I went here for the food truck festival. Wow was that a lot of fun. They really have it well organized and about 8 to 10 trucks available. Definitely a family go to event. They also have a beer garden. Definitely enjoyed the tastings that I had. If I was a little closer, this would be my go to spot. Service was quick and efficient as well as a great set up. I came here on a whim & wasn't sure what I was in the mood for, so I ordered the burnt tips (Meat Candy) from the grazing menu & it it was a beautiful bowl of meat! I was so excited, I forgot to take a pic..lol! It was DELICIOUS! I thought to myself, it's so much meat ill take half home, but I didn't. I ate it all!! FYI, they also make their own hot sacue. The beers on tap are mostly IPAs, but they did have a nice Pilsner i ordered & i hear the Lower Valley Ipas are good too. I tasted the lower valley mango ips, not bad, but i settled on the Clarity Pilsner. From what I hear, Monday night is the time to come because that is when Mike works & everything he makes it good.At least that is the consensus.. so I assume they struggle w/ consistency. I felt bad for not including a pic of my meal, so I ordered dessert. The listed seasonal empanada, so I got that. It was a bit overcooked & I would have like a little more goip to the filling besides diced apples & a little cinnamon. So the first time that I came to this restaurant. I was by myself. I don't drink, but I would have liked a really nice lunch.. I ordered the pickle melt with french fries and a Coke. The Coke was flat with no carbonation. The pickle melt was not very flavorful, and it was like the grill had been stuck to the sandwich and not cleaned very good. Our experience was horrible. My fiancé got a side of MOLDY cornbread with his meal. It was wrapped in plastic wrap, but that is no excuse to serve moldy bread especially if you can clearly see green on the top of the piece. The wings I got were dry and charred, which also sucked. My friend also ordered a cocktail and it tasted watered down. They only removed the corn bread off the bill despite it being on the plate with my fiancés meal. Really sad. I've been there many times , everything is good , the owner grew up in the restaurant business. I usually get the pizza's the last one I got was a little overdone underneath. So a few days ago I changed it up and ordered some BBQ . Speechless !!! I got the 3 meat sampler . Ribs, pulled pork and brisket, 2 sides and corn bread . We visited with a group of friends on a Friday night. The place was packed! I started with a sour.... I'm not a beer girl, so this was a good choice for me. Nice flavor, not beer-like. For an appetizer, we went with the Meat Candy (burnt ends). This was disappointing.... they can came out cold! For entree, I had the bbq Fiesta plate (pulled pork, ribs and brisket with my choice of slaw and fries for sides and a piece of cornbread). I was split on this. It was a lot of food for the price, but not everything was good. Pulled pork was the best thing on the plate, albeit fatty (the portion I had). The brisket was one thick cut piece, but was a bit dry.... nice smoke ring and flavor, bites were better with sauce. The ribs were over charred. Cornbread and sides were good. They do have a nice housemade hot sauce on the table! Hubs had the bacon egg burger. The description sounded great but just not executed well. The gouda cheese was a slice just thrown on there, not melted at all! Neither of us felt good after this meal. Staff was friendly and was def trying their best to keep up with how busy the place was. Well, we planned for a special celebration of two upcoming birthdays. It took some work for the four of us to determine a location due to dietary limitations and VVB won for it's menu. We all drove a distance to get here. The beer was excellent and is the only reason for us to return. The service was fine but the place was almost empty. The food arrived on aluminum trays covered with paper that were old looking and took me back to school lunch. Unattractive. Coffee was served in a paper cup! K cup too. Discussing this with my wife, we are under the impression that while the bar glassware get the obligatory dip and rinse, table ware does not. I wonder if they have a dishwasher. Removing the paper from the aluminum platter and rinsing is possibly all the cleaning it gets. That really concerns me. The fish taco was way too salty and was made with dried, thin fillets and were not mahi. Maybe pollock. The french fries were shiny with grease, blackened by the old oil used and under cooked, every issue suggesting that the fryolator was not up to frying temperature. Bean burger just didn't cut it and like the Bifona sandwich, not enough between the bread and too much bread. Not one of us discussed the food. I believe we were all disappointed and embarrassed. Nothing special here. It was take it or leave it. If we are driving by, we'll stop for a beer. But for the next celebration, it will not come to mind to suggest that "We found a special place that will surprise you" in a good way. This was not special and in a very sad way. read more

