Not okay with being charged illegally I really wanted to love this place--the atmosphere is nice and the service was friendly. But I was surprised (and disappointed) to see them want to charge me a 3% credit card surcharge if I paid with a credit card. Luckily I had cash. But.... For anyone who doesn't know: Colorado law caps credit card surcharges at 2%. Charging more than that isn't just shady--it's actually illegal (SB21-091). Businesses are allowed to cover processing fees, but they need to stay within the legal limit. I kindly mentioned this, but it didn't seem like they were willing to adjust. It's not about the small amount--it's about integrity and following the law. Support local? Absolutely. But let's hold local businesses to legal and ethical standards, too. read more

An overall outstanding store, larger than it seems from the frontage, with a huge variety of toys logically laid out to browse or find what you're looking for. Great staff. And their various loyalty / reward programs make it possible to shop locally without necessarily spending way more than those online places. read more

This store is so cute! The parking lot is shared with a few neighboring businesses so if you don't mind a little walk I'd totally park behind the building where there are many more spaces (there's also an entrance on that side of the building). They have lots of fun fluffy stuffed animals, books, and educational toys aplenty. It's a massive space that one could easily spend an hour or two perusing. A tidbit I just learned is that purchases made by parent's of Waldorf students actually benefits the school itself! A percentage of these sales is set aside for classroom use so the teacher's can come in and use the funds for supplies. Now that's what I call awesome! The staff are friendly and approachable so don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about a purchase. Grandrabbit's has been my favorite toy shop for the past 7 years. However I was really disappointed by my last visit there and I don't think I will be going back. I purchased the 75324 lego set and the price at Grandrabbit's was $45.99. Once I returned home I checked the price online and the same lego set was 27.99 at Target and Amazon, and $34.99 on the Lego website. I am more than happy and expect to pay $3-$4 more per item in order to support a small business. But when the price is $11-$18 overpriced, then it feels like I am being scammed! What an amazing toy store. I am a child of toys r us and this story super seeds them. there are toys for all ages and for all imaginations. I am so happy I found it. please do not be fooled by the few negative comments that were left as this story is worth every dollar spent. toys stores do not exist anymore we can only get toys on Amazon or large corporate stores. I love this place. To the negative comment people go back to shopping at Walmart with your trashy comments that is where you belong. My kids spotted this as we were driving so we had to stop by. The place is set up so cute and in sections of different toys. They have Legos, Pokemon and Beanie Babies! They have an electrical horse that kids can ride for free which is really nice.We were there for a good hour looking at all the unique toys, games and books. The first thing that hooked me into this store was the excellent customer service. I called to find out if they had unisex dress-up clothes and the woman on the phone was so helpful and welcoming. And yes, they have an amazing collection of dress-up clothes that are appropriate for both boys and girls and that is something that's hard to find these days! We ended up with a chef's costume and a police uniform, but there was a veterinarian costume and of course loads of boas and princess-like outfits as well. Their selection in general is unique and unconventional, not to mention huge. This is a very large space and they have it nicely packed full of everything from the latest ride-on balance vehicle to beautiful wooden kitchens and a full line of environmentally safe toys for babies. Free gift-wrapping and a gift registry service are both available as well. So impressed - we'll definitely be back to stock up for the next bday party! read more

a super delightful and charming toy shop. My son had a blast wandering around in here, and we found lots of fun things for him, and toys that I didn't even know existed. I really loathe a toys-r-us trap, so when something local with such an incredible variety of toys exists I will always support it before amazon and retail hell. They have a wide variety of ages represented, and a really great book section. They pack a lot into a small space, I could have wandered forever. I spent my fall break from teaching Kindergarten in Denver. Of course I had to stop and get my students something from trip. I wanted to take home everything from Grandrabbits. Not only is it beautiful curated but it's perfectly laid out. They had the best assortment of character education books and read alouds. Their stuffed animal section was incredible. Hands down this is the best toy store I've visited in Colorado. Both my six-month old daughter and my 38-year old husband were ridiculously excited to be wandering the aisles of the store. From the standpoint of a baby's mother - they have a ton of options for the wee ones. Lots of bright colors, developmental concepts, and the animals! Sweet LORD, this place had more stuffed animals and hand puppets than the FAO Schwartz in KC. Babies notwithstanding, there were endless options for the older kids. I was tempted to buy myself a princess ensemble and a pirate lunchbox. The book selection was great (there was an abundance of Eric Carle), and while it was no Tattered Cover, it certainly wasn't small, either. We also managed to stumble across a little nook filled with toys that adults would remember from back in the day and find cool, but kids now would probably roll their eyes. There were chattering teeth, Slinkies, a bobbing bird with a top hat, whoopie cushions, etc. Totally awesome. Oh, and last but not least, they had several Plasmacars (http://www.plasmacar.com) - good for people from ages 3-99. I'm still regretting not giving one a whirl. We had two salespeople approach us while we were there to see if we needed assistance - they were helpful without being pushy. Everyone in that place was having a great time. It's not the place to get everything but for great quality, safe toys for young kids, really interesting educational toys and puzzles and a huge selection of stuffed animals, it's worth a look. Some categories of toys can be found cheaper elsewhere and a more comprehensive selection of books will be at Barnes and Noble. Grandrabbit's is the best toy store ever! I bought my Children's toys there and am now enjoying it even more as a Grandparent. Most toy departments are filled with franchised toys and I much prefer to buy good quality toys that aren't basically advertisements for tv shows and movies. They have the best selection of Playmobil that I have ever seen! We love visiting Grandrabbits and stop in every time we are in Boulder. We were really excited about Grandrabbit's at first because we liked the idea of going to a local toy store (be it this location or the Superior one). Unfortunately, the service is awful - especially at the Boulder location. We literally haven't been back since our last experience. We were simply paying for our purchases and the lady was just really rude. She clearly did not want to be there. The selection of toys is hands down superb. Coolest toys I can never afford to buy but they let you hang out as long as you want. So many different toys, games, books, puzzles that it makes you want to be a kid again. A rich kid of course. Stupendous selection for a store this size and it's all interesting even to adults (okay maybe just me). Also great because it doesn't have a lot of mainstream run-of-the-mlll toys you can get at Target.
