I have long hair that can be anywhere from wavy to just downright messy curls, it's changed over the years. Molly has always made sure to give me the cut that would flatter it most if it air-dried or blow dried myself, not just when it was professionally blown out leaving the salon. I tell her how I usually would do it and she makes sure that the cut works best for that. She has always given me honest opinions or when I thought about coloring it or doing a gloss. I loved that she didn't push me at all for any sort of color even though it would obviously be much more expensive. Before Salon Gatto, over the years, I've gone to other salons closer to home or near work when I was in a pinch or I've seen other hair stylists at Salon Gatto before I found Molly, (I'm sorry but I can't remember any names!) They were always wonderful and I definitely left happy but Molly is my favorite. She is great at her job, not overly talkative (this is a time to RELAX for me) and sweet and is honest. Am I fangirling?? Probably. They have two locations and just opened a whole new second floor at their original location by the Path train, so I love to see them growing and growing!! Other little great things about Salon Gatto: -they have a lovely drink menu that they bring you out right away, which makes visits here feel even more like a treat. -they hair wash is thorough and they will almost always include a really nice head massage. I've been seeing Emmi for over 3 years, during which she's helped me live out all my hair dreams. Emmi has transformed my hair from short ash blonde and seamless balayages, to healthy, long hair (blonde Christine from 5 years ago never could have fathomed this). I low-key wish I wasn't going for a more natural vibe, so that I'd have an excuse to see Emmi more often. I can't rave about Emmi enough. Aside from being an amazing colorist and stylist, she's incredibly professional, down-to-earth, and fun to spend time with. She's everything you love about the West Coast, packaged into the perfect stylist in the best city in the world. Emmi and My Darling Ivy are also taking extra precautions due to Covid. White Hart first attracted me because of James. I used to visit James when he was at Sally Hershberger for cuts and keratin, but then when he moved over to a different salon, I stopped going to see him (not because of James, but rather because I found the front desk staff and assistants very rude there and it was impossible to get an appointment). When I heard that James had opened his own salon, I was thrilled. I was able to book an appointment with ease through their easy to use system. White Hart is conveniently located in on 22nd off the A,C,E 23rd street stop. The salon is in the basement but well marked so easy to find and because it isnt right on the street, I found the salon to be quiet - it almost felt a little spa like. Another bonus is that they use R&Co products which I love and unlike some keratin products, the keratin they put on my hair could be washed that same day (although I waited 24 hours). The salon has great sonos speakers and since I was the first appointment of the day, James let me choose the playlist. The best part is that there is a little garden so when I was done with my appointment, I sat outside and finished my coffee and sent some emails. It has been a week and I am very happy with my keratin and cut and have received several compliments. I plan to come back for keratin and also blowouts and cuts.
