If you're looking for the best balayage in Hoboken, you have to see Michelle! She does an amazing job, and I always leave looking amazing. The salon is so friendly and welcoming, and they provide the best service in Hoboken.

Finding a hair stylist to trust with a balayage is tough and intimidating, especially given how uncommon the style is for men. Michelle was able to envision the style that I had in mind and executed flawlessly. The final look was even better than the reference picture I brought in. Michelle has also been cutting my hair routinely for the last year and she always leaves me feeling like a million bucks, without having to spend a million bucks. Do yourself a favor and give her a visit.

Hudson Square Salon is my go to salon in Hoboken after trying at least 10 others. I tried the most expensive salons in town and some of the mid ranges. Nothing compares to HSS, for highlights especially. The salon is super clean and well lit. I always go to Gerry. He is amazing at what he does and used to travel around the country teaching color. He is easy to talk to and very accommodating. He even went down the street to get me a sandwich while my color processed! Great services on all levels.

$140 hair "double process" hair color + $85 long layered haircut.

Hello Gerry, I've twice received a bounce back from your contact email, so I have to post this here. I came to the salon on Saturday 12/30 for my 1:45 appointment. I told you I found the salon after I researched some places in Hoboken with good reviews. This is why I feel like I've been taken advantage of and also misled. According to the bill I was charged: $85 for a two inch haircut with long layers at the bottom and $140 for color. $276.75 ( $231.75 + cash tip ) = total cost I'd like to know why I was charged this amount and honestly I'd like a refund. The absolute most I should have paid, based on your menu is $180. I was not told pre-cut or pre-dye that it would have to be a double process. I needed my hair dyed dark to cover up the red/yellowish uneven color I had. The double process (from what you told me upon checkout) was because you had to mix more hair dye since there was a 1/4 section left in the front and you ran out. I also think it would be in the best interest of each future patron to know that your definition of " double process" means extra hair dye not the traditional double process method that says: First the hair is lightened and then colored over. You have my credit card information from Saturday(Discover) and you have my email. . I hope this can be remedied. Thank you in advance.

I've been bouncing around salons in Hoboken for years, usually turning out too blonde or feeling like my hair was dry and dead after highlights. I tried Hudson Square Salon on a whim and so happy I did. Michelle did an amazing job getting my hair to a perfect multi-dimensional ashy blonde. She really knows her stuff and walks you through everything she's doing. I couldn't be happier with the result!

Hudson Square Salon is the best salon around! I've been going to Gerry for 5 years. Gerry and Michelle are amazing at what they do. I will never change salons ever!

Most beautiful ombré/color correction I have ever had! Thank you Michelle.

She even helped me figure out what I wanted because I know nothing about hair so she created her own vision for me and it was perfection! Not to mention the salon itself is very nice, great location, lots of natural light, low music, and excellent service made the whole appointment feel like a treat. She was so nice and obviously a master hair stylist, I've been getting so many compliments on my hair since my appointment with her. I can't recommend Natalia and this salon enough, whether you're in looking for color, a cut, hair treatment or just a change, this is a great place to do it!

