This is a great small shop to visit. I was glad to catch this shop open. Since Covid, it has been open by appointment only. This charming little shop is jam-packed full of delicious specialty British snacks as well as a large variety of teas. The proprietor of the shop was pleasant and very helpful. Came here based on the reviews, but disappointed to see they weren't open for in-store business as the door was locked. The owner came to the door and directed me to the printed sheet of items they had for sale displayed in the window. I saw coffees, but no actual teas. I don't drink coffee. And when I'm not being endlessly ridiculed for it by cruel, caffeinated co-workers, I pick up all sorts of excellent teas and tea accessories at Two For the Pot. The nice man who runs this joint also sells jams, spices, coffee and more. It's small, but holds a lot more than you'd think it could. But even with such stellar stock, my favorite item in the store (that I haven't purchased) is the lion's head mug, if only because there's a sign next to it admitting that it could be a baboon's, or demented clown's head mug, depending on your point of view. read more

When my fiancé and I moved to the area, we were so excited to have a store with British goodies nearby (my fiancé is English). We went to get Buttons and the owner of the shop was incredibly rude. He said he only had 8 packs and I wanted to buy them all, and he basically told me no because he has regulars. While I appreciate he's loyal to his regulars, I would have become a regular had he been nicer. read more

I felt right at home at this cluttered, schizophrenic tea shop. Usually on the weekends, I like to come down Atlantic and get some groceries at Sahadi's, Damascus Bread Shop, TJs and maybe pick up a good book at Court St. Bookshop. Now, I can add this place to the rotation. They carry all kinds of teas here, so you're in for a treat. Too bad when I came in, they were out of Moroccan mint. The owner was gracious and said that if I came back in 20 minutues, he would be able to have some grinded up. I was in hurry, so I chose to have some Japanese sencha. In addition, if you are an expat from Great Britain, you will find some things that remind you of home. I mean they have TWIGLETS? Oh man, that brings back memories of me and my bestie living it up one New Year's in a hostel 10 years ago. Sigh...getting old sucks. They of course have Walker's chips and all sorts of Cadbury candies, Hobnob digestives and marmite (yuck). They also carry coffee too. If you are UK born and bred this is the place to come and get all of your favorite biritish brands, some that take me back to my childhood and are otherwise impossible to find here. some of my favorites would have to be Ribena, Angel Delight, HobNob biscuits, Birds custard, Branston Pickle etc.....and the list goes on. There are the inevitable downsides in that these goods carry a heavy mark-up and this place loses a star for closing on Sunday and Monday. read more

