Lackluster, small front is deceiving....the inside is big and quite nice!
    Russell W.

This brewery is a nice gem for the area! Summary of what's to follow: good beer, good people, good parking, clean and spacious venue. As we drove up through the neighborhood, I wasn't sure we were in the right area, but the residential housing ended in a semi-industrial area, and there it was. The front seemed small and plain, with limited parking. (Fear not! They lease out the parking across the street as well...but I didn't know that at the time). We parked, and I excitedly walked in expecting the good beer I had heard about in a small, plain setting that would match the image sold by the exterior. Yes, good beer, but nope, not small and plain. Huge, clean, and nicely laid out and decorated! The interior has original art around the many walls, the bar and stools are nice, nice glassware, and free games to play (aside from the giant jenga x2 and bean bag toss/cornhole, there's also a shelf of board games in the room between the bar area and hall to the bathroom). The men's bathroom was also nicer and bigger than expected. Adjacent to the bar is another large room that's divided by a waist-high wall and provides a bunch of overflow tables with folding chairs and plenty of room for a band to setup. Beyond that is yet even MORE space in the form of a surprisingly big outdoor patio which had a food truck on one end and a portable (temporary vendor) axe throwing truck when we were there! Awesome. The people working the bar were very nice and communicative despite my challengingly quiet demeanor (until you get a couple beers in me, of course). We could tell they had an existing rapport with some of the other guests, but I felt like a valued and appreciated customer despite my less familiar face. Don't you wanna go...where [everybody or nobody] knows your naaaaame, and they're always glad you caaaaame? Do do dooo... The beer....I imagined getting to this part sooner, so if anything shows how surprised and pleased I was with the venue, this does. I only had time to try three of their offerings, but they were all quite good, particularly for a fairly new brewery. Good, clean flavors with clean finishes that highly suggest they take pride in both their ingredients and the cleanliness of their equipment. I would like to see a hoppier back-bone IPA, but everything I tried was more than worthy of my money. The Full Nelson was my favorite, though I kind of suspected it might be. My excitement for a Nelson-hopped beer in the current market's galaxy of Citra, Mosaic and...well...Galaxy hops may have had me biased from the start, but it was very tasty and I can't wait to try the rest of what they have to offer. I hope to be back soon, maybe I'll see you there? Happy Exploring!

Very solid beer selection and quality. Kind of a more traditional microbrewery in that it's basic, but it works well IMO. Shuffleboard table that's a fun way to pass the time or sit at the bar or tables. Music here as well, but I've only been during the week so no music review for me yet.

Beer was good (hazy IPA's) and I loved the food options from the kitchen they have a spicy liquid cheese that goes with the soft pretzels. It is apparent the same cheese that is served at hockey games. Servers require you to put in a food order, the. You flip your table number up and they come and take your drink order. There are seats inside and out. Very attentive servers.

Great beer. Great environment. Free popcorn and games. TVs playing the games. Friendly bartenders. Not sure what else you need.

Been here three times. Solid beer selection. The roast beef sandwich is not to be missed. Be sure to ask for it warmed up tho. Also, don't miss the fried Oreos. They go with beer.

A Community Venue Changed…read more The Egremont Barn, now operating as Buttonball Barn, was once a cornerstone of local music and community gathering. Because of our long-standing connection to the space, my husband and I chose it for our wedding celebration, placing our deposit with the previous owners, who were professional and supportive throughout the process. After the property changed ownership, we still proceeded with our event in October. This celebration held particular significance, as my father was seriously ill at the time, and we were grateful he was able to attend. Unfortunately, our experience with the new ownership raised serious concerns about professionalism, transparency, and respect for both clients and staff. On the day of the event, the owner attempted to impose additional charges not outlined in our contract. This included a demand for a $500 fee for using a room to get ready--a space she had explicitly told me I could use earlier in the day, noting it was acceptable despite the building being under construction. While I was getting ready, she entered the room while my mother and a family friend were assisting me and removed a rug from beneath them, stating that I "wasn't supposed to use the room all day." I chose not to address this at the time in order to preserve the tone of the day. Throughout the event, the owner was also openly drinking at the open bar, which had been paid for by my father. As the night concluded, she insisted that I personally break down the entire venue either immediately or first thing the following morning--despite knowing I had family visiting--or I would be charged for a cleaning crew. This expectation had not been communicated beforehand and was not included in the contract. When I suggested discussing it the next day, she continued to press the issue and confronted my husband, who attempted to redirect the conversation. To avoid further escalation, my friends and I cleaned the venue that night--while I was still in my wedding dress. She later stated that she would retain space heaters I had purchased in exchange for waiving the disputed room fee. When I noted that none of these charges or arrangements were contractually agreed upon, she responded, "I'm expensive, and I'm not in the contract either, honey," in reference to her being casted on The Real Housewives of New York City. Additionally, her conduct toward long-standing staff members--many of whom had supported the venue for years--was concerning and contributed to an atmosphere that felt transactional rather than community-centered. Some of those staff members have since left the venue. What was most troubling was the timing and context. The attempts to extract additional money occurred at the end of a wedding celebration involving a seriously ill parent, placing unnecessary stress on a family during an already significant moment. The Egremont Barn once represented collaboration, music, and mutual respect. Under its current ownership, that spirit appears to have shifted toward aesthetics and revenue at the expense of community and care. I encourage readers to proceed with caution, ask detailed questions, and ensure all expectations are clearly documented in writing before booking events there.

Hubby had the burger - sans bun (gf) he called it "good and tasty." I can vouch for the excellent crispy hot fries. I had a special risotto - with savory veggies, crunchy crispy onions, cooked al dente - perfect. * We shared the cheesecake which could be delivered gluten free simply omitting the gram cracker sprinkle - creamy cheesy deliciousness. * Our first time hearing the Jack Grace a gentle blend of country, rock, and bossa nova made us fans. Apple Music does not represent what we heard. LIve was better. We will be back and recommend the food and the music! But when I want to have an elevated experience with a nod to fine dining, this is my go-to. I always bring friends from out of town here and everyone is impressed. The bartenders make the best martinis and Manhattans you'll find, along with a seasonal cocktail menu that features something for everyone, including mocktails. When I don't want a full dining experience but the hubs and I have a babysitter, we like to sit at the bar for martinis and oysters - SO FRESH! If you don't do oysters, anything on the appetizers list is a wonderful light bite. I don't know what kind of magic the chef uses to make the salads but they are always simple, yet stunning. For dinner, the steak is hard to pass up if you eat red meat. I usually get the single serving NY strip, which is incredible. You can't go wrong. I'm excited to try the porterhouse for 2. My mollusk loving friend raved about the mussels and the fish selection is fantastic. I'm not a big dessert person, but splitting any of the desserts is a treat. Alternatively, the digestif selection doesn't disappoint. The bartenders and bar manager, Nick, are helpful in guiding your taste buds to the right choice. Bud, the owner, whose previous establishments can be read about in some respectfully placed articles around the restaurant, is always accommodating for the busiest place in town. It's nearly impossible to get a seat on Friday and Saturday nights from 6-9, but he will be honest and create a space at one of the little side bar areas if he can. The ambiance is sexy and sophisticated with a touch of whimsy. The toilet paper holder in the restroom always makes me smile (IYKYK). Having been to this restaurant many times, you'll start to see familiar faces as there is now a strong regular crowd. The community and connections that I've found while at Lyonshare have enhanced my experience of living in Beacon. Oh, last thing - brunch is a can't miss, must do culinary event.
