Great bookstore! The lady I spoke with was so helpful and a great guide to the space and knew where everything was. The store has not just books but art, posters, cards, and it is also a print shop. Really good selection of books. A must visit store if you're in the Denver area! read more

Really love this bookstore, every time I go, it feels more like a community hub than just a place to shop. The selection of books they have are great and I always leave with a bigger To Be Read list than when I arrived. I enjoy taking visitors that enjoy reading and intersectional justice. Highly recommend! I've only walked here from Union Station or rode my bike so I'm not familiar with the street parking. It seems fairly available when I've been. read more

From the moment we walked into the store we were greeted with smiles. We were asked if we had been here before. They were so excited when saying we love when new people come in. They shared a paper flyer with us with all the amazing things they have going on with their store and in the community. I found a few books and they were so helpful with directing us in the store with where things were. We felt very welcomed there and it seemed like such a vibrant safe and inclusive space for all. We will definitely be returning soon to this amazing local bookstore! Go check it out for yourself and buy some books and some of the other items they sell here. Pics below ! Cute lil book store! Also a small section with other gifts, like cards and stickers. It wasn't the biggest card selection but I found one that worked well enough for the occasion. Employee on duty was super nice. Card was $6 which is pretty standard now days. read more

Cool design studio / book store in the downtown area. If you are in the area, don't forget to stop by and walk around the store. There are books organized by categories as well as fun small stationary pieces that you can shop for. Great for gifts read more

Whenever I visit some where new, I always try my best to visit an independent book store of some sorts. I saw this one on a recommendation list of sorts (I can't remember where) and I immediately added it to my Denver bucket list. The owner was very friendly and she even gave us a book mark that has a list of local recommendations she put together for out of towners. How cute is that!? The store had a wide variety of social justice themed collections, art supplies, and just fun knick knacks to look at. I would definitely put this on your list if you're looking to visit the Denver area anytime soon. read more

Amazing bookstore with a great selection of creative, curated titles and gift items galore (cards, stationary, journals, etc). They didn't have the category I was looking for at this time, but I'm an avid book lover and will be back. Great charm, vibe, helpful staff and sooo glad I found them. read more

A nice niche bookstore! Friendly staff. Great selection of books and lots of cute book accessories and novelty gift items.

I found this bookstore on google and wanted to check it out. I was specifically looking for a black owned bookstore similar to stores I'm use to visiting in DC and Atlanta. Matter was amazing. The woman working in the bookstore gave me a tour of the whole shop and explained how the books were organized. They have a great selection of children's books by black authors. I also love that they sell beautiful cards, skin care products , and other cool things. There's a really cool design studio in the back. I could have stayed in there looking at art and browsing titles for hours. read more

went in for my first time today and i absolutely loved it!! i was greeted immediately by the kind people who work there and had the best time looking around. semira was absolutely fantastic! they gave me great book recommendations, was super knowledgeable about everything they were speaking to me about and overall i had the best time speaking to them! MATTER also has the greatest selection of books, from kids books to self help to social justice, as well as really cool art and posters from their print shop a few doors down. definitely make time to come and shop but make sure you have a good chunk of time because it's super easy to get lost in how great this place is! will 1000% be coming back :) read more

I purchased 6-7 books from Shop at Matter online about a month ago. My purchase qualified for free shipping so I expected it to take at least a week for the shipment to arrive. I was pleasantly surprised that my order arrived 2 or 3 days later. I do live in CO, but still. Quick service! All books were packed with care and they enclosed a few store bookmarks as well. The whole experience was seamless. Highly recommend! read more

MATTER is an oasis for any artist, designer, and/or activist. Everything in this store is immaculately curated. From hard-to-find art supplies (writing utensil snob? Come here), to gorgeous books (on art, architecture, activism, theory, and beyond), to clever gifts (women in science playing cards, enamel pins and patches, toys for kids, etc.). The back of the store is the home to MATTER's printing studio featuring old school printing presses. They often host workshops and salons. Don't miss their annual holiday party when their gorgeous prints are on sale. There's always amazing food and music and a really great crowd (friendly, passionate, not pretentious). Denver is so lucky to have this. Come getcher mind blown and your heart lifted. read more

Received a card from this place from my company's people team. it is beautiful and a feel good about my company supporting the only Black-owned bookstore in Colorado. they have built a community and they also had a full stock of anti-racist literature ready when, earlier this summer, the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor at the hands of police sparked Black Lives Matters protests across the country read more

This amazing group of people are helping me with my branding. They have a way of understanding your vision and putting words to it. Personally I feel that not only are they able to understand your vision but somehow understand the person behind the vision and what it takes for them to be successful and incorporate all of it. The best way of explaining my experience is, they will fall in love with you and your ideas and you'll fall in love with them and their creativity. read more

I ordered from MATTER a couple weeks ago and am so excited that I have found them. I ordered a book and a few other misc. items that were online. It was easy to search on their site, they had it organized well if you weren't necessarily looking for a specific Title of a book, and their communication was spot on. I knew my order was received, when it was going out and then when I got my stuff in the mail it had that little extra touch that means the world to me. They had a handwritten note on the invoice saying "Thanks! love, Debra & Rick" (Anyone who takes that extra few seconds really scores big in my book.) I will definitely order again and I imagine they excel at all the other aspects of their business too. Thank you, Debra & Rick! read more

The customer service at Matter is awesome! So glad I found it and anytime I need a book or stationary, I'm checking here first!!

The folks at MATTER are amazing. They have the best selection of books, unique games and gifts. I placed my order online on a Friday, got a call the next day from Debra, the owner, on Saturday telling me my order would be delivered to my house within the hour. And 15 minutes later this beautiful person rang the bell and left a box of treasures on my front step! Who gives that kind of personal service anymore??? Thank you all for an amazing experience. I am telling everyone I know to spend their hard earned dollars at MATTER, where they can truly make a difference in our local community. read more