Where to begin with a disastrous visit to this place? Let's start with pulling in. We were meeting family members here for a visit and early supper who were bringing a dog. Since the dog was joining, we looked for the outdoor eating area and that, at a brewery, would be a beer garden - right? So we pull in and the sign says "parking for private event AND beer garden". We parked and entered the beer garden which was about 1/2 filled with people. It was a 2 hour drive for us to arrive here from our home and I badly needed a restroom. We saw no staff (despite looking) and my husband took a seat at the back of the tent to be considerate of others when the dog arrived to join us. I sought the rest room and there was no signage for it, nor were there any staff to ask. There was a buffet table set up which tipped me off for the first time that this may be a private event. I figured I would ask about where to sit after my bathroom trip. I walked around the buffet table and looked for a door to enter the facility to use the rest room. Finally at the end of the building I saw the sign "rest room" and went to walk to it. Unfortunately, there was a small hill and steps on the right and I went to take the first step and caught my toe on it. Or at least I think that is what happened - since I really took a bad enough fall to be very discombobulated. I injured both wrists (one with a very large and VERY CLEAR scrape) my hip, a shoulder and my back. however, like with most hard falls, we can only assess injuries after calming and settling down. Mostly i focussed on the bad scrape on my left wrist which was very dramatic looking. 2 party goers came over to assist me and they found my husband for me. One staff member came over and I asked for ice. Then a person (no one introduced themselves or told me names but I later learned she was the asst. GM - Kara Dempster) who seemed more in charge came over and did not ask if I was ok. She did not ask what she can do. She immediately began to speak to me about being in the beer garden which was closed, I would even say the word "scold" came to mind. HANG ON a second - it was half full of people. No sign at the entrance from the parking saying "Private event". It is a brewery, it is a beer garden. It is not out of the realm of the possible that we would expect to be served in this space. Again, we are not local and had never been there. In fact, we were told that the beer garden isn't open on Sundays. huh? Again, no signs. One of the first things the asst. GM said was that her boss was looking at the video to see what happened. How about asking me? How about assuming that I actually fell - seeing that I was still on the ground and had a giant scrape on my arm? It certainly gave me the impression she assumed I was somehow setting them up for something - no legitimately falling. I received ice, a roll of gauze but then no one helped me up except my husband. Yeah, she comped our food, yeah I got ice, yeah she offered to call an ambulance, yeah I got some gauze for my cut. I also got a defensive uncaring asst. GM who only told me what I did wrong rather than accept that the facility and its signage is sub par. But really, my real complaint is that there was very little care for what occurred. Also, there is a large spectrum of injuries from zero to call an ambulance - and if the injury doesn't rise to the level of ambulance, perhaps you all could have shown some level of concern beyond the defensive and rude posture taken. We stayed for food since our family was meeting us from Maryland and we had driven 2 hours to get there. My companions reported the beer was good, but we had to return the cole slaw since it had stringy bits of liquid which to my eye appeared spoiled. My gluten free request ( I have celiac) included a very gluten filled piece of cornbread. Ultimately, I didn't feel well enough to eat. I appreciated our server's patience and her willingness to refresh the ice packs I had on both wrists. When I asked for an incident report, I was provided one, however it was incomplete since the asst GM never actually asked me what I ultimately injured and of course was defensive again when we told her the extent of what I think I injured. I am very lucky that I did not break a bone or hit my head. I have a few suggestions since I don't believe in complaining without finding a solution: *better signage *the steps next to this tar covered incline painted with some high visibility color *enough staff so someone walking in may be able to find them *protocols for injuries at the facility for when someone gets hurt badly enough to be shaken, but not badly enough to need an ambulance *training your leadership team to be respectful and kind in the face of adverse events And...finally - *don't serve what appeared to be spoiled food In short: avoid. read more

My wife and I tried Vanished Valley on the recommendation of her coworker and we are glad we did. We started with the wood fired spinach and artichoke dip which was really good. You could definitely taste the smokiness from the wood fire! My wife had the bacon & egg burger which was excellent! The beef is from a local farm and they seasoned it well (I dislike when places don't season their burgers)! The egg was perfectly runny and the bacon was crisp. An excellent burger! I had the Portuguese sausage pizza which was also good! I really like the smokiness and charred bits from the oven. This was a unique pizza and worth a try. For the beer, I had the 1932 Ale which was quite tasty. They have a great menu of beer, wine and mixed drinks. The service was attentive but not overbearing. No complaints there. Really cool venue