This elegant stationery store sits in a charming little building in Lower Highlands. It's on Meade, a quiet street off the very busy West 32nd Avenue. We were able to find parking without much difficulty. The displays in the store are nicely done and very enticing. There's a true stationery department where many types of writing materials, business cards, announcements, invitations, and whatever else you might imagine can be ordered. There's also an extensive selection of greeting cards. Unique gift items lurk throughout the store from mugs to toiletries to tableware to jewelry, housewares, candles, stuffed animals, stickers, bags, books, and even bits of clothing from vests to caps to socks. This is a really interesting small, local business run by lovely people. They are definitely worth repeat visits. read more

Fabulous Indy store. Carries products from presses I've sought out online. Extremely comfortable ambience and knowledgeable and pro customer service. Beautiful options of paper goods-- not a flower shop with some cards, or Barn/Noble: this has journals, cards, specialty items. (One of the few stores w/ Jewish products -- cards, bat mitvah things, etc.) Not a ton of any one thing-- excellent buyer who only gets a FEW items, so beware. ( Don't plan on getting a great thing "maybe next time I come....")!!! read more

Wordshop is the cutest little shop so much! All the cards are super cute and they also have other stuff like stuffed animals, jewelry, candles, and so much more! Basically a one stop shop for gifts! They also do personalized cards for stuff like weddings. Can easily find street parking. You may not want to go on Sunday when the farmers market is going on (unless you are going to the farmers market too) since parking will be hard to find. Definitely will be returning. Prices are a little steep for cards (around $6 per card) but totally worth it to support a small business! read more

My husband and I worked with Wordshop for our wedding invitations and all of our signage for the wedding day (menus, seating chart etc). We could not have been happier with the process and how everything turned out. An art-deco theme permeates the store bringing just enough sophistication to inappropriately hysterical greeting cards. I walked in for an appointment to pick out wedding invitations and THE FIRST thing I noticed was a card, with a pair of hairy balls tacked to a bulletin board. I didn't get a chance to read the message before I was greeted and taken over to the wedding invitation area. I looked around for another minute or two at the Save the Date cards and one caught my eye. Written in beautiful, fancy font: This Is Really Fucking Important. Although I think most of my family members wouldn't approve of a cuss word on my invitations, I knew this was the shop for me! We sat down with Jill? (I'm terrible with names) and we were pretty much done with our invitations in less than an hour. She helped us come up with color schemes, wording, and all sorts of ideas. She also did a great job keeping it within our budget. We have been procrastinating on everything but she didn't make us feel bad about being late to the invitation game. We still need some more information from our families to complete our invites, so she sent us home with some "homework" and hopefully we'll have our invitations ready to print by next week! Absolutely charming little shop. They have one of the best collections of cards I've ever seen, and they get new selections in all the time. They also have some neat gifts and a children's/baby gift section. I've probably been in a dozen times, and each time, the team are so friendly and welcoming. Just a great neighborhood spot. It has been years since my last review and like a fine bottle of wine Workshop just keeps getting better with age. My wife and I could not be more happy with the experience or the end results. We went with a non-traditional private ceremony and multiple receptions in different states. The guidance provide by the ladies at Workshop helped tremendously. The team at Wordshop did an amazing job with all of our paper product needs during our year of wedding planning. For our save-the-dates and invitations, we came in with a blank slate and left with beautiful designs that incorporated both of our diverse backgrounds. Our guests commented on how beautiful the save-the-dates and invitations were. We liked them so much we even framed them afterwards! Wordshop gave us plenty of options but not so many as to overwhelm us when designing our save-the-dates and invitations. A month before the wedding, Wordshop also put together table centerpieces that had pictures of us as kids, which brought a personalized touch to each table. We love the final products they produced. We worked most with Hannah at Wordshop, and she did a great job walking us patiently through every option available. Wordshop priced fairly in terms of the work they did designing, proofing, and printing all of our paper goods. For around 125 sets of save-the-dates and invitations alongside the 20 table settings, we spent roughly $1400. The quality of the paper was incredible and the fine detail in the embossing and colors done was worth every penny. Overall, we'd highly recommend the team at Wordshop for any couple looking for physical save the dates, invitations and any other paper good needed for your event. read more

