slices of potatoes which were neither warm or dressed well. The beers we did get were good. We arrived at about 12:15 on a Sunday and were literally the only customers outside. There was a large event being set up outside and we received no guidance about where to sit, how to get food and drinks and what the event was and if we could access the outdoor area (we could). The music....reggaeton and r&b at a biergarten....what? Directly at the bottom of the Greensboro metro station steps. I won't be making an effort to come back here. UPDATE**** made an effort to come back...because we'd left our expensive stroller leaning on the fence by the parking lot.