with a nice bar upstairs and a second seating area downstairs that had live music the day I was there. All-in-all I'd definitely come back if in the area, as it would be nice to see what they transform it into when the weather is warmer with less white stuff outside. The beer I tried varied from pretty good to very good. Wasn't the first time I'd had their beer, so that wasn't surprising, but it was the first time I had it on-site and it generally met or exceeded my expectations. The burnt ends came out hot (other reviews suggest I may have been lucky there), and were nicely charred. I'd get those again. The house pickles were OK, but could have been a little stronger or pickled for longer. Parking - some of the parking is nice, some of it is grass/dirt overflow lot. I came by here yesterday for a beer and thought it was a cool spot. The Pomona IPA was pretty good and the Bourbon Apple Cider was ok. They didn't have any DIPA's unfortunately. The food menu here is insane. They do BBQ, Grilled Cheeses, Pizza, etc. I ordered some Grilled Cheese, Burnt Ends, and Gizzard Stew to go. The food came out insanely fast and my family really enjoyed it. The bartender was great and the atmosphere is pretty cool. The bar is huge and they have some tv's. We started with the grilled octopus with a red onion vinaigrette, the octopus was so tender and not a bit chewy they really knew how to cook it right!! Then we ordered the pizza that was on special the chicken bacon ranch fire grilled pizza it was delicious the garlic olive oil base was so flavorful. Loved the place. Right off the highway, it was crowded. Weather was good so we thought of sitting outside but unfortunately they didn't have heaters on the patio. There were plastic sliders between seats. We were seated soon. The wait to order the drinks and food was long so taking out one star. Beer was great. We didn't like the DIPA but loved the trespassing IPA. We tried a flight of IPAs so got to taste some good beer. They had good amount of food selection. I saw good reviews on the pizza so we order a Tuscan pizza. But we didn't like it much. It was thin but not crispy. I would give it 3 out of 5. We ordered some Buffalo wings. 4 out of 5. Conveniently located off of the Mass Pike, this cozy and modern brewery was a great pit stop on a Friday afternoon. Decent crown for mid afternoon with bar and high top seating. I think there were 5 or 6 of their own beers on tap. Nice menu with wood fired offerings from a cool circular pizza oven in corner of the main room. We went for the chili in a bread bowl. Tasty but not overly spicy and plenty of food for lunch and beers. Bartenders were attentive and friendly and honestly no complaints about this place. Seemed kid friendly, at least during the day but I didn't pay attention to menu enough to see if there was anything for the kids to eat. If this was the only brewery in the area it would be a solid choice but considering how many phenomenal breweries are in Hampton County there's really no reason to visit Vanished Valley. Food is a hit or a miss, the candied burnt ends were great, the wrap not so much. The ambiance is not that great, dive bar vibes. Other breweries have yard games or board games, Vanished Valley has nothing. For some reason it doesn't have the same feel as other breweries. When we asked for our check we had the debit card in hand and the waitress just dropped the check off never making eye contact even though I tried to hand her my card. We chose a two top against the wall, but later realized that it felt like everyone was staring at us because we were under the tv. AWKWARD. Our buzzer rang and we walked back up to the bar, waited again in line, and were told to sit down and they would bring the food out. The pizza came out first - weird, but they said it came from a different kitchen. Pizza was meh. Crust was super light and soft and left the feeling of flour in your mouth. Seemed like it needed to cook longer. Toppings were ok. The staff had reset our timer and it buzzed again - back up to the bar we went and waited. Told to sit down and food would be out. They brought our second meal but our appetizer never arrived. Bummer. The Bifana meal was ridic. The menu clearly states pork cutlets - what I received was 2 dense rolls (why 2?) with one quarter inch slice of dry, tasteless pork covered in tasteless cheese. One roll had sweet marinated onions, the other did not. I did not eat the rolls and just ate the meat/onions. Had to add a ton of salt (also to the cold fries as they were completely tasteless, as well). I also had to go to the bar to request ketchup. To pay our bill, we had to go back up to the bar, wait again, and then ask them to remove the appetizer from our bill. As we left, there was a line of people waiting to get in. WHY??? I guess if you are going here just to drink, it may be ok. The service and food were blah - we will not be back. read more

This brewery has a bigger selection of food then most other breweries I've been to. I've only had breadsticks as appetizers, and they were tasty. There are plenty of options to chose from for dinner. The beers are tasty with several options. They have great inspirational artwork and names, such as Chasing Dreams. The matching artwork is also on the walls. This is a lively and fun place to hang out in, the service is friendly and timely. It's also easy to find parking.
