Quite simply, one of the best stationery and writing stores that I have ever visited. Located on the West end of Boulder's amazing Pearl Street Pedestrian Mall, Two Hands Paperie rocks! I visited recently when I needed a gift wrapped for one of my favorite couples, who had just recently learned they were expecting their first child. I was warmly greeted by staff member Lee, who was incredibly talented and so insightful, equipped with an elite feel for visuals and impact. She selected a great print that nailed it and wrapped the gift so incredibly well. It was so well-received by my friends. During the visit, staff member Britt was also wonderfully gifted in terms of customer service and steered me to a couple of items that I would likely have overlooked without her suggestion and expertise. I have always enjoyed my visits to Two Hands Paperie, but the superb talents of Lee and Britt elevated my store experience another level, and I am thankful. read more

Oh my, I love this store! We stopped in during our day in Boulder. I picked up holiday cards, a card game, and a couple notebooks. I could spend hours perusing their selection of cards, posters, calendars, notebooks, planners, and so much more. Their selection makes this place ideal for gifts. I saw a few things I earmarked for the holidays. You can shop online too, which I appreciate as an out-of-towner. I loved this store. The staff were quite helpful, friendly, knew their product and went out if their way (looking through shelved stock!) to help you find the perfect set of stationary for a loved one. I spent quite a bit of money here on products that had been on my wishlist for some time but hadn't bought other places (looking at you giant Maruman spiral - #LOVE) and didn't bat an eye because the experience was so positive. Also, they carried some uncommon products like a mini Italian wallet that I have been carrying around since my last trip to Rome 4 years ago and have been kicking myself for not purchasing more of! Lots of interesting books and specialty papers, Some interesting watercolor collections , a few Japanese stationary collections, Blackwing pencils and a fairly standard selection of fountain and ballpoint pens at regular retail rates (Conklin, Lamy, Kaweco, etc). I had a great time, prices were average for a stationary store and anyone can come in and find something to delight themselves in. At the time I visited this was one of the few stores open with carefully limited guests during the pandemic season when I visited December 2020. read more

Decent and very pleasant experience shopping here. I am a fountain pen fanatic and they have a decent selection of pens and ink. What they really excel at are things to write upon. Very cute boutique that is perfect for the artist, the writer, or any creative type, really. I could potentially spend hours in here scouring all of their goodies--pencils, candles, journals, specialty paper, gift items, fancy pens, beautiful cards, specialty art supplies, and unicorn snot. (Shimmery sunscreen.) Basically, this store has everything that I want to own but know I would never do anything with. They offer classes on a regular basis, which I haven't tried yet, as I don't live in Boulder anymore. The price point of everything can be on the high side, but that's what you'd expect from an artisanal specialty boutique. A lot of their items you could get on the-site-that-shall-not-be-named for cheaper, but I can't stick my nose in a candle on that site (yet), can I? I'm also not devious or patient enough to "try out" stuff in the store and then buy it online, and I suspect you aren't either. So it's people like us who will keep this shop alive and well. read more

This place is pretty amazing. They have a huge selection of textured and fibrous hand made papers as well as distinctive printed patterns on sheets that are wonderful for art projects or to use as wrapping paper that is just as unique and distinctive as the person you're treating to a present. Inspired thank you card sets to accompany that gift are also available near the front desk. The staff has been knowledgeable and outgoing, answering questions about the beautiful ink pens in the front window, the sealing wax and rubber stamping accoutrements in back, and of course, the myriad papers throughout. If you find yourself on the Pearl Street mall, it's worth walking a couple extra blocks at the west end to see this place, and if somehow my review isn't quite enough to spur your motivation, remember you can always stop by Boulder's amazing chocolatiers at Piece, Love, and Chocolate next door. This store has the bones to be 5 stars, but like others have noticed there is a HUGE lack in polite, helpful staff. Girl in front of store never came out from behind the counter- gossiping with friend standing in front of counter- no way to approach for help. Girl in back room of store didn't seem to know if she should try and help those people or go cover for front of store fluffet. Really just spent her time staring at people in back then people in front. Repeat uncomfortably. I've been in this store MANY times, including today, and every time the service is rude and unprofessional. Unfortunate. read more

Went in looking for a calligraphy pen, because this a paper store and carries items pertaining to paper crafts. When I asked a woman in the back of store who asked if we were looking for anything in particular, she promptly responded "we are not an art store". I was taken aback by her rudeness and lack of customer service. The I noticed on the wall behind me there were stickers, stamps, pencils, etc. So I ignored her rude attitude and continued walking through the store. And then in a case by the door I saw calligraphy pens and ink. This woman was terribly rude and I will not be returning to this store anytime soon. I could have easily impulse-bought every item in that store. Hands down my personal heaven. The products are gorgeous! Everything I've ever wanted and more--stationery sets, beautiful boxes of blank cards and postcards, trinkets and games. And the books! The book selection is amazing. Alas, at the end of about an hour and a half in this store, touching and admiring everything in sight, all I wanted was a pen from the front counter. I tried to pay with a card and the woman asked incredulously if I had any cash, not even mentioning the card minimum so I could have a bit of purpose to buy one of the things I'd been drooling over while shopping. Cut and dry-- "Don't you have any cash?" Totally unhelpful staff all around. Instead of buying the pen plus about a million other things I loved but certainly didn't need, I gave it back and walked out. It's interesting how important a smile and a helpful word can be in sealing the deal. It almost makes me want to get another job in retail so I can try to spread a little joy to disgruntled off-the-clock workers shopping in my store. It doesn't take much! SMILE! I do love paper. Fancy, delightful, pretty, fun to touch paper...Two hands paperie has been fulfilling my need for super fun crafty papers for many years. Most times driving to Boulder just to go here! There selection in unmatched. Plus they carry many other awesome paper related crafting supplies such as books, cards, ribbon, invitations and some of the best glues! I highly recommend Coccoina Italian Glue it is the best! What an amazing find!!! This is the only fountain pen store advertised in Boulder. I have known about it for months but their website shows a very limited selection. Tonight I stumbled across them and the lights were on. To my surprise they were open late so I said why not. I was very impressed with their pen selection. Specifically, they have way more fountain pen brands than their website advertises: Pilot, Esterbrook, Conklin, Pelikan, to name a few. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. This is a wonderful little store in many ways, and is excellent, I imagine, for scrapbookers and journal lovers. They are certainly a wonderful resource for paper and journals, and the customer service was good. That said, on durable goods like pens, although their selection is good, their prices are very high, even relative to other Denver and Boulder area merchants, and nearly silly compared to online merchants. Note that their inks are still competitively priced So, it's a great place to window shop, and a good, local place to buy consumables like paper, journals or ink, and as a local business, they deserve that much support at least. That said, until they lower their prices on pens into a more competitive realm, make sure you walk in knowing what other retailers (Meininger's, Guirys, Paradise, or even Amazon) are charging. Because at the end of the day, "bought from a quirky shop" simply isn't worth paying 25%+ extra alongside Boulder tax. read more

I found this place while wondering around Pearl Street. It is definitely worth the extra 2-3 blocks west. They have a wide selection of stationary and beautiful journals and papers. They have have letterpress supplies and offer fun classes throughout the year. My only complaint is the classes are a little pricey. read more