In the end my hair colorist recommended to look for other salons after l ask to correct highlights because it was slightly uneven and l assuming because I didn't like to pay $270-$280 bill for few strands. I have given this salon several chances over multiple visits because I know finding a salon that…read moreknow how to handle curly hair is challenging, but unfortunately, my experiences have been very inconsistent. For anyone with curly or wavy hair, I would describe the service here as very hit-or-miss when it comes to curly hair. My most recent appointment was especially disappointing. **Haircut** I booked with Michael Bergela, a master stylist, for what was supposed to be a simple trim. Instead, he cut my hair significantly shorter than I requested. This is the shortest my hair has ever been in my life, and I left feeling extremely insecure because short hair is not a look I feel comfortable with. I had clearly expressed that I prefer to keep my length. When I raised my concerns, I was essentially told to go back to the stylist who had previously cut my hair because there was nothing he could do. That response was frustrating considering I had just paid almost $500 and was leaving extremely unhappy with the result. We started with my hair completely wet, which made me nervous, but I tried to trust the process. I asked for my bangs to be blended a little more, and somehow that resulted in a substantial amount of length being removed from the rest of my hair. At the very least, I would have appreciated a warning that this was going to happen. I have seen plenty of people with long hair and bangs, so I still do not understand why so much length needed to be removed. I came in with length that stopped middle of my back and left with shoulder length. **Hair Color** Frank handled my color service. I intentionally wait a long time between appointments to minimize damage, meaning he was working with a significant amount of virgin hair. I explained exactly what I wanted, but after the color was completed and I was sent to be shampooed, Frank left before even seeing the final result or asking whether I was happy with it. I had been in the salon from around 11:00 a.m. until nearly 6:00 p.m., and after all that time, I was disappointed to see noticeable damage and a balayage that looked much thicker and less blended than I had requested. **Styling** Fiona did the initial styling. I have 2C/3A wavy-curly hair, which is not an especially difficult curl pattern to work with. However, my hair was left extremely frizzy with almost no curl definition. It honestly looked like I had rolled out of bed. After spending almost $500, I should not leave feeling like I could have achieved a better result at home. I expressed my concerns to Fiona and specifically pointed out the frizz and lack of curl definition, but she made no effort to correct it and simply LEFT AS WELL. By this point, the salon was nearly empty because most of the stylists had already gone home. It felt like the focus was no longer on providing good service but on getting me out the door. A second person, who I believe may have been an intern or assistant attempted to style my hair. She seemed very nervous, and I genuinely tried to be patient and kind. In fact, I found myself guiding everything how to style wavy/curly hair because I wanted to leave with my hair looking presentable. Michael even handed her a brush that was completely inappropriate for curly hair styling. I really just wanted to take over so I can leave already at this point. I am sharing this experience so that other curly-haired clients can make an informed decision. My most recent appointment left me with hair that was shorter than requested, more damaged than expected, poorly styled, and left me feeling far less confident than when I walked in but the issue wasn't just the hair itself, but how the staff handled my concerns. Instead of anyone taking the time to address my dissatisfaction or attempting to make things right, each person simply left, said there's nothing they can do and to go back to the person that previously cut my hair. I am not the type of person to leave negative reviews but I paid good amount of money and felt very insecure of my hair for days. Hoping I would get used to it but I'm just waiting for my hair to grow back now and doing a lot of hair masks.

Flying into town, I got off the plane with inexplicably big, frizzy hair. Meeting up with a friend…read morelater for drinks, I knew I needed help. I booked "The Works" at Bloom because it had great reviews and was an easy walk from my hotel. For about $100, Jorge put a mask on my hair to smooth it all out, gave me a blowout, and then flatiron curled it. My hair was smooth, curly, and glossy. It looked perfect. One of the first compliments I received when my friend saw me was that he really liked my hair. Jorge came to the rescue. It was well worth the money. The staff was really friendly and the spa modern. I do wish I could add a tip with my card, but I could at least tip him by using Venmo.

White Hart first attracted me because of James. I used to visit James when he was at Sally Hershberger for cuts and keratin, but then when he moved over to a different salon, I stopped going to see him (not because of James, but rather because I found the front desk staff and assistants very rude there and it was impossible to get an appointment). When I heard that James had opened his own salon, I was thrilled. I was able to book an appointment with ease through their easy to use system. White Hart is conveniently located in on 22nd off the A,C,E 23rd street stop. The salon is in the basement but well marked so easy to find and because it isnt right on the street, I found the salon to be quiet - it almost felt a little spa like. Another bonus is that they use R&Co products which I love and unlike some keratin products, the keratin they put on my hair could be washed that same day (although I waited 24 hours). The salon has great sonos speakers and since I was the first appointment of the day, James let me choose the playlist. The best part is that there is a little garden so when I was done with my appointment, I sat outside and finished my coffee and sent some emails. It has been a week and I am very happy with my keratin and cut and have received several compliments. I plan to come back for keratin and also blowouts and cuts.
