The poor haircut was the least of it - hair grows out and some stylists just aren't all that skilled. What stands out about my visit to Hudson Cuts was the rude aggressiveness of the person who cut my hair. Admittedly, I am new to New Jersey and may not be inured to the brusque, scolding tone I have been warned is not uncommon here.
To begin, I was scolded for not bringing a photo of the kind of cut I wanted (when I thought stylists weren't crazy about working from photos). So I fumbled for my phone to try and find a photo of an old cut of mine. I got scolded for not keeping my hands under the cape. Not making this up! She then derisively said that I couldn't expect my hair to look like the picture she had demanded I produce because now my "hair was old" and would never do what "young hair" did. I swear - this happened. By now I was a wee bit concerned that I was in the hands of an idiot. Ultimately, I left with a cut modeled on Mr. Spock and the force was definitely not with me. Granted, my experience at Hudson Cuts was with only one of a number of stylists and, if the Yelp ratings are a good measure, this person could have just been having a colossally bad day, nonetheless, wild horses couldn't drag me back in this salon. I don't pay people for verbal abuse. read more
