Elizabeth was awful. She was blatantly disrespectful and unprofessional. In the middle of my appointment, she suddenly changed the price we had agreed on. She used wrong color and never bothered trying to fix when I expressed my discontent. I had to fix it myself the next day by buying a color. The side cut was shaved so unevenly during my first visit there and the second time wrong color... Just a botched job overall. Very careless, rude person. The ambiance at this salon in general was very uptight and off putting. As I read in another review, they don't treat their customers kindly if they speak up. She also made a comment word for word that she didn't like the cut because it reminded her of "lesbians". Meanwhile, from her own account her husband's son is gay. How disgraceful and ignorant to make such remarks based on a person's choice of haircut, especially as a hairdresser. The way I wear my hair has nothing to do with who I like but either way, it's so inappropriate to speak that way. Shockingly shallow. Nothing upscale about this place. read more

I stumbled upon Sole Salon by chance and so glad I did. The salon is spacious, airy and has a cool vibe. I instantly liked my stylist Davida - she was patient, knowledgeable and over all a really nice person to work with. The single process with a blow out is for $80 and a gloss is $30. The finished product (my hair!) looked fantastic in the end. The only reason this is not a five star review is because I wasn't too happy with the color pay off - I might try a different brand next time to see if it works better for my hair type. Be warned. They will find ways to up-charge you. The first time I came here I received a cut and full highlights costing me $400. My hair is normal- not too long or thick. I asked for layers and was unimpressed and the color was dull. Hoping it was just the hair dresser, I recently called to ask for another cut and color and asked if there is another stylist and that the last time was a bit expensive for me. The receptionist proceeded to tell me the rates are the same for everyone, they do not have any junior stylists. I asked for a quote for a cut and full highlights, and again close to $400 - not even including a blowout. I said "oh wow the same as last time" and then I was hung up on. Mind you, online it says haircut $80 and up and full foils $200 and up. To me, there is a major difference between $280 and $400. There are far too many hair places in this area that can do a better job and treat their customers more kindly when inquiring about stylists and costs of services. Do yourself and your wallet a favor and do not come here. read more

Curly haired ladies - this place is the answer to your prayers! If you have curly hair, you know how difficult it is to get the right haircut and the right stylist who knows how to handle it. I walked into Sole partly because I could see a number of people working there had the most gorgeous curls of different types, which was definitely promising, and the final result did not disappoint! I was sick for a while and lost tons of hair; whatever was left was super dry, flat, and just generally pretty sorry looking. I walked in on a Saturday and Mary took the time to look at my hair, and gave me advice on what it needed, and what she could do for me. I booked an appointment for the next day with her, and the entire experience was nothing short of amazing. She did a deep-conditioning treatment, gloss, gave my hair a much needed trim, and finished with a blow-dry. Throughout, she was super friendly and full of really good advice on what to do with my hair to keep it healthy. I never felt better taken care of, and when she was done, my hair honestly looked like it had come back from the dead. From ratty and dry and frizzy to smooth and bouncy and soft and shiny! The salon itself is really bright and airy, and the chairs at the wash station have got a built-in massager and recliner - bliss! Everyone is also super friendly, right from the lovely receptionist who greets you as you come in. tldr - this is a great place, with fantastic stylists and service. read more

Victoria is one of the best hair stylists I've ever been to. She cut my hair so well and very patiently. She's polite and soft spoken which I liked about her. My hair looked beautiful after she was done with it. She even showed me how she styled my hair so I could try it myself. The salon itself is pretty clean. Nice music and a chill atmosphere. Almost walked into the wrong place because the Yelp reviews I looked at were for their previous location at 1212 Washington Street. Doh! I was due for a haircut (I try to go every six weeks) and I made an appointment to try out this place for 3:00 today (12/11). I got there about 20 minutes late, but they were very pleasant and assured me it was no problem. They even offered me coffee. I really want to know where they bought their chairs for the hair-washing sinks. Not only do they contour to fit your body, but they also massage your back, legs, and arms while the stylist washes your hair. It felt awesome. My stylist was friendly and quick (I think her name was Belize?...I really hope I'm spelling her name correctly)...although I think she chopped off a bit more than I asked for (I wanted about a half-inch trim all around, and it looks more like she took an inch off). But no worries, because it was a clean job, and because I've been taking better care of my hair with regular maintenance, I'm sure my hair will grow back soon enough. I did ask Belize what I should do if I wanted my hair to grow back faster, and she recommended taking biotin supplements. This surprised me, because usually hair salons will hawk whatever products they have if you ask them questions about how to get your hair to look a specific way. This was a refreshing change. Total price was exactly what was advertised on their board: $80. I gave Belize a $5 tip (is that too cheap? I'm not good at figuring out tips) and scheduled a follow-up appointment six weeks from now (01/22/14). I found out they do keratin treatments as well, which is awesome, because I'll be due for another treatment come April. The next time I go, though, I'll bring a ruler. :-) read more

I LOVE this salon. I heard about it on Yelp and I'm so lucky I found it. The salon was gorgeous, clean, and they offer WINE. WINE!!!! They even have massage chairs! As for employees, I had Davida. Even though it was almost closing and Davida knew I had to dye my roots from jet black to blonde she took me anyways!! She and the other employees were extremely welcoming, kind, and attentive. They all pitched in to make sure my hair would look its best. Davida started looking over my hair and discussing what she was going to do; right away I could tell the entire staff knew what they were doing. I have never had a stylist talk through exactly what they were going to do and why, while explaining all the chemical and color numbering system jargon. She was able to tell right away that my previous stylist had no idea what she was doing (something I've been telling everyone) and that the previous stylist had left orange streaks in my hair when it was supposed to be completely blonde. It did not take too long to lift my roots and apply conditioner and toner. I had come in for a simple root touch up, but I left with a bombshell color and amazing style. I scheduled my next appointment before I even left! 10/10 would recommend. This place knows what they're doing, they can turn a hack job into a princess style. Jenn Geoghan was absolutely amazing! I rarely ever color my hair and have only gotten my hair cut by my hairdresser back home. Jenn was so patient and actually listened to what I wanted done. I came in with about 6 pictures of a brunette balayage I wanted to replicate, with specific likes and dislikes per picture. Jenn somehow managed to color my hair with exact precision based off of what I had loved in each of my inspiration pictures. She took so much time with me (~3.5h) and I wasn't double booked which added a nice hospitable touch to the appointment. Overall +5 stars, I would go back in a heart beat! read more

I walked-in to Sole Salon today and was greeted by a very friendly receptionist who said I could have my haircut right away. I sat in Davida's chair-for the initial consultation. I showed her a few photos and then was off to shampoo. The shampoo chairs massage while the assistant works. Then back to Davida's chair where she gave me a fantastic cut-all the while she talked me through her approach and why she was doing what she was doing. She did an awesome job.
