After reading a few threads in the local Hoboken FB group and their yelp reviews, I decided to give Monica's a try for a very overdue haircut. A hair cut w/ blow out is $65 which is the best rate you are going to find in town (please note they are cash only or zelle). Please note they are not a big or fancy salon, however, they are super friendly and warm and made me feel very comfortable. When I first walked in, I was greeted by an adorable, sweet cocker spaniel and offered wine. I was the only when getting a service at the time and Mark took his time washing my hair. He did a great job cutting my hair and blowing it out. I left very pleased with my look and with several dog treats for my pug! I'm really happy I went here and I will be back again. If you're considering going to Monica's you definitely should make an appointment asap. they were able to get me in last minute and catered to my schedule as well. i went from my long grown out brown hair that i hadn't had a cut since the pandemic, to cute layers and curtain bangs plus a balayage. The prices are great in comparison to other salons in the area and my hair turned out better than I expected. They are super sweet and accommodating over there and i even got to meet their sweet puppy charlie, easily the highlight of my day. My boyfriend called here the other night and Mark answered all of our questions and was able to get me in right away! I was so happy that he got me in so quick! He closes at 8 and I got there around 7 I believe. I wanted long bangs with rounded layers. He didn't know what rounded layers were but he did give me long layers and long bangs. He washed my hair (I had hair oil in it since I wasn't expecting an appointment so quick lol) and then cut it. I'm very happy with my hair cut! It was $50 which is better than most places in Hoboken. Mark is a very nice man!! He was checking in with me making sure he cut off all that I wanted. My boyfriend and I didn't know they didn't take credit cards at the time. He was accepting cash, zelle, or Apple Pay only. I ran to an ATM nearby to pay him, he was very kind about all of it and he felt bad. I also felt bad lol cause I don't usually keep cash on me. He offered my boyfriend and I red wine and cookies while we were there which was awesome!! Historically, I've asked for long layers and two inches off the bottom in an effort to have lighter and bouncier hair, that was still long.
