We were only looking for a gas station, and there it was. It was four o'clock and a great time to enjoy a brew. This cozy chill brewery with a nice out door patio was just what the doctor ordered. I asked if they had any porter or stout as I am wheat sensitive. The owner/brewmaster said all the beers on tap are not brewed with wheat!! SCORE!! I had a very yummy IPA which is what I normally would have prior to being wheat sensitive. The star were in alignment!!

Tucked in the basement of a historic mill, it's clear how rustic is a fitting name. Thankfully there is ample signage to direct you to the libations as it could be challenging to find without it. There's plenty of parking and multiple lots to choose from. It was eerily quiet for a Friday night at 6pm as I was 1 of maybe 3 or 4 patrons. The beer tender greeted me with a quick smile and description of their serving styles. Due to my short stop I only had 1 draft and grabbed a few treats to go. I didn't notice any food trucks, but I also wasn't looking for any. Although it's in the basement, it's quite warm, bright, clean and inviting. There was plenty of entertainment available from board games and televisions to gaming systems and pinball machines. Well-behaved, potty trained children and dogs are both welcome. The beer was tasty and made me wish I had more time to try some of their different styles. If I'm ever up that way again I will definitely drop in and try a few more while taking a turn on the pinball machines.

They have a couple of TVs to watch the games. The interior is warm and cozy. I can definitely see doing a small gathering here in the meeting space with the dark bookcases (with gray books!). A good size table that seats at least 8 and space around to mingle. I guess I'm turning into a real adult. The beer choices were good. I really liked the Pink Lemonade, it was refreshing. I first visited these guys when they were operating out of a small barn, and seeing the evolution to this 53,000 sq ft, $18.5M facility is seriously impressive. They follow a "direct-to-consumer" model -- selling everything right out the front door -- and they've mastered it. I've been here many times over the years and go whenever I have the opportunity, which says everything. Tried some of their standout beers -- King Julius is the gold standard, consistently ranked among the best beers in the world. Their flagship Julius is just as impressive, with massive notes of mango and peach -- incredibly well balanced and executed. There are usually food trucks on site, which adds to the experience -- you can enjoy a fresh pour while picking up your take-home haul. Fun fact: On BeerAdvocate's all-time Top 250 list, Tree House often has 30+ beers featured, something almost no other brewery can match. Overall, some of the best beers anywhere -- truly unparalleled and absolutely worth the visit. Saluti.

Hint: this time of year is actually a great time to visit their sandwich location, especially if you can catch a decent weather day. The real reason for the update is that they now have pizza in Charlton! At the time of writing this, it's only by the slice and only M-Th. They lack the capacity to feed the masses at this time but I'm guessing the goal is to ramp up to full production eventually. Unfortunately, my slice last night was not the best they can do. Undercooked, slightly cold and a little chewy, and no char. I look forward to when it's hot and fresh, but for now, at least it's a start!!