I am a fan of handwritten notes- I think that they are a lost art, and enjoy having Wordshop right in my neighborhood, as I always find the perfect cards and small gifts, whatever the occasion, and I also appreciate being greeted by the friendly and knowledgable staff. Recently I got a bunch of graduation cards for a number of kids in my life- each card fit the unique personality of the receiver and brought about many smiles! I must also admit that from time to time I can't help but buy a unique gift for myself, whether it's a fantastic pair of earrings or a delicious caramel. This past weekend was Father's Day, a very difficult holiday for me personally. I put on my brave face to venture in the store and attempt to find a meaningful card for my brother, who is the most important dad in my life. As I approached the seasonal I display, my emotional composure disappeared and I stood there, deer in the headlights style, tears in my eyes, having an impossible time making my card selection. The gentleman working in the shop (who I learned was the owner's brother), saw my duress and gently helped me pick the right card, and also offered me a massive hug. The people at Wordshop are helpful if you need it, but you will have a hard time deciding from the rare and ever changing cards for the most unique occasion (like a "coming out" card) or birthday or holiday. Wordshop did all of our wedding stationary back in 2014 and I am just now getting around to writing a review of the excellent work they did?! If I remember correctly, they have outside sources who actually do the invitations but going through the gals at Wordshop was so easy and painless! Our save-the-dates and all the parts and pieces involved in our formal invitations turned out so perfectly. Flash forward to present day and I still stop by Wordshop any time I need a cute (and unique and witty!) card. They are always changing out their card displays to stay on trend with whatever holiday/occasion is coming up and it's seriously hard not to spend way too much money when I'm there because everything they offer is just so cute. Despite it being in a small location, they always seem to have a card that perfectly matches the person and occasion I'm buying it for - whether it be funny, sarcastic, heartwarming, etc. They're also always super friendly and willing to help you pick something out. Jill totally remembered me from the first time I came in! She is a doll and it's always nice to have a chat. I love, love, love, wandering around and looking at what's new. I could spend hours reading all the cards. I LOVE the new series of cuss word cards. I need to decide who I'd send a card to that says "SHIT" on the front of it. A lovely shop right in the heart of the Highlands that is a must visit for any stationary lover. Their motto is to revive the written word and the shop itself is a true testament to that. A variety of quality cards, journals and notebooks, pens, and nifty gift items fill the small space, making it a fun place to explore and will inspire you to hand write again, whether its in a leather-bound journal or in one of their unique greeting cards. There's even an area to sit down and have custom cards, invitations, and other stationary made to your liking. From the samples I saw, each were beautifully created. I received a gift card recently for Wordshop and spent over an hour discovering all the cool things they had throughout the store. The employees were extremely friendly and helpful, helping me pick out some holiday cards and even a little gift for myself by the end of my visit! The products are good, no doubt about it. However, the staff/ownership are unorganized, and the price is outrageous. I wanted to have some stationary made for my SO and I had heard great things about this place so I gave them a call. I spoke with the owner, explained the situation and she said that we could stop by any time, no appointment necessary for my needs. We stop by on a Saturday and a nice woman told us that none of the designers were in and that we needed to make an appointment. Fast forward a month later (first available appointment) and we come in to design the stationary. It was a fine time, paid half up front and we awaited proofs of the cards. Proofs came, weren't exactly what we were looking for so we asked for some minor changes and waited to hear back. Heard back with more proofs (up charge by the way) explained that we wanted the stationary labeled "Proof #2" and thought that would be that. Except they emailed back saying "which one did you want?" Now after an additional unneeded email exchange we finally send the stationary to production. A month later the cards are delivered to the shop and I go to pick them up. I was charged a $15 shipping fee (what?!) on top of the over $200 spent on 50 pieces of stationary. All told this process took nearly 5 months. Unless you're a stay at home parent with deep pockets or you're getting married I recommend staying away from this place. Never Again read more

We were so excited to use Wordshop for our wedding invitations! It has always been one of my favorite shops in the Highlands and getting to work with such lovely people as Ray and the owner Jill was an extra bonus! We did our entire suite of wedding invites and rehearsal invites from here. They were so wonderful to work with and helped us shape our vision. Would highly recommend them for custom work, they were comparable in price to the larger retailers but the quality and attention to detail is something you'll never be able to get from those larger outlets. I'm a little disappointed after seeing so many great reviews about Wordshop, and comparing it to my experience. I am from Denver and am getting married in CO so I wanted to do my wedding invitations from a local company. However, I currently live in San Francisco so planning is a little bit tricky for me since I am out of state. I went back to CO a little over a week ago and found out about Wordshop from a wedding magazine. I looked at their site and was interested in one particular wedding invitation so I filled out a contact form via their website. After a few days with no response from them, I wrote them an email. I got an automatic reply saying that they were away and would be back on Tuesday 3/4/15. I was hoping to hear from them today, and still nothing. I thought about calling them since my first two methods did not work, but I had to fly back to San Francisco so setting up an appointment with them wouldn't have worked since I had to leave. I am disappointed that there was no follow through on their end because I would have been ready to purchase the invitations while I was home. Contacting them twice with no response hasn't made me feel like a valued customer and tells me to look elsewhere. I wish I would have heard back from them. I'm not sure why I never did. read more

So happy I found this little gem! I walked in thinking it was brand new but I guess this is their third year they've been open?!? It's tucked away right off 32nd so it's hard to see if you're not walking right past it. I bought a fantastic Father's Day card as well as a hilarious graduation card. I even picked up a cute little $5 gift for a friend and a moustache book for my boyfriend. There was some jewelry as well as house items. Just a lot of fun stuff to look at.
