I never write reviews but couldn't not give a 5 str one here. I was having a bad bad day and all I wanted was a hair cut to maybe lift the spirits. I go to Stevens and walk by here all the time and it looked so cute and everyone seemed to leaved happy so I called and somehow managed to find an appointment two hours later. Don't expect that thought because they are packed! In a good way! But I wish I remembered my stylists name today, but truly was in such a daze because of how my day was going. But she was so nice and made me laugh and smile and listened to everything I wanted. I'm always so nervous about cutting my hair because I finally loved the length. This was perfect. She lightened up my thick thick hair and gave it so much volume. Was in and out in 40 mins. Cannot say anything bad about two01. This was my first time going. They were COVID cautious, had me wash my hands upon entering, and all of the stylists wore masks. Krista gave me a great haircut. She was very friendly, gentle, and gave me exactly what I wanted. She was also able to take me a few minutes earlier than my appointment and finished in around 20 minutes. It is on the expensive side ($85 + tip), but I got great service and it was a fantastic experience! read more

Do not go to this salon. I was promise that in 8 weeks I will be able to get highlights. Without any notice, I show up to my appointment. The hairdresser refused to do highlights or dye my hair blonde. She told me that I should keep to my original hair color or stop using heat products. When do we not a right to get what we want. I got such a terrible cut by Kathy I felt the need to write a review. I decided to try Two01 because of its high reviews and asked Kathy for a bob cut that hit my collar bone and had texture. She curled my hair at the end so I left happy with the cut (unable to see any unevenness). After I washed and dried my hair the next day, I noticed there was a huge chunk of shorter hair on my right side that didn't blend well at all. Other people who saw me also noticed it immediately. I called the salon to let them know and I definitely did not feel Kathy was happy with the feedback. I went back in for her to fix it and she said that it was "heavier on that side" since my hair was parted that way. However she originally cut it with my hair parted exactly that way and that didn't explain why there were huge chunks of shorter hair. She tried to texturized it some more so it blended better. Although it helped a little, it still clearly has shorter chunks of hair on the right side. And now I have to have this awful haircut for at least four weeks before I can get it fixed. read more

I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, they don't have the capacity to make appointments on a timely schedule. My hair grows fast and I have roots. I need to get my hair done every 4-5 weeks, and I am more than happy to pay for that. After my first appointment, my next one was scheduled 6 weeks out. A little longer than I'd like, but fine. Two weeks before my appointment, I called to ask if I could move it up because something came up that was going to conflict. I was told that there was no availability, but they promised to call if any cancellations came up. Not a single opening came up in that two week period (if it did, I wasn't contacted). I then tried to reschedule my appointment for a later date. I have flexible hours and could literally come in any time for the 45-minute appointment I was looking for. I was told that the next opening would not be until July- 10+ weeks after my initial appointment. Not a single opening with any stylist- really? If you can manage to always go 7-8 weeks or more between appointments, this salon will work for you. Otherwise, take your money elsewhere. I'm disappointed and it's a shame for them to lose a potential customer who would have been coming in regularly on a monthly basis. read more

I've been living in Hoboken for a little over a year and finally needed to make a color appointment at a salon here. I chose Two01 based on the awesome reviews and I'm so glad I did. I got a single process color from Ecstacy and she absolutely NAILED the color. I wanted to go for a rich chocolate brown and I'm obsessed with what she did. The included blow out and styling after was fantastic as well! All this for $85 which IMO is totally reasonable and well priced. The salon itself is small, only 3 chairs, which allows for a really friendly environment. I love my hair & I highly recommend trying this salon! Update: not going here anymore, seeking new stylist!! The first time I went (as evidenced above), I was super jazzed. The second, however.... I think she a) made my hair darker, somehow, and b) did a horrible 'I go here all the time and they won't care' mullet cut. It is irritating because I assumed that we would build on my (lighter) color from before, which I liked, and experience a nice, similar cut. Assumed = spoke about it prior to the service. And, that just didn't happen. Based on my second experience here, I would not return. If you are going to pay this much for your hair cut and color, definitely go somewhere different! I am sad to write this, because I wanted two01 to be my go-to, and it is not. Maybe I should use a different stylist, here, but I cannot give my experiences to date more than this. read more