Okay, so you walk in and you don't even know where to begin. There is so much in this tiny shop, it's amazing to think I walked out minus $92 and with 12+ little bags of goodies. I mean, c'mon, how could you not try the China Rose Tea? The delicious perfumey Earl Grey? The shop's own blended Orange Spice, Almond and Ginger teas? The superbly caffeinated Assam B.O.P.,? Their insane blend of chai spices and rose petals... well, I think you get the picture. Yes, I bought all of that plus a few others, so what?! The gentleman behind the counter, I don't even know his name and guess what? I like it like that. He's a mystical genius with an endless knowledge of everything. He's wicked nice and helpful too. All of my questions were graciously answered and suggestions made. It seems he went to some Hogwarts School of Tea or something. Now, he's not British, but he stocks a bunch of British staples - jams, crisps, cookies, etc. How cool is that? The pickled onion Monster Munch snacks will blow your mind. The 45 minutes or so I spent in there was pretty dreamy - I witnessed tons of people come in and out. Not a line out the door, but just a constant stream of locals, it was a delightful afternoon. Who would have thought that a single drip unit would cost $3? Well, it does here! My friend recommended this store to me as a great place to get tea (I picked up some Stash Double Chai) and I also found out that the owner, John, knows a lot about coffee. I have been trying to find a travel way to get my Kona coffee - he recommended the single drip cup which works so much better than a French press cup (it tends to get grounds caught at the side). I have to give John props - he knows his coffee/ tea! Now I have a way to get my coffee even when traveling :) John seems to keep a limited schedule, so don't try to come by Mondays. A quaint disorganized cramped storefront coupled with a super friendly and knowledgeable dude make this a cool little shop for any British ex-pat, tea fanatic, or coffee connoisseur. No attitude or snootiness, excellent service, and great selection of everything from tea kettles, coffee makers, loose leaf teas and roasted coffee beans (plus hobnobs and other British snacks). I called multiple bigger kitchen supply stores looking for a Chemex coffee maker, no one seemed to have them and one store directed me here. Two For the Pot had the whole lineup plus filters and accessories. I like supporting local businesses, so I was willing to pay a bit more but was shocked to find the prices a couple bucks cheaper than I could find anywhere online! Wonderful shop with a knowledgeable proprietor. Diminutive space packed, literally, to the roof with goods, in a fashion both organized and disorganized, exactly the kind of place that makes you want to linger and browse. Especially worth visiting if you're interested in coffee, tea, and spices. Not only are there plenty of these in large glass containers to consider, related paraphernalia are also sold, like all sorts of brewing equipment. A supremely personable and knowledgeable (though perhaps not UK-originating) man greeted me as I walked through an unwieldy close-it-behind-you door into the a/c and admired the edible trinkets sprouting from all angles. Thank goodness! I just moved to Cobble Hill last week, and was desperately in need of some Barry's Tea. I was about to head to Park Slope to a tea store I knew would carry it, when I looked on my Yelp app and found this place just two blocks from where I was. They have a great selection of tea, British food products (and candy!) and other treats. The owner, John, is quite nice and helpful... he even mentioned that the "big boxes" of Barry's are coming in on Thursday, if I need to stock up (I do!) Now that I live in Brooklyn I've been busying myself finding new local this-and-that's. I won't buy coffee anywhere else, the Premium Blend here is where it's at. When I decided to make my first foray into Indian food and make my own daal Two for the Pot hooked me up with all the fresh spices I needed (in tiny quantities in case it was a disaster and I never needed ancho chilie powder again...). Not only that, but John is super helpful and kind. I got a great grinder here as well as a tea-pot and some tea-accessories that I couldn't find anywhere else. The first time I walked into Two for the Pot, I asked (in my naivety) if they had just opened recently. The response: "No, we've been in this location since 1973." After I put my foot in my mouth I purchased a bounty of fresh chamomile and peppermint tea by the pound, several tea hardware replacements (ball's/strainers/etc) and thought about purchasing a Bodum French press. I suppose I could have opted for any number of italian cappucino makers but French press was what I was thinking. Basically it provides the service of any type of tea, coffee, and requisite apparatus for the enjoyment of said beverages. Plus a bevy of English and Irish sundries that I've purchased from time-to-time for recipes over the years. Also the owner was more than helpful in providing me with a metal piece that replaced the stripped plastic version that came with my Bodum French press. For one dollar. Two for the Pot is a great little store that's stacked to the ceiling with what you need. read more

My sister has been going to this place for years. I never gave it much thought--I drink a lot of tea, but I am not a tea fanatic like she is (actually went to the Twinings Tea Museum her last trek to London). Today I decided to see what all her fuss was about and up my tea game. To do this, one needs equipment, namely, a tea pot. I was going to just go to Target to get one but then I thought, what would my sister do? Or Paddington Bear, for that matter? So off to Two for the Pot I went. It's a tiny store stacked floor to ceiling with tea, tea accessories, and English chips, crisps, and biscuits. There are also spices sold loose by the pound, and a jar of what looked like tiny skeletons, but I didn't ask how much they were or how they were sold. But really, it's all about the tea. John, the owner is a very subdued, but nice man who really knows what he's talking about, and if he doesn't have what you are looking for, he'll get it for you, or suggest something else just as good. I left with a beautiful red ceramic pot and a tea ball for under $22.00. Yeah, maybe I could have found a pot elsewhere for less, but it's a great little store that deserves to stay in business. So, go. Oh yeah: the store is usually open Tues-Sundays, and closed on Mondays, but sometimes it's open on Mondays...eh, just call and ask. read more

I first came in here when i wanted to move into the world of loose leaf teas. As far as I know John (the owner) is the only person ever working there. He always took the time to answer my unending questions. After 2 years of repeat business for his teas I returned to see if he could help me move up in the coffee world. But what I find very interesting about Two for the Pot is the display and selection of Day of the Dead items from Mexico that seem to be available year 'round! If you are a devoted tea drinker as I am, Two For the Pot is an oasis amid the rabid coffee bean wars, a calm Switzerland-like enclave of peace far from the Stumptown/Clover/D'Amico madness. John, the taciturn but friendly owner, roasts his own blends of English Breakfast, Earl Grey and a Smoky Earl Grey. I think he roasts other blends but I never diverge from these three. They are excellent, whole-leaf, full flavored brews. read more
