I came back to try the cocktails with a friend. We both don't do dairy and wanted some coffee so we got the Morning Glory- which was a cold brew, coffee liqueur and coconut milk concoction. While it was pretty good and strong, we both wanted more cold brew in it to start our morning. This cocktail used coffee more as flavoring than function. For food, I got one of the skillets that had fries, eggs, raw jalapeños and bacon. Took off the bacon to make it vegetarian, and I hate to say it, but the skillet was pretty bland and could have used more seasoning. My friend got the chicken fried steak, which he said was very good, but their veggie fritters were bland for him as well. Overall, I'm less impressed than I was the first time I came. Still a great place, but some dishes are better than others and this might not be your favorite place if you're looking to avoid meat, dairy or cheese, as the options are more limited (only seems to be one vegan dish on the menu). read more

Came here once , about 2 months ago with my sister and her mansss lol who were visiting from cali. We headed down to midtown to look for something to eat, I'm new to the Reno area so it's nice to explore. We couldn't make up our minds about where to eat. So we said, "yelp it!" We were seated quickly , someone just told us to pick a table, nice place very cute decor. The 3 of us, got menus and coffee. We didn't know what to order so we asked our server for suggestions. I was kinda thinking about getting the chilaquiles, and after she reassured me they were good , that's what I went with. My sis got I think some kind of eggs which came with toast & butter , my in law a breakfast sandwich and Parmesan fries. Our food came in good time, and my chilaquiles were actually pretty fucking good, a little different form what I'm used to ( being Mexican and all lol) ,but familiar enough to remind me of flavors I've grown up with. we all tried each other's food. Everything thing was on point. But what really stood out to us were those Parmesan fries and the blueberry butter. they were bloody good! I think they change the butter to strawberry every now and then, idk. But anyway that stuff was delicious. Once we were done with our meals our server who was very attentive through out our visit , came by and talked to us, as if we had known each other prior to that moment, which I know sounds weird, but it made me want to come back. It felt familiar. She also asked me about the chilaquiles , and said there's Latinos cooking , lmao , I told her they tasted familiar, and how that made sense! My husband and I stopped by for brunch and had an excellent experience overall! This place was very lively and was packed to the brim. Despite this, we were seated quickly at the bar and given menus along with coffee. The staff there are really friendly and struck up a conversation with us. It turns out a lot of travelers stop at this spot but we never felt out of place or unwelcomed. The food itself was amazing and we'll be sure to stop by again when we're in the area. read more

You know that saying, "Loaction, location, location"? Two Chicks is located in the heart of Midtown Reno, which draws visits and locals alike. I was invited here by my son on a Sunday morning, who lives near the university and he knew mama would pickup the tab. LOL. We didn't have reservations (COVID times) but we were luckily able to get seated at one of their several tables outside. We figured it's a nice sunny and warm morning, why not? Big mistake. We failed to realize that their seating is 100% in the shade, and they provide no outdoor heating lamps (you know the kind that restaurants have for their outdoor seating areas). Since this restaurant's core business is breakfast and brunch, investing in heaters for their customers would have been expected. As for the food. My son ordered the Breakfast Tacos and I got the 2 Eggs and Ham. I tasted the tacos and they were good. Plate came with 3 tacos w/ salsa and a side of potatoes. Hash brown were chosen. My 2 eggs and ham came with toast and potatoes. I ordered the home fries. My ham was fairly small and the potatoes appeared to be pre-frozen and precut, and fried with onion and peppers. For a simple breakfast I was disappointed and left unsatisfied. Two Chicks by no means is bad but it was average, and I'm sure many visitors enjoy their breakfasts/brunches here. read more

The eggs Benedict tasted pretty good but I ended up needing more hollandaise sauce which our server didn't tell me it was $1.99 extra so we had to adjust that. I wanted potatoes but by looking at the pictures, I knew they weren't going to be cooked all the way so I ordered half potatoes and half hash browns and sure enough the potatoes were cold and half cooked. They tasted like they came from a frozen bag and there was literally no seasoning. The hash browns didn't taste all that great either. The restaurant and their serving plates were cute. Don't know what all the hype is but I guess for Reno residents it's major for them. Yes, I'm from SF so call me spoiled from all the good restaurants we have. Be prepared for the long wait. One more thing, their chorizo patties was gross and the apple cinnamon french toast was alright but I'm not a fan of apples. We go to the midtown location regularly. The sweet potato skillet is to die for. The food is always consistently great and the service is wonderful. So COVID has changed our world and maybe less is more in dining rooms across the country. We visited the newest location off S Virginia St. it keeps with the theme of the original down in Midtown. Even with proper social distancing this place was buzzing. Everyone appeared to be happy, servers and customers alike. They kept a great pace and the food was on point. We never wanted for anything. We had reservations and they actually moved us up because they had a cancellation. Everyone waiting kept their respective distances outside. We live Two Chicks and knowing that this new location carries on the same traditions as the original it will be an easy breakfast choice as we move into the post COVID world. We have a new contender for best breakfast/brunch in Reno!!! In the past as all tourists do, we would just go to Peg's by default, but this last time we wanted to switch things a little. Once again Yelp to the rescue and Two Chicks came on top of the results. Add to that they serve cocktails for brunch and it was a deal. We drove by the building where Two Chicks is located around 10:30 on a Sunday and noticed a good dozen hungry patrons waiting outside. Luckily it was one of the warm(er) fall days in Reno and after finding parking around the corner, we joined the crowd outside and were called for the table some 45 minutes later. Two Chicks' interior is modern looking, colorful, but simple. The service is warm and welcoming and we had menus in hand and hot coffees in our cups momentarily. We ordered Yellow Chick Skillet, classic two eggs breakfast with bacon and kids pancakes. I also went with a Bloody Mary as I had to take advantage of alcohol license they have. I also noticed they have a couple local beer drafts, so that's something to keep in mind for next time. Most importantly, all the food was delish. Two Chicks uses mostly local and organic ingredients and it shows in the quality of their dishes. The sweet potatoes that came with/on our plates were super moist and tasty. And I am not really big on sweet potatoes at all. But after breakfast here I had to try and replicate (unsuccessfully) their recipe at home. All things considered, Two Chicks is not as filling as Peg's (which is not always a bad thing), and is a nice change of "the usual"; usual being Peg's Huevos Rancheros. If it's not too cold to wait outside for the table, we will be back when we're in Reno next time. read more