I went to five, FIVE salons to get tape-in extensions and they all overcharged me and messed up my hair/ruined my extensions (like reallyyyyy badly, like "I could write a novel about these experiences" badly lol) Kristen was the first stylist to expertly install my extensions and charge me a fair price. It was literally less than half of what I paid for at the other places. She colored my hair the exact color I requested too. I got a shampoo, haircut and blowdry with Kristen. While I am mostly okay with the results of the haircut, the service left a LOT to be desired. Specifically, the following two things had me deciding that it was not the experience I was looking for or one that I wanted to come back for. 1. Once Kristen washed my hair, she left me with head hanging on the sink while she attended another client. When I couldn't take being in that position any longer, I got up and was directed to the waiting chairs till she was done. What was strange was the entitlement with which she did this without suggesting that she was in any way apologetic for double booking her time. 2. When she was done cutting my hair and was sweeping the hair away, another client, who was waiting, expressed appreciation for my hair saying, "wow, so much volume!" and Kristen responded saying "yeah, like a dog's hair." I was taken aback. I said, "excuse me, did you say a DOG's hair?". She said, simply, "yes.". I still wanted to give her benefit of doubt thinking she perhaps loves dogs, and said "do you have a dog?" and she said, "no." That was too strange for me. Nothing against our canine friends but I do not want to go to to a stylist who thinks that my hair is like a dog's!! My only regret, I was too stunned to show my disappointment in the tip amount. Hiring Two01 for my wedding hair and makeup was one of the best decisions I made. Ashley and Kristen handled my bridal party and moms and did such an amazing job. She listens, makes suggestions based on my hair color and texture and the season etc. She just gets it. She has totally transformed my hair from the basic straight brown to ombre/bayalage etc. Within the process she has also taught me how to properly take care of my hair (i.e., no more washing it everyday, how to curl it, and what heat styling products to use). Ashley is amazing! I did extensive research before picking just anyone to color my hair. She has many years of experience and it definitely showed. She gave me natural looking balayage on my 'virgin' long brunette hair. I was looking to lighten up for the summer. I've had balayage twice in previous years, but it had completely grown out. I showed Ashley some pictures of what I wanted and she managed to come up with a color that was lighter and natural looking. She suggested not to go too 'dramatic' the first go around, and I'm glad she did. Where to begin.. I started going to Ashley through a friend's recommendation. Let me also preface this to say I have not had a "steady" stylist in about 5 years due to a recent parting when my previous stylist moved, so finding Ashley has been one of the highlights of my year. It also makes me question my friend for hiding her for so long!!! My cut and color are absolutely perfect each time. I have been using INOA and O&M lines for the past 5years w/o any issue. - Staff was very upset after I dared to tell them that I could still see grey hair. From that moment the rest of the appointment was very unpleasant - staff giving me orders: 'sit here', 'turn your head', 'after the blow dry, you'll go and I don't want to see you again' ... I was also told that it is very rude to tell the lady that the water was too hot during the shampoo?!!! I have been seeing Kristen for over 5 years and she works wonders on my hair every time I see her. She has taken my hair from a {dyed} dark reddish-brown to highlighted blonde in a matter of 2-3 visits which is difficult to do, all while maintaining my hair's health. I've also had her dye my hair a rosy-pink, and again, she's been able to return it to the blonde I so naturally want to have but don't. She's an amazing colorist and always provides a fresh, clean cut. For years, I've kept my hair at a lob length, and Kristen has always styled it so that I can easily style it on my own. Kristen generously moved my appointment, without me realizing, so that my hair would be freshly done for when my now husband proposed because she (and he) knew that it was important to me! And when I asked Kristen to do my hair for my wedding, she immediately agreed even though she does not focus on weddings any more. I have been going to Kristen for my tape in hair extensions for years. I have gotten them done at other places and she is by far the best at them. She is strategic in where she puts them so I only have to get them moved up every 8 weeks - sometimes I can go even longer than that. I have always been so insecure about my hair and with these extensions my confidence is so much higher and I feel so much better about my hair. She is so great a color as well and matches the extensions perfectly. I used to get my color done every 6 weeks to be blonde. Now we only do color every few months because she does such a good job and the extensions act like highlights as well. If you want extensions you NEED to go to Kristen. Not only is she the nicest person ever, she really cares about the health of your hair and these extensions have caused my hair NO DAMAGE. Go see her!! read more

I have known Kristen for a while and used to love her for her blowouts. She could even make my limp hair look so glam! I started getting highlights and she listens to exactly what i want, which is leaving some root behind but not an actual ombre. Just recently i got tape-in extensions by her and ABSOLUTELY love them.
