Hi, I would never recommend this company. My father hired this company to move him and his new wife he's 86. His wife is 80 they paid $1600 to move them and when they were all done moving one of the gentlemen said we require a tip. I have never heard of this before and why would anybody require a tip? If you did a good job you'd get a tip but no one should ever be required to hand a tip especially a $275 Tip, I believe that this company took advantage of elderly people and I would never ever hire them read more

Would definitely not recommend based on my very recent experience this moving company connected my to Speedy Movers. In summary: 1) The speedy movers guy was VERY RUDE 2) Speedy movers guy demanded a 20% tip because according to him "we are not doing this for free" WTF 3) He said "you have to help us take stuff to make it faster" 4) I doubt he would have talked to me the way he talked to him If I was a man 5) one of the movers was hitting on me toward the end. I didn't enjoy my experience with the movers. Their van said Speedy Movers, but they sure took their time. Firstly, they were supposed to be at my apartment at 8AM. At 8:15AM, I was waiting for them downstairs. I called the number and a man rudely told me that they had to stop to get diesel. But if you have an 8AM appointment, why wouldn't you do that earlier? At 8:35AM, I called again and the same man told me they were on their way before hanging up on me. The men arrived just before 9AM, which already had me in a foul mood. I understand and respect that moving takes a lot of work, I understand that there's a lot of heavy lifting and they have a specific process... but the men were more than careful about being paid by the hour. They seemed to take forever just so my bill would go up. To add a cherry to it, I was charged an extra hundred dollars because somehow these professionals got a ticket while moving me out. Ultimately I could've spent the same amount of money on a more reputable moving company and have been much happier. Particularly because one of the bowls that has been in my family my whole life was not intact. I don't believe they cared about the word "fragile" and I don't believe they were worth the hundreds of dollars. I'm just glad that everything ended up at the new apartment. read more

Seriously. While I have one semi-minor critique, by and large my entire experience with this company was terrific. From the first call, they were efficient, pleasant, professional and -- even funny (I like funny people). They answered every question, helped with packing suggestions, were priced fairly, and were prompt and accessible. Love. The move itself was seamless. They (I wish I could remember their names, I'd give them a shout out) showed up early! What? Yup they did! They worked very well as a team and supported me in the process. And when one piece of furniture didn't fit in the elevator they carried it up the stairs without one issue. My one critique is that one or two of my pieces of art work were not wrapped in blankets and were moved as-is balanced on other things. It felt a little risky. That said, they wrapped everything else carefully and moved it all with care and safety. In then end, I recommend Two Brothers without hesitation. read more

I did not have a good experience with these movers & would not recommend them. Like Amy's review posted earlier I also had the "Speedy" truck & felt the movers purposefully moved slowly to stretch out the time so it would cost more. You have to pay in cash before they will unload you on the other end so better have extra cash for those additional hours - I was afraid I would not have enough and called Mike the manager to possibly discuss an alternative- no word in there he was threatening, nasty and just kept yelling at me to go to the bank & get more cash. an lot of stuff missing and broke up and on top of that convince me to leave an lot of my stuff behind to make their job easier and when I contact them the guy was extremely rude about it sent me an claims form finialaly talking bout date of purchase receipt like I knew I was moving stuff out on such short notice we talking bout years and month stuff did not keep no receipt for so what am I suppose to do now u better stay away from these guys because on top of that he was really rude. read more

TLDR: Extortion, physical assault (?), damaged furniture and art, and general unprofessional conduct Highlights of my horrendous experience with Two Brothers: -The team, but especially Alex, simply weren't strong enough to be movers. The three of them combined could not remove a couch that had taken two men a handful of minutes to get into the apartment already assembled. They wound up damaging this $2000 couch fairly extensively in the process. When I complained to Mike, their boss, about this, he told me it's not their job to lift things that I couldn't lift. Except that lifting things I can't lift is exactly the reason I hired movers. -Alex argued with me about absolutely everything, from the blankets I used to wrap things to where to park their truck, in a completely transparent attempt to drive up the number of hours they were "working." Miraculously, his English was never good enough to understand me when I had a request or suggestion, but was nearly impeccable when he got angry (which grew more and more frequent as the day went on). -Upon arriving at the destination, they insisted on being paid for 8 hours of work, despite having only completed 5 so far, before they would unload the truck. -They damaged multiple pieces of expensive furniture, including an antique French commode with gold filigree and a custom-made easel. I warned them many times that nothing could be stacked on top of the boxes with paintings in them (which were also labeled to say as much), only to find them repeatedly stacking heavy boxes on top of these easily damaged paintings. -Once everything but the headboard for the bed was unloaded and put in the new apartment, Alex told me that the headboard would not fit in the elevator and I would have to pay a $200 fee to have them carry it up the stairs (my mother was moving from a 3rd floor walkup to a 3rd floor apt in an elevator building, so they had already carried it down 3 flights of stairs). I called Mike again, and he told me they would waive the $200 fee if I paid them a $200 tip. Obviously, I refused to be extorted like this and they left the headboard in the lobby. I called Mike back multiple times, trying to find a solution, only to have him rant, curse, and hang up on me repeatedly. It was only when I threatened legal action that Mike agreed to send another team to carry up the headboard. The other team got the headboard in the elevator in under three minutes. Alex had clearly lied about the fact that it didn't fit in order to extort money from me. -As Alex and his team were leaving (the headboard still in the lobby), I went out to give them their tips. I gave Alex's two helpers a $20 tip each, as every source I found suggested that this was standard. Given Alex's deeply offensive behavior, I gave him a $1 tip (not my most gracious moment, admittedly, but he had been abusive all day long and had tried to extort money from me several minutes earlier). Alex physically chased me across the street, grabbed ahold of my purse, pulled me back, and threw the dollar bill back at me. I am not a large woman, and while Alex may not be strong enough to work as a mover, he was certainly more than capable of physically overpowering me. In that moment, I was afraid for my safety. -We purchased insurance, but they refused to pay us for the furniture that they damaged. We also paid extra for them to assemble the bed in the new apartment but that obviously didn't happen. -They were also the most expensive of the movers who gave us quotes. My mother only went with them because they had the longest truck, but that quite clearly wasn't worth it. I meant to post this review months ago, but my grandfather passed away shortly after the move and it slipped my mind. Hopefully it will still be useful for somebody. read more

Alex and his team were great. They moved everything quickly, efficiently, and with care. They charged us the exact quoted amount plus a small insurance fee. Nothing was damaged and they even offered to take extra food items we were going to hand-carry ourselves. Definitely would recommend. read more

3 men arrived on time and completed the job in 2.5 hours. Note that your mattress needs to be wrapped in order for them to move it. I wasn't aware of this ahead of time, but it was a few dollars extra and they did a good job wrapping it up. Also, clothing and lose items must be in boxes (i.e. no crates or garbage bags). Wardrobe boxes are $17 and standard boxes were about $6 I believe. A few things to be aware of prior to! Everything was moved into my 4th floor walk up quickly. They forgot one box and returned it at 7am the next morning. One thing that bothered me about my experience was that one of the workers got injured on the job and didn't bring it to my attention. I later found blood in my bathroom on the sink, faucet, counter, door, door handle and floor. I didn't think it was appropriate to leave without notifying me. It would have been the right/respectful thing to do on his end and I could have offered him a band aid or something to help stop the bleeding! When I spoke with Michael to make him aware of the situation, he apologized and said the mover had poor eyesight and didn't realize he had been bleeding. I think the situation could have been handled differently, but at the end of the day they got the job done. read more

I'm seeing some negative reviews about Two Brothers but my roommate and I had an overall positive experience! They showed up with 3 movers as promised and then the driver to watch the truck. We moved in below freezing weather and it also started to snow and the movers worked incredibly hard all morning. We had to pay for the mattresses to be covered but they did such a great job protecting them it was totally worth it for a couple extra bucks! The move itself took longer than we expected which meant it costed more than we expected but that was only because we had so much stuff and were moving from one 5th floor walk up to another. The movers worked hard the entire time. And Mike did a great job letting us know the price ahead of time, no surprises. We also did our own due diligence and asked Mike a few times ahead of the move if he had things like bubble wrap, wardrobe boxes etc and he confirmed he had this for purchase if we needed - again, no surprises. The move itself was a bit long and stressful but my complaint about moving has nothing to do with the work the men completed! They were great and super helpful! read more

Mover's showed up 20 minutes late which is understandable in NYC traffic. I paid for 3 movers for 3 hours, but one guy told me I have to pay for his parking otherwise he has to sit with the truck because he is not allowed to pay for his own parking....Then after paying for them to park, they ended up damaging our brand new floor and one piece of very important furniture. Company told me I didn't buy insurance so there is nothing they can do. Insurance wasn't even offered in the first place, what horrible service. read more

They were quick, efficient and friendly. Showed up right on time and were done an hour earlier than we were hoping for. This was my first time hiring movers in Brooklyn (have always done the Uhaul + free labor from friends thing) and I must say it was extremely smooth and painless. Mike was very professional and courteous during the phone scheduling. Sergei and his crew showed up right on time on the day of the move (7am sharp) and were very pleasant to work with. I used them twice in the span of a year. Both times they were quick and efficient. First time they moved a 2 bedroom in 3 hours at about 95/hr. None of our plates and bowls broke in either moves. I did not need anything special, just move boxes and furniture from point a to point b. read more

I just used them last week for a move. It was a move out of a 2 bedroom (55 boxes plus furniture). They arrived 10 min early, and were done in 5 hours, which includes 45 min of driving between apartments. They were super fast, nothing broken, or damaged at all. Two Brothers Moving did a great job on a small but somewhat tricky move in upper Manhattan. One tricky bit was the need to take off our apartment door due to the width of the furniture, and put the door back. Sergei and team did this perfectly. The second challenge was our super, who warned us in advance to avoid marks or other damage to our one and only elevator, which lacked padding. Again, Sergei and team were great. They wrapped each furniture item with thick padding, with great care. The elevator was perfect after the move. We definitely recommend this company. Be sure to build in the possibility of a little extra time for the truck's arrival, to take into account the always-terrible Manhattan traffic. It was not a problem for us that the truck arrived an hour after the estimated time, especially since we had stupidly requested a rush hour time and Michael kept us well informed of the truck's progress through frequent phone calls. The flat rate policy is a great solution for a small move. read more
